This is where the question “why don’t they just make them with metal gears” comes in. I think they’re plastic because 1. Less expensive to make, 2. They’re probably less stress on the motors, (yet again, I have Furbies that are from 1998 and have much more movement than that and none of the gears have split or worn out and they’re all plastic) and 3. Gemmy did that on purpose so that if it breaks, you’ll just buy a new one. Which means more 🤑$$$ For Gemmy.
Animated items aren’t meant to be fixed. They’re usually thrown out after the break. This is why they have unique pieces that are not replaceable unless you scrap another item, which will also eventually break. Its a good thing 3d printers are becoming more common now. So you can make a 3D model of the piece then print it.
Pretty ironic how the items I have are 2-3 years older than these 2 scooby doos, and they still fully work. Meanwhile, 99.9% of the items YOU have break instantaneously.

No, somebody needs to make the gears out of titanium
you could maybe 3D print a piece like that from another gemmy item

Gemmygod because a lot of the items you have don't have as much movement so they take longer to break.
