One of the greatest songs ever written
Kenny Rogers was and always will be a BOSS.
Coward of the county no more. Always love listening to his song.
King of Country music 💖💯
I’ve never pressed a video so fast. I love this song RIP Kenny Rogers goat
This song is one of my favorite songs of all music.
WHAT, his goat died too?
✨Same! And yes- Rest In Peace Mr. Kenny Rogers- ❤️🙌🏻❤️
@@RoverIAC best comment award gave me a good chuckle
Def never watched a vid so fast! Crazy cool when ur old n know what is coming is magic! Like Bill Murray talking about God in Groundhog Day... maybe He is not benevolent, just been around so long He knows everything😆
Such a great song….Kenny was such a great storyteller. Oh how he is missed.
He is!
Lovely song by the late, great Kenny Rogers
Great Reaction Jay . His dad said walk away from trouble IF you can. This is the kind of trouble you can’t walk away from. 😀👍❤️✌️🌼
Also says you don't have to fight to BE a man...but sometimes you have to fight WHEN you ARE a man.
@@kferro True❤️✌️🌼
That's what I said 😁
I've been there. I'm the quiet kid. I've been picked on. So many times. Once, back in the day I had enough. And I lashed back. Earned respect and no one ever tried to bully me again
Same here.
There was so much pain and suffering conveyed in this song that's it hard not to cry when you hear it.
I weep every damn time I hear this song
Wow, haven't heard this song in a while.... Forgot how powerful it is.
I get choked up every time it gets to the part where Tommy says this one's for Becky as he watched the last one fall! Kenny you are sadly missed! Great reaction Jay!
Love kenny rogers
Kenny Rogers had a huge following in the Caribbean. When he performed in Jamaica he was surprised that everyone knew the words to his songs.🎶🌴
In Jamaica right now listening to this. One of my favourite songs. I have never forgotten the words since childhood.
This song was made into a movie in the 1980s Staring Kenny as the Preacher …It’s worth checking out 🤗
my favourite song of his love it
This was one I always remember. It brings to mind a quote "Sometimes you have to put your foot down, and sometimes you have to put it up someone's butt"
Yay!!!! The tv movie is awesome...Kenny is in it!
Kenny Rogers was the best vocal story teller. His voice has an overwhelming emotionally expressive tone quality. Over a 63 yr career. Watch his amazing biography. He was raised in poverty. Became a huge mega star with The Gambler Album & song. A huge cross over artist Country, Pop, R & B, psychodelic, gospel music. He was loved by everyone Globally. He was a really good man. He helped organize Feed Africa We Are The World song & huge talent session event fundraiser with major talents of the 80's. His songs had weekly TV movies. He was in a variety of bands. He even had his own tv show. Jimi Hendrix loved his Band First Edition 1st album Just Dropped In. Check out Just Dropped In, She Believes in Me, You Decorated My Life, Ruby, Lucille, Don't Fall In Love with a Dreamer, Lady, Islands In The Stream.
The moment when he stops and locks the door you know they’re going down!!!
My favorite kenny song is, What condition my condition is in. a rock song in the big labowski.
Every County could use a Coward like Tommy.
Love Kenny Rogers. Reminds me of my childhood listening to all kinds of genre of music, including country.
I got goosebumps four times watching your reactions! I grew up on this song. My mom. Dad was jazz and swing.
He walked in and knew immediately what he had to do. Took down daddy’s picture and cried because he was going to break the promise he’d made at age 10. HEAVY!! 😅 Amazing writing.
This was one of my favorite reactions of yours! Your facial expressions are so deep and clear.
Have always loved this song but never realised how powerful the lyrics were.
You are wonderful. Thank you!
I love him.....His Christmas music is my very favorite. I haven't been to too many concerts but I'm so happy his was one of them. RIP Definitely missed.
Yes!! I have 2, one of them his Christmas collab with Dolly! They are always the first up and on heavy rotation come November 😄
@@roxiepearl1 Is it Mary did you know? That song is so beautiful.
@@mandygray764 no, I’ll have to add that one! It’s, Christmas in America and Once upon a Christmas .
@@roxiepearl1 Yes...I love those Christmas ones too. Mary did you know might be with one of the Judds....But his version is my favorite.
Awesome reaction to one of my favorite songs and artists. RIP Kenny. You have a new sub!!!
Kenny, one of the best story tellers in an amazing voice.
Kenny Rogers has SO MANY great songs! 👍👍👍👍👍🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰 It's to many to suggest, so whatever you decide on from him next, will be just fine. 🤗🤗🤗 Txs for reacting to him, again. 👍👍👍👍👍
Kenny was my mom's favorite artist. Ty for this reaction...brought back great memories.
