Zuku isn't fiber. They have fiber in select locations (Karen specifically). The rest is broadband (copper). And their net is not parallel. It's 10% upload. So if you have the 60mbps package you get 6mbps upload. It's very unreliable, constant down time, crap customer service. Would not recommend.
What! Didn't know that. I guess I should have just ommitted them like I initially planned, only that I saw them mention fibre on their website to I thought it would be unfair not to include them. Anyway thanks for the head's up...
@@Dkens they pretty smart. They are called "zuku fiber" to make you think it's fiber. Forget what price they sell you net, I can easily suggest you go for another provider just due to the customer care (or lack thereof).
oh actually it is fiber to the node,..fiber comes to a node on the street nearby, and delivers using coaxial cables from the node to taps in buildings and a smaller coax to the clients, actually if the network is built properly it can deliver even gigabit speeds
The Zuku fibre where you find it (Like for me in Nyayo Embakasi) is very reliable i think the issue they used to have was with the copper based broad band but for fibre its been very reliable.
Hello Dickenns, thanks for the review. Although a late comment, I have a question. Does your area need Fibre coverage to get the Safaricom box? I live in Kasarani area, and last I heard, Fibre was only accessible in areas near Seasons. Kindly let me know; I am tired of these other network providers and can't even upload a JPG image without waiting three minutes.
zuku customer service is horrible especially when it rains. Safaricom depends on your area and how they have done their wiring there. I used to live near Sarit and we had consistent downtime with safcom but the goodness is that they would send data bundles to your phone as they would do their repairs. For JTL they have a good connection but they are way too expensive. There is one called Top tech and they charge like safcom bronze which is 3000 but the downtown makes them really wanting. I have not used telecom liquid.
Dickenns, the review wouldn't be sufficient if you didn't point out whether a connection is limited or unlimited. While Safaricom seems better than Liquid and JTL, the packages for the latter two are unlimited. Factoring in Saf's data caps, the value is no longer how much they charge per Mbps. Most users are unlikely to be affected by data caps, but if you're a heavy internet user, avoid Safaricom at all costs. For instance even the 100Mbps package has a data cap of 1TB, following which you are kicked to 3Mbps plan. Why pay for 100Mbps just to be limited at a mere TB? Conversely, Liquid and JTL will allow you to use as much data as you can.
So for a house in South B what is the unlimited available internet service in that particular area? My parents paid for the month and have never even received internet/tv package last month.
I agree with you... I guess I overlooked the data caps as in my experience its never been an issue, but Im aware it could be a deal breaker for safaricom for someone who might use more than a TB...
@@Dkens Exactly. If the most demanding task you ask from your connection is streaming, a TB is more than enough. In my case I use around 2 to 3 TB (my downloads and uploads are kinda symmetrical in most cases)

If you mean the safaricom router, yes you do, but they also have a very expensive 4g for home package if you're not covered by home fibre

In places like Siaya where the fibre is not available, how does one set up 20mbps reliable internet?
