Equinoxe 7&8 (Band In The Rain)

- As asked. Equinoxe 7..I also decided to do band in the rain as well...of course there is a bit more to Equinoxe 8 than band in the rain, although a small piece of music which is like an Epilogue for the Equinoxe album.
Created by what I regard as a genius JEAN MICHEL JARRE..his music is really an important part of musical history. Actually I kind of gotten into a small argument on line quite recently OI will not say who but this person told me he did like Jarre but then he grew up...like what? I am not entirely sure what was meant by that, as Jean Jarre is like a modern day classical composer, although most of his really class albums like Equinoxe and Oxygene are quite old now..he is still more modern than Mozart..so he is still a modern day classical composer.
This version of Equinoxe is only slightly different from the classic Jarre version, some extra notes at the bass bit at the start, the biggest change to this was the speed, I decided to make it a bit faster than other versions I have heard of this, I mean like the live versions are not even as fast as this one..it is ok as it doesn't spoil the over all tune, I also changed the melody notes that were on top of the chords at the end of Equinoxe 8, so kind of like added something of my own there but has to be said it was only following along the progression of 3 chords which just sounds brilliant at the end of Equinoxe 7 album version.
There are 2 things I left out of this version of Equinoxe 7, one of them was a progression of notes that goes up the scales..seriously I can play this, I just thought it sounded more haunting and ghostly without that. Also there was a rhythmic pattern on 2 octaves, I left out but I did add something similar of my own instead, I just wanted to add some changes to it but not too much.
Then after that there is band in the rain. Which I did not really change except for a pad/string sound. Oh yes a couple of idiotic things about this when the main melody first starts on Equinoxe 7, I realized I looked completely insane as I was looking up and humming the tune while I was playing it hehe!...then of course I decided to give myself a giggle when using a single string sound where the modulation is supposed to be high as possible really..but I just thought it was kind if hilarious if I made my hand shake as well while I was playing it, so if you are wondering what that is all about...well it is that haha!
I am not making a fool of JMJ when I did this, like I said to someone else I am kind scared to touch the tunes on Equinoxe and Oxygene as those are like musical pieces of art to me..and I would not want to spoil something that is so unique and special. I tried my best not to. As you can probably tell ...I REALLY love this tune a lot...
Finally a big thanks to Starship5 for helping me acquire some more sounds, as a result IW as able to make this tune more dynamic.
Absolutely brilliant. Ty so much. I love the bass background of equinox 7. Can't stop listening or get it out of my mind 😂
It's a brilliant album mate. I bought the LP in early '81; I have listened to it regularly ever since. I particularly like Part 1, especially the intro.
Awsome! great cover. I remember learning this song 23 yrs ago love jarre. Love the band in the rain aswell . Brilliant!
When I first started listening to this I was a bit uncertain. But good grief! You're a human matrisequencer! That left hand part is awesome. Really well done. Bravissimo.
Jean Michel himself would be proud.
Very good, great performance. Thank you very much Jarretracks. You have a great talent. Congratulations.

