You experience is in contrast to TUV who places the Tesla Model 3 dead last in reliability. One major reason is suspension failures so make sure your maintenance plan on your Tesla adds money for suspension failures that may not be covered under warranty. Speaking of the Germans, I only recently replaced a lot of suspension components in my 1979 240D because the rubber bits were gone not due to actual component failure. One wonders why Musk decided to cost reduce there....

VW Union is a bit late to the game methinks. But the real problem is still labor hours per vehicle built. Tesla clocks in at less than half the labor hours that VW requires. The only solution to that problem, and to be able to compete with China, is factory automation on a vast scale.
I like the little VW tractor. Though a few solar panels won't allow it to be used at the same levels as a regular tractor, having anything fuel-free to help with manual labor in poor countries is better than having nothing, and maintenance costs should be lower.

When China starts producing and exporting cars to those countries, you expect it to go barrier and restriction free? Only China gets a one-free-way? What a naive thinking. China got the trade war and trade restriction it deserved. If china doesn't like it, either drop the tariffs on foreign cars or go do partnership, joint venture and local production like it forced on foreign cars.

you forgot to account for the fact that 25% tariff is minimum. China in reality has a tiered tariff structure on imported cars. The rates vary from 25% to 47% of the vehicle's value depending on dimensions. The country also assesses an additional 17% value-added tax on new passenger vehicles.
So let's do the math 47+17=64% tariff in some instances
China also have additional tariffs on numerous imported car parts. This include batteries. If you try to produce NEV in China, you are forced to use chinese battery manufacturer. That is how LG, Samsung and Panasonic was kicked out of Chinese battery market and that is what Toyota found out when they try to produce RAV4 Prime into China.
Why do you think foreign automakers had to establish manufacturing facilities and joint-ventures in the first place? Please, use your brain and think critically.
Also when you register your car, chinese vehicles and chinese NEV gets priority. That is they don't get held up in bureaucratic red tape, and you can get your plates faster and cheaper. If you have a foreign vehicle especially foreign non-NEV vehicle their DMV equivalent will drag their feet.

Africa seems to be jumping into EV and renewables tech in the same fashion they skipped land-lines to rapidly adopt cellular.
Already a number of African startups are even making local EV products in various areas, and China's starting to rapidly establishing its footprint as well.

China's economy has been collapsing due to the current admin working to get manufacturing out of china. China's new plan of moving manufacturing to mexico took years of pressure by the US. Getting companies to move manufacturing to mexico, the us, or canada was the entire point of NAFTA. But china is about to learn the other upside of this trade deal, the US can force mexico to join in on tariffing china. The current admin already got mexico and other latin american countries to cut down on trafficking which includes chinese emmigrants. (these efforts were slowed down by the blocking of the border security bill by crazies)
