As a Capoeira practitioner, I can tell you that most of the movements allow us to keep eye contact for 90% of the time. A lot of movements, such as Mea Lua Compasso, require you to look between your legs. This allows the Capoeirista to see their oppenent even when their inverted. Keeping eye contact is probably one of the more difficult things to learn when you start practicing Capoeira. But trust me, we can see our opponents.
Congratulations! great video, great moviments and mastery of technique. It demonstrates the efectiveness of Capoeiragem as genuine Brazilian martial art!
I find this very interesting because you see the martial art in its fullness in this video, most of the time it is shown as a dance so many of the hand techniques aren't as clear as they are in practice, thank you.
Yeeeaah man!! Totally like that video, very refreshing capoeira video. Great techniques and applications. As a capoeirista and martial artist in general, I really like to see capoeira used in self-defense context..tired of people considering the art as a dance. It is much more than a simple dance. Keep up the good work. Respect!
I saw capoeira in Tai, in Spain , Austria , Canada , many places, and what i know is in the case of capoeir de bimba, i mean cpaoeira regional, has a specialization classes just for the most advanced students, is a little hard that capoeira dissapear in this way. ...
All is not lost, camará. We have realized the potential for our unarmed capoeira techniques. To obtain weapon techniques you need to apply the same research done in this video, but to maculelé.
Agree. Taking away all the show offs stuffs, capoeira is quite useful in self defense with the help of your hand. Esp in regional, there are alot of takedowns and its very useful. In addition, training capoeira helps out in reflexes and tone your body alot, and i mean it, ALOT. AXE!
With capoeira angola, there is still a lot of people thinking that is just adance, and teach angola like a dance, o for everybodu is a fight. I know that you can aply in a fight but in a roda is a jogo to laran how use your body, take the knowledge that you can kick and give a cabecada. Thank for read bro, is good to talk about that, My name is Marco, some people call me cuy, im from Perú
Ok I understood that in the way that you see the world of capoeira , capoeira always was a fight, i practice capoeira since some years ago, and a ruler of us is dont show to other people what you lern in your academy, i know that ich group is different , but i still think the some things should be just in the academy...
I was attacked on a Bus in Miami and defended myself with Capoeira. He came trying to steal my bag and punched me. I stood up and gave him a Pontera in the chest and as he leaned foward I did Chuta Lua and got him in the face.
hello, is great see that, but i wanna know that, if capoeira is a fight cover by a dance, why didi you show those techniques foe everybody? doesnt suposse that it should be just on the academias??, well is what i think...
MODERN capoeira isn't but BACK THEN it was...only a few moves survived..if you read the history you will see that a LOT of masters were killed because they went underground teaching these moves...only a handful survived. Capoeira basically was supposed to look like Silat mixed with kick boxing (with fish hooking, ear slapping, head butting, kneeing, etc etc etc).
"Fight clubs, depending on the club, should be legal!" ^ I've had dis belief 4 like... well I can't say. But 4 da sake of testing out techniques an' da like *under pressure,* there needs 2 b those fight clubs! I'm sure if ppl of [most] certain styles go 2 fight gyms an' get their techs off in live sparring, those same techs'll b there likely in a [1-v-1 at da very least] street scenario! Plus, I should wonder how capoeira was trained back in da day; even b4 it made its way 2 Brazil... Cuz if I were a capoeirista, I'd likely wanna train it similar 2 how krav maga practitioners train in their fashion!
In other martial arts, that is called a scissor takedown. Here is a tutorial on it by a Brazilian Jiujitsu guy: ua-cam.com/video/XRklGgwpbj0/v-deo.html
Out of interest, when you practice or play Capoeira do you ever do it with multiple opponents? It's just whenever I watch videos it always seems to be one on one :)

Yes! Finally, a good demostration of capoeira's fighting aspect!

WOW it's extremely interesting to see that you guys are deciphering the moves!!!! I never thought of that
that's true in some groups, but not in very many. lots of groups enjoy good solid contact and takedowns.

This is the science that few people understand!

I KINDA practice it...but not really..I just take moves that actually work and apply them when I need them..I combine it with boxing
Agreed. Thank you!
I love Silat.

Thanks..I did my research but its vague...its dead but someday it will be revived somehow
African Martial Arts in a moden era.
there are still moves like that but when capoeristas practice they just dont use them because those moves mess up the flow of the dance
this is fight applications in a roda. not in the street

I always liked Angola more than regional. Less showy more sneaky

Basically it was dirty fighting....like kung fu originally was :D
capoeira is nice to look at but will never work as a fighting style