A SUA FORMA DE TOCAR ME FAZ VIAJAR,OBRIGADO..
I have be JMJ fan since 1987, when one evening that year Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation was showing the Rendez-Vous concert from Houston/Texas from 1986. I bought my very first Jean Michel Jarre album on cassette in 1990/1991, when I that time didn't had a CD player. Waiting For Cousteau with tracks Calypso 1, 2 etc was my first JMJ album I bought on cassette in 1990 and my very first Jean Michel Jarre concert I bought on VHS tape was Paris La Defense which I bought in 1993/1994 😁
Thank you John, I think it it went well..I am glad I had a rain effect on my video editing program, it is really helpful. :)
Thanks Frederic, I hope you are happy and well :)
Perfect😊😊❤❤
Wow. Great cover. Your playing the arpeggio with left hand which JMJ didnt. He had a sequencer to take care of that. Good job.
And you have been looking upwards in the meantime!
Hello Jimmi ☺ Which part did Jean Michel Jarre not used his left hand and he used a sequencer to do the work for him? That arpeggio thing or to play out this bass sequencer sound? From the original track to Equinox 7 and from JMJ studio the bass synth and sound came from ARP 2600 synthersizer and GEISS Matrisequencer ☺
@@haakonstenseth I can't rember really old stuff. 1976. It was only a part off it, he got a lot of help from his audio engineer. What was his name? Michel Geiss. They designed arpeggiotors together, so complicated those days. I can't remember which track, but Jarre put his sample in one of his tracks. When sampling became possible. "Geiss, Geiss".
@@haakonstenseth listen to Équinoxe, Part 6. (1978). Geiss, designed the sequencer. Of course Jarre was the musical genius, but Geiss helped him alot with technical stuff.
@@maasle yes, that's right one of Jarre's friends is Michel Geiss, who created the Geiss Matrisequencer, that Jarre borrowed from Michel Geiss or bought from him. I have not checked the fact about JMJ borrowed this Matrisequencer from Geiss or he bought it from him. But I still know about a website, that is still bookmarked in my TAB and there you can check which CD album by JMJ, there Matrisequencer is used in the album its tracks ☺
Это прекрасное произведение какая прекрасная гармония с окружающим миром если заглянуть в истоки мироздания в ней выраженны краски красоты мира.
YES,Да,конечно Jean Michel Jarre forever.
Thanks very much :), I have an arpeggio buttons on my synths too, I am not saying I have never used them but as I told someone else on youtube it is more fun to actually play them yourself. Thanks again :)
BRAVO
Respect❤
Magic
ace....................play that on an arpegiator sweet hart and you will sound elite.........some folk like to import midi files and play along like sheep but i can see clearly how your playing the bass line like micky mouse on the double bass
Totally agree. Playing from midi files is not my style either. And this video is amazing! I have to try such a version on my Tyros 4 soon!
I have noticed other peoples in UA-cam playing their version to Equinox 7 and some of their version is almost like taken from the original version if you have the same synths, keyboards etc that Jarre used in his studio so. I know of Thomas from Denmark, who have played his version to Equinox 7.
Wow ❤
You're amazing krasota
Great cover.
Yes of course I will, thanks, I would be so happy if he did watch it, although I would never know if he did hehe!
Actually, I uploaded a "Bells" cover version and added a bit of Chronologie 2 into that, just a small piece though an d I had to drop it a key so it blended in with the bells tune.,but yes Chronologie 2 is great. I will do it soon and let you know once it is uploaded ok :)
Very wonderful Lady
Great
thank you
As you shall know Geiss Digisequencer was only used in Chronologie album to JMJ and Oxygene 7-13 but it was also used in some of Jarre's concert too ☺
Very good cover!!!!!!!...
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Great talent 😊
Wow arpeggio manualy..top😊 i believe you are the only woman playing jmj
SUPER
Ejecuta muy bien, y es muy linda
1:29 is the money shot......
Great : Thanks ! :o
In that UA-cam link I added in my previous comments, which is a videoclip from Rendez-Vous Houston/Texas in 1986 when JMJ and his musicians are playing Equinox 7 at 2:50 in that videoclip there is a sound you can hear and the same sound you can hear also at 3:37 too, that you pretty woman in this videoclip didn't play in your version 😐
Fantastic ❤️
I have watched some videoclips of a guy from Norway name Rune or RuFo studio which is his profile here in UA-cam playing a extended version to Equinox 7 from his studio ☺ Have any others watched that videoclip?
Ja 🙂
excelente
Thanks :)...I love Jarres music as you can probably tell :)..thanks for taking a look and thanks for your comment too!
Im very glad that a womam is playing one of JMJs songs / melodies/ hits
Superb!
Yeah..Nice 👍
good very very good
P E R F E C T !!!!!!
Excellent job with this cover especially as you play all the parts live.
I think even Jarre his self would be impressed with this if he came across it.
If your up for another request how about Chronologie 2.
JM Jarre himelf did not play the basspart like this. He used an arpegiator
@@JanVaran no it used sequencer what he transposted with keys.
bravo !!!
you are a professional...
Verrrrry goood
I love you.
Brava
very well(sehr Gut)
Thanks, I love this tune as well. it was a good choice :)
Nailed it's bollocks to the table mate. Wow.

Tosi hyvä tämmönen kuulostaa hyvältä
I can't remember if I responded to this, but I have a Roland D50, a Yamaha EX7 and a Yamaha CS2x. :)
Thanks again, it is a long video, sorry about that, I just wanted to do the 2 parts from the album :)
Fantastic!!!!😂😂😂

Show....Parabéns..
EXCELENTEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE ".."
It least we can still communicate so some part of this still works. We have bad weather moving through right now loosing power and internet yet YT messages are still coming;)
Love it. :)
well done!!
Bonjour de France
Thank you :)
Fine
Ого?!! Так играть алгоритмы Жарра? Я сам так умею, но держать бас и солировать правой рукой.... Браво!!
It's a happy song and you show that :-} And starshipfive? I support the Portugese cool and very kind fellow and think he's one of the best on YT!
Thank you, yes I have played synthesizers once or twice hehe! Thanks though ;)
Красивые
Thanks :)
круто!и атмосферно!))
Best Wishes late niter;))
yes it is 3.30 am hehe!...same to you John :)...beddie byes now though haha!
Can you tell me how to recreate the original patches as I'd like to record this for my mother on my laser harp
These were not original patches. They were just tweaked as close as could be from what I had. I lost access to this channel BTW. I don't have a clue what the email was to get back in. Problem is back then everything wasn't linked up to Google and now it is. So I gave up trying to get back into it.
Thanks I appreciate it a lot and thanks for subscribing too :)
What patch are you using for the main theme on the D50?
Very good cover lady ! What synth are you using ? Cheers from Canada
Yes I see their is a new format and they haven't got it together yet. I hope your getting some practice in:)))
No not played in over a week. I need to get some new music together, it's been a while :)
Great job I’m a fan of jmj but sometimes I wonder if he could play both hands
Don't even question it homie
Wow awesome. I was expecting a dude not dudess.
Very good cover cute woman, but this bass sequencer that you begin with in this videoclip is not like the one from the original track to Equinoxe 7. In Jarre's original CD album Jean Michel Jarre used a ARP 2600 with Geiss Matrisequencer playing out this bass sound 😁
