Im trying to make my own rock formations with ocean. Once use pen tool to get your shape of those rocks, i see you switch to the orange, again with pen tool. Sowhat are you doing to get each orange shapevto lay on top of the rock and look natural? I believe thats lighting your laying in on top. Not sure how to get that lighting to naturally form to the already made rock formations.
To select the orange color, I am switching from the Pen tool (shortcut P) to the Eyedropper tool (shortcut I) then again to the Pen tool for orange rock lighting.
For lighting, The direction of the light must be fixed first. In the video, the light is coming from the left side (watch the video at 0:16 sec), and every object's left side is lit up. So that's why the overall lighting is looking natural.
Do you take any reference image before starting out on a new project?
Yes, any kind of reference helps me think about what I can create or in what style I can create something new.
Great image. Is there a name for this type of art, or illustration? This kind of detailed, but not overly detailed type. I want to say abstract, but I don’t think that would be the right word. Anybody have a name for this specific style of illustration?