Keep in mind . . . Tommy turned the other cheek for *himself*, but FOUGHT for someone else who was unable to defend herself. And therein is the glory. : )
It's a powerful message on knowing not to fight over slights, but fighting when it really matters. I also think it's very relevant to these times that he had the strength of will to beat them good, but he didn't kill them. He didn't just go in there and shoot them or something, where he'd never be able to see his Becky again.
Great song and story.
Ahh, I remember the 80s. Kenny was huge then. His music is timeless. Try Lady. All us ladies love that one.
I don't know any Lady that doesn't 😁
I loved this song when it came out. Wasn't in to country then [was not so big in the UK/Europe], but started listening to it after.
RIP Kenny.
I beg to differ..Kenny was very popular in the UK and this was a hit as was all his other songs
Great song, was my favorite when I just a kid, great reaction too. I heard someone say, maybe, if Tommy had stood up for himself every now and then, that never would have happened. You have to listen to his father's words, he said "walk away from trouble IF you can" That's kind of a tough one, guess you just have to know how to pick your battles.
RIP Kenny.
The master storyteller. RIP Kenny. 😢
Great reaction Jay!
Thanks. 🇬🇧 😘
Playing this reminded me how powerful these words are
"You Decorated My Life" and "Through The Years" are two of his most beautiful songs.
You need to react to Dolly and Kenny - Islands in the Stream and The Highwaymen - Highwayman.
I agree, but you ever seen Kenny and Dolly doing the live version of "we got tonight" another great song.
They made it into a movie in 1981 with Kenny in it. Pretty good for a made for tv movie
This song always gives me chills xxx
I loved watching you’re reaction especially when you thought he was a coward and the last chorus .. sometimes you’ve got to fight when your a man … not literally .. stand up for yourself .. Love You 🌹
You already reacted to my favorite "The Gambler", but all Kenny's songs are good!
I can dig it 🤠
I have more of an appreciation for Kenny Rogers than I did. I was not really into country music because when I was really young my Uncle listened to him all the time. But man, he's an amazing story teller. I noticed a lot of country songs (not just country, but a lot) paint a picture of a story and I admire that.
"Lady" is a good song to listen too if you haven't.
Lady was the first Kenny song he reviewed
My husband and I love Kenny Rogers music, and this one like many of his songs has a great story to it. I was not a bully but I dealt with them and the new kids soon found out that I would protect them. I rarely defended myself but did look after others, I still dislike bullying. Your reactions are wonderful and your face is so expressive that I spend my time watching you, you speak an enormous amount of sense when you are talking about the meaning of a song and point out the things I have overlooked which makes the experience of listening greater than it was for me. God bless you all love hugs and peace to everyone Mary-Ellen UK
Love back atcha, from your colonial cousins. Eric, Mt. Pleasant Texas, 🇺🇸
The darkness of this song takes you by surprise, doesn't it?
Not reacting together since I been listening to Kenny since the 70's.
HEY MANNNN, WHAT'S HAPPENIN MY FRIEND!!! :) IT'S A GREAT SONG WITH GREAT LYRICS, A BIGGGGG R.I.P TO KENNY :(
I was a fairly quiet kid in school, or maybe just too polite for my own good. I was also one of the most athletic kids in my school. I was a rigid pacifist, but one year, a group of four students decided they could start messing with me. It never got physical, but they figured out how to push some of my buttons. The most annoying, obnoxious behaviour, specifically tailored to irritate me, continued for nearly the entire school year. Telling them to stop just resulted in more of that behaviour, and intervention from teachers only briefly stopped it. One day, I was working through some practice questions in preparation for a math test, the teacher was out of the room, and those four started getting noisy again, making it difficult for me to focus, stressing me out, and irritating me with subject matter not fit for school. I kept my head down and tried to ignore them until they started tossing a tissue box around and it landed on my desk. I grabbed it, crushed it in my hand, and just looked at them from across the room. Whatever they saw in my eyes almost immediately silenced them, and they didn’t bother me for the rest of the day. There were only a few times when my pacifism almost slipped, where I was so mad that all it would have taken was for one of them to touch me, and that was one of those times. I still consider it an accomplishment that I endured that behaviour for the entire school year and never gave in to my anger. Never got physical. But I learned I could pour all of my hatred and rage into a glare that could intimidate them from across a room.
WOOHOO!!! I requested this a long time ago, like I'm sure many others did. Your reaction was priceless! I remember when this album came out and I immediately fell in love with this song. To this day it's still my favourite Kenny song 🎵 RIP
Yeah my favourite Kenny Rogers song though I do like Ruby...and Lucille too!
