My comment above was praising the developers for *officially* supporting 10-point tracking. this IK beta fixes every problem I had with the legacy IK, its so nice. No more FBT hunch while running with your arms forward, no more random hip tilt that requires rig hacks to fix. *chefs kiss* gg VRC devs
I want to believe that VRChat devs are experiencing a world of hurt when programming this IK update- If anyone has watched the avid programmer (Randall), they must’ve had to ram that code down their throats... horrifying
@@blinded6502 Doing any physics engine features can be a huge pain in the ass which takes very long time to develope. Especially with VR avatars that must have been an enormous amount of work.
@@blinded6502 IK for regular games is much much simpler, with flatscreen gaming you are looking at 2 DOF +/_ crouching for most basic rigging. Here you are using 6 DOF ^6 and have to still make it behave naturally within the full range of human motion across user made models and rigging without control of proportions.
I'm very happy with this update, I bought FBT in early Feb of this year, and discovered that a lot of the avatars I liked using had various issues with a FBT setup. Some were so broken that turning on FBT caused the avatar to sink into the floor, or have their body/arms twisted in strange ways. This update fixed all of that, even without the avatar creators making any changes.
@@gothicology7672 You'd have to buy base stations and have a pc in order to even begin on FBT with a quest 2, and have to buy the trackers as well Even with just the Trackers and the Base stations alone is damn near 800$ and can increase even more depending where you buy, so be wary of what your going into

i have all kinds of funky rig extras to make things work better, i wonder how my model is gonna work with this new system q: it'll also be nice to have the height measurer work better, i frequently have to adjust my "height" from anywhere between 5'8, to 5'5 (i'm almost 5'6) might be worth looking into my model's proportions one more time, i know for sure my legs are a little bit too long. though since i have goat legs and hooves, weird rig tracking shouldn't be too noticeable in my case :3
i think even now vr is a semi new technology we are still pioneering so its not surprising that there are issues in a way vrchat and the other vr games share similarities with other games as they have issues when they are new and released that will be fixed over time and i know vrchat has been around for awhile now but its all new technology and there is no previous groundwork laid out like there is for console or pc games so it takes longer for them to be able to figure out what is wrong and fix the issues but im sure as time passes they will get better at fixing issues and adding new features and better tracking
What's great is that we can switch over to the old Legacy IK, which means I can still grab Ed from Big Als avatar world and scream "Buttered Toast!" in friends lobbies as if I were in Ed, Edd n Eddy.
by FAR the most frustrating isue with vrchats fbt was the head drift for me i make from scratch avatars and it was a real pain that no matter what i did it just would nnot get fixed some times it'd be so bad would be looking at the inside of my own shirt >_>
i hope by the time i am finally able to get vr, this game will still be around. i have been wanting to play since 2019, but still don't have any of the stuff to do that.

Hi I have a quick question, The new update has completely messed up my tracking and looks horrible i cant even swap to the old ik system because its just broken and leave all my avatars broken in a weird pose. Im a dancer and all of my movements now look stiff and messed up. Im 4'8 (yes painfully short and im 18) But I dont know what to do to fix this

@@nikidino8 IK is not physics though. It's honestly a quite simple system, even if you take into account all of the tweaks mentioned in the video.

i really hope the height bit is true. im 6ft and have had my vrc height set to 5'6 so fbt would work with most avatars.

i know for a fact that things like upside down hip bones don't play nice with the new IK, you should likely fix those!

They mentioned 3 point tracking ( like quest users who only have head & arms) also gain from this update
You still get the new IK where your elbows will wrap around your body to avoid clipping into it
