    As always wonderful Neale! Thank you for sharing, you have a storytelling talent which is just beautiful and everyone of your films are a joy to watch! Been following your‘s and Kevin‘s Podcast since the beginning and one of these days I will pick up the courage to send in a question or too. Please don’t stop what you are both doing it is an inspiration!

      Hi Jonathan, well it's mails like this that keep us doing what we do with the podcast and yes, send in a question, or better still send in a story about something you've done photographically as we like those too. Thank you for your kind comments on the storytelling - I'm truly and genuinely flattered. :-)

      Thank you Nick - the camera bag is 'nicely stocked' for sure, but if I look back to what I used to carry in terms of Canon, I've certainly trimmed the costs down. :-)

      Thanks Greg, kind of you. Regard EQ and narration, I'm a massive fan of narrated film, Theroux being a complete hero of mine, so that kind of rubs off on the way I make films. Piecing a film together and then adding a soundtrack to match is an absolute hobby/pastime approach... and as for the shots... yup, those XT3 bodies pack a punch!

    Great video. Amazing how I'm looking at photos of that boat and yet I could hear people pushing it. I had to rewind and listen and watch again,,that's very very clever how you did that. Remember you talking about it in a recent podcast, might be 48 or 49, but on the podcast I didnt fully grasp what you ment. But now I do
    Not a photographer myself, wanted to be one but carers advisor told me I was thick lol. It was in the 70s in a council estate school. Carried on taking photos but never became a photographer became a window cleaner instead, which I'm glad about because photography is still my hobby, if I'd become a photographer I might have fell out of love with it as it would have been my job
    Why am I waffling
    Sorry

      Ah the Photofilm concept... yes it's intriguing isn't it? People think they're seeing things moving which aren't. Sound is a POWERFUL driving force indeed! You're right about hobbies turning into careers dulling the sense of enjoyment, because I think many people feel that... but those careers teachers; they are responsible for many a dream quashed. The business ecosphere is littered with successful people who fortunately did not listen to professional career advisers.

      @@patmcdonnell7784 I'll certainly put that within the list of films to make... I suspect it would be quite short though as I am a very simple traveller, choosing to travel light as you can see. Awesome video Neale. Love the sorry telling.
    I have been looking at the fujifilm 50-140mm. Would you say it has enough reach for motor sports. Or would 100-400mm the one to go for.
    Off to Silverstone next year to watch f1 and will be no where near as close as the pros with media passes. Preferably I would like to own both but one will have to do for now.

    • @photowalk.podcast
      @photowalk.podcast 4 роки тому +1

      Thanks Matt. I'll come clean and say I'm entirely the wrong person to ask about the 50-140 against the 100-400, due to the fact I've got little to no experience with the latter. I HAVE used the 50-140 on a fun outing at a track day and found it very quick to focus and really strong... but I had very good positioning track side, AAA could go where I liked... I was CLOSE and sometimes VERY close to the action.

    Brilliant. What a refreshing and amusing style. Do hope all your videos have a bit of that ‘j’ne said quoi’ in them - will keep me entertained for hours. Just my sort of humour. However, I’m also said to report that, according to strict editorial accuracy guidelines, The Maldives (or technically, The Republic of Maldives) is another "The" country! Sorry, couldn’t resist, and yes I know ... Nobody likes a smart arse! 😉 Oh, and by the way - almost forgot; Loved the shots you got in the ‘olfactorily authentic’ market place. Who needs smelly-vision eh. Cracking stuff 👍

      Thanks Stephen that's kind of you... blimey, I didn't know that about The Maldives... hmmmmm... I shall be prepared for that pub quiz question and ready to correct! :-) As for smelly vision, yes times you may not necessarily want it... though oddly it's a fond smell of the markets now. And after the year we've had, I would quite happily be standing right in the middle of it. Very happy!

      @@photowalk.podcast It's rather simple actually. X-T3 with Eterna Profile. In FCP X I use the Kodak Killer LUT by Peter McKinnon at 0.3 and adjust the luma curve to deepen the shadows a tiny bit and boost the highlights slightly.
      The lights in the back are a Hue Strip and a Hue Bulb set to some random orange I liked. The key light is a Aputure 120d with the big light dome. The JPEGvRAW Video turned out a bit dark for my taste. In it I tried the Aputure on camera left, so it wouldn't light up the room/door behind be. It now sits (again) on camera right. You can see it in the new X-Pro3 Video ua-cam.com/video/7IKMnBbRXzg/v-deo.html

    • @photowalk.podcast
      @photowalk.podcast 4 роки тому

      @@THOMASBJONES Oh now, that film link you sent me is absolutely the look I am trying to make. I think the key light, the Aputure is really the king of softness. There are two of those aren't there... an older version and a new one?

      @@photowalk.podcast Yeah the first video I did mainly because I had it on my „finally get started making videos“-list and wanted to get going. Took my whole office apart just to get these 5 minutes of video, then had to clean up for a whole day. That's when I figured that I'll have to dedicate some space to shooting videos and recording my podcasts. Took my a while to set up though, that's why I shot the X100V video while I was traveling through France continued preparing the space you see now. I'm now able to to these talking to the camera videos without long setup at home and can still to more ambitious on the road stuff when I find the time
