- The world's largest LNG powered container ship CMA CGM Jacques Saade arriving at the port of Hamburg on November 8, 2020, for the first time (maiden call). The vessel is 399.9 meters long and can load 23,112 containers (TEU). LNG is liquefied methane, not the same thing as LPG that is powering cars and trucks - that one is easier to contain because its boiling point is higher. LNG is cheaper but requires more complex cryogenic storage, which is not a problem on such large ships.

Schönes Video vom Einlaufen des LNG-Containerschiffes in Hamburg, wirklich super Qualität! Wusste gar nicht, dass es schon Containerschiffe mit LNG Antrieb gibt. Interessant, dachte herkömmliche Antriebe sind noch deutlich wirtschaftlicher, aber anscheinend ist der Unterschied nicht mehr so groß. Habe auch noch nie ein Containerschiff mit vertikalen Bug gesehen - Wobei es mir gut gefällt. Daumen hoch fürs Video!