Kenny Rogers had a gift..not just a cracking voice but he knew when he heard a great song that in his hands would become a hit..please listen to Lucille..Ruby don't take your love to town..Reuben James..Daytime Friends.. Son of Hickory Hollers tramp..And The Gambler who he played in a tv movie of the same name.. cannot beat Kenny for a story in his songs
You should do Kenny’s song “The Greatest”.
I think there's a reason he changes the lyrics the way he does in the last chorus.
"You don't have to fight *to be* a man" to "Sometimes you have to fight *when* you're a man".
While he admits that taking action can be necessary, fighting is never what *makes* a man a man.
When I saw this I had to click right away. That twist in the 2nd verse and then the release in the 3rd verse are what makes this song such a great song. And I don't even like country and I grew up annoyed that both my parents listened to it a lot. RIP, Kenny, and keep up the good work, Jay.
The tv film, Coward of the County is on here to watch for free!
This song send shivers down my spine….in a good way. Great reaction btw!
Damn. I love your commentary Jay. Thank you Sir,🌿
So glad I found your channel! 💕
I remember a Bruce Lee movie where Bruce made an oath to his Mom not to fight. Good song from Kenny!
Fist Of Fury. One of Bruce Lee's earliest movies..his 2nd starring role.
One of my favourite Kenny Roger song’s. Thankyou Jayvee 😊
I love Kenny my parents plaid his albums all the time.
Lucille is another Gem from Kenny, check it out.
Through the years is one song of his that makes me cry all the time
I can remember when this song and The Gambler were both made into television movies. Of course, if you've heard the songs, it sort of spoils the movies. 😁
Kenny Roger's, "Through The Years". Tearjerker
Wow ! I haven’t thought about this song in years & still know all the words , thanks for the flashback J!
This song drives home the point that sometimes you have to say to hell with playing nice and just declare Exterminatus on the bastard that wronged you.
YOU PICKED A FINE TIME TO LEAVE ME LUCILLE and RUBY DON'T TAKE YOUR LOVE TO TOWN are 2 other great ones by KENNY ROGERS 🎶 ♥
I love this song and Kenny Rogers. I'm so glad you reacted to him. He has so many great songs.
I love this era of country music, You should do some Barbara Mandrell and Alabama, who were very popular during this time.
One of my favourites by Kenny ❤️🇨🇦
He really was an amazing storyteller. So glad you heard this one :) Classic.
Ok, I guess that Jai, Jay or whatever your preferred name is will see this. I'm Brenda, Bren or Dammit Brenda Ann! Just a bit of humor. I have truly enjoyed your, commentary on anything. You have a Charismatic Charming Presence. Thank you! Love, Old enough to be your Mama!✌🤗👌
Love this song kenny a legend...every song was a story....lots made into tv films which he starred in..this one included
Great song & love your videos
kenny rogers through the years
Kenny Rogers had such an awesome voice, he did some great duets with Dolly Parton
Kenny has a ton of amazing hits, but check out “Sweet Music Man”. An autobiographical hit that Kenny actually wrote. It’s so good.
I forgot about Sweet Music Man. Yes, it's an absolutely beautiful song!
My wife and I enjoy your takes on music. I have a first suggestion for you bro....Yello Vicious Games.
If you like this song, you may like the 1981 movie of he same name starring Kenny Rogers.
The song had a country feel, though the movie is set during the 2nd World War.
Check out the movie he did of this very song (Coward of the County")...its pretty good J.
Song brings so many emotions, sad very sad, it about Tommy but let's not forget about what happened to Becky.
Yet we're glad at the end...
First ur like...😐😬😲😔😏😮😲🤪😤😡🤬😶😑🤠😎
J, you'd have whooped 5 Gatlin Boys, not just 3 with those 24 inch pythons. :) If you're looking for a more upbeat Kenny song, he was in a NASCAR movie called Six Pack and sang a song in it called "Love Will Turn You Around" which was popular at the time... #1 on Country and Adult Contemporary charts and #13 on Billboard Top 100. Keep rocking it!
Thank you...luv this one!! R.I.P Kenny!!
Soooo excited for this! GREAT storytelling! Iconic-💜👍✌️
These songs connected us to our dads who didn’t open up but we shared music.
Calgary Alberta
Beautiful British Columbia.
This song is part of the soundtrack for the movie Coward of the County, starring Kenny Rogers. It was on TubiTV about two months ago, and may still be there. His movie The Gambler is their along with the sequels.
Kenny is one of my faves.. check out, "love will turn you around", "she's mine" a duet he did with the great Ronnie Milsap, and "morning desire"...all favorite cuts.
There was a country group at the same time as Kenny Rogers called the freaking Gatlin Brothers! en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Gatlin
Check out “Ruby”
Great story telling 👍
those damn dirty Gatlin' Boys : (
Spent 2 weeks at number one in the UK January 1980.Great song 👍🏼
