Yes, the fans are throwing Dr. Simi dolls (he is the cartoon mascot for a Mexican pharmacy chain) on the stage as a show of appreciation. They often decorate the doll or attach messages to them. I think many venues in Mexico have tried to prohibit the practice so it doesn’t get out of hand, but a few still seem to get smuggled in. The Warning has a pretty good collection of them. 😎👍
Pau has immaculate posture while drumming and singing. Any vocalist will tell you that singing with a straight back is so much better to keep your diaphragm free which is the key component to breath control. Pau (Pow) has been playing drums since she was 6 and singing while playing for almost as long which is likely responsible for her not getting the unwanted syncopation or disruption in her vocals. It’s really second nature for her. Most of TWA could likely write chapters extolling the musical virtues of each sister but I’ll spare you. I watch TCV a lot and if Elizabeth reacted to 23 I guarantee she’d point out Pau’s posture…lol.
If you notice the computer next to Pau, it is running Abelton Live which she uses to provide the click track and occasional backing tracks such as the echo sound in this song. For all practical purposes, Pau runs the show!
Hi, those dolls are from a very famous drugstore chain, which it has become a tradition to customize them and throw to the stage. It's called Dr. Simi. Adele herself has shown on her social media tons of those. Greetings from Tabasco, sorry for my English, I hope I could help. ❤
Pau practices singing while running on a treadmill. Also is worth mentioning that this concert was recorded in Mexico City which is 2,240 m above sea level (7,350 ft) which makes singing and playing drums even more phisically demanding. Not an easy task.
I've heard this before (about the treadmill), but then someone else said that's just urban legend and there's no actual record of them saying that. If someone has a link to anything definitive on this I'd love to see it! Also, agreed on the high elevation and the physical strain it adds.
Dany has dropped her pick before and Pau had to step in and continue singing while Dany picked it up from the floor. So now she has backup picks on her mic stand.
Just a little FYI. Those dolls are called Dr. Simi's Apparently its a prestigious compliment to recieve them ..they started out as a promotional item for charity via a prominant pharmacist . most venues now frown on this tradition but almost always they tend to slip through to the stage . the warning ladies love them...
Paulina would sing more songs in concert but it is tiring doing more than she does. I like how the guitar builds the tension in the song, and the bass lines echo the vocals and the guitar adding to their depth. The vocal line echoing "is it wrong" is from the backing track. Elizabeth is really fun to watch and you learn a lot. Paulina is shortened phonetically to "Pow". Alejandra is shortened phonetically to "Ah-lay" or just use their full name. Those "dolls" are Dr. Simi plushies. Dr. Simi is a mascot for Farmacias Similares, a chain of pharmacies across Mexico that has become an affordable healthcare destination in its 26 years of business. Dr. Simi is the resident greeter who answers calls to the “Simitel” hotline, which provides free access to doctors, nutritionists, and psychologists. It is customary for fans to throw plush dolls of his likeness on stage to show pride in their Mexican heritage. Dr. Simi has become a symbol of pride and joy for Mexican fans.
Dany's actually doing the faint back-up vocals on this song, through some sort of processor. The doll is Dr. Simi, the mascot of the Farmacias Similares pharmacy chain in Mexico. Fans in Mexico often toss Dr. Simi dolls on the stage at concerts. Some bands don't appreciate it, but The Warning gets a kick out of it.
When this was filmed she had been singing and drumming for 14 years. Watch their videos from home and behind the scenes, you will learn how they pronounce each others names.
Great job Dad! The name Paulina is pronounced "pow-LEE`-na" in Spanish. So... "Pow" is fine. I've been following through your TW journey this concert and your previous TW videos. 👊☺️
The echo effect on Wrong, is a backing track. Yes, the audience is singing along also. The dolls are Dr. Simi dolls. It has become a tradition in CDMX to throw these on stage to your favorite band. As Pau said in the concert intro. You know you have made it when they throw the dolls onstage. A sign of affection.
Oh yes, Paulina has a great voice !! The "is it wrong" echoing in the back are a backing track from the studio version, but you can also hear Dany singing a lower harmony with Pau at multiple moments (you can see her on the mic when you stopped, wondering about the picks on the stand). They love (and we do to) harmonizing with the lead singer, they do it a lot (lower, higher, it depends, but it's one of their specificities)
The picks show up so much because they are 2 mm "Big Stubbys", the are very thick but sort of translucent, that's why they seem to glow from the backlighting. (Pau as in POW)
@@spaceknave yes, they are very thick... Ale uses them, too... she used to get mad at Dany for swiping them from her 😹 i guess Dany started getting her own since then LOL
I used to use 2mm picks when playing electric jazz guitar back in the day, and those felt like giant slabs in my hand. I can't even imagine playing with a 3 mm pick!

*23* , like many of their songs, is left open to interpretation... some have speculated the title is for the year "2023" while others have thought it references someone's age... i was not sure but have come to see it as being about the year "2023" because that's when Pau turned 21 years old... the lyrics "barely old enough to drink" are fitting in many locales where 21 is the drinking age... in DPA/TW's home area, the drinking age is 18, IIRC... anyway, this is certainly a song about caring deeply for someone from afar, holding back, and then realizing that, in the future, they will meet that someone again... how they will handle their feelings and memories and what may possibly happen... then again, while it sounds personal, maybe this song is about something they might have read or seen in a movie or TV show... after all, their song *Amour* comes from a 15 second clip of a scene in the movie "Ratatouille"... that scene has the camera looking through a hole in the wooden floor... there are two characters down there having a fight... maybe a lover's quarrel? i don't remember... anyway, they are arguing, they suddenly hug each other, and it is done; end clip... there's also their song *Wildfire* which was inspired by "The Hunger Games" movies... i think at least the 2nd one titled "Catching Fire"... 💥💢💥💢 Starting with the cuestion that you asked about on how comes that Paulina from the Warning can sing and drum at the same time? I’m glad you asked about Paulina from the Warning, she is the drummer and one of the lead singers of the band, along with her sisters Daniela and Alejandra, Singing and drumming at the same time is not easy as you just said, but it is possible with practice and coordination. Here are some tips on how to do it: • Make sure you can hear yourself well. You may need to use in-ear monitors, headphones, or a microphone to amplify your voice over the drums. • Start with simple drum patterns and songs that you know well. Try just playing the bass drum part and sing along to that. Add in the snare and the hi-hat/crash part as you feel comfortable, but isolate each individual part and sing to it. • Coordinate your breathing with your drumming. You may need to adjust your phrasing or timing to avoid running out of breath or losing the groove. You can also use vocal exercises to improve your breath control and stamina. These are some basic steps to help you learn how to sing and drum at the same time. Of course, you will also need to practice a lot and have fun with it. Paulina is a great example of a singing drummer who has mastered this skill and rocks the stage with her band. NOTE: The Way She exercises the most is jogging and singing at the same time When She goes to the park and exercise 😊🤘
At this point in my life, after getting the VID like 4 times, I have a hard enough time breathing while I play guitar and sing. It's good to know the basics of drumming and singing but I don't think I see that in my future! :-)
@@fernandofernandez2197 Thanks; it's not like it really impacts my normal day to day life, just things that require a lot more breath control like singing. Even strenuous exercise isn't a problem. It's just the price of having kids in school and a wife in the healthcare industry.
