Nicely done mate. Good to hear a bit more of your story. The naked running sounds like a great idea, no gadgets telling you if you're winning or losing the run! The barefoot ultra is going to be epic as well. If anyone can do it, you can :) Remember the sprint finish 😂 Those 3 picks for the challenge are very cool. Mark is hilarious and so good at making videos and explaining topics in a logic, understandable manner. Laura makes some really good stuff too, and we all know James 👍
'We all know Bond, James (Neilsen) Bond...' Thanks for the nomination mate - loved your latest video, really good. Not sure I'll make a sprint finish at the end of 35 miles of running in the barefoot beauties, but I will be thinking of you obviously when that time comes. Cheers dude!
Great answers and well put together. Loving the graffiti back drops too. Thanks for the nomination, I will do asap … (Martin at the Determined runner got me the other day, being a little slow).
Beautiful clip dear friend! glad I found your #myrun clip! Beautiful running footage and nice answers, dear friend! You're amazing! Thanks for sharing your story! Big fishes on your three indeed, hehe. Best wishes!
That's got to be the longest display of graffiti art, at least in the #MyRun challenge video! Nicely done and thanks for sharing your journey. And best of luck with training and racing your first ultramarathon!
Thanks very much Thomas, I just watched your #MyRun video 🙌 wow what an amazing video, and journey you have had so far with your running. Thanks for the wish of luck, and I wish you the same 👌👍
☾💓👍🏻🔔The way you do the work gracefully - I am very proud of you. Thanks for going through the trouble and it's worth it. Congratulations and best of luck for your promising future. Great job, you are amazing, you are important, you are special, you are unique, and you are valuable! Never give up, go ahead, fight for your dreams, everything will get better for you, I wish you good luck. You have my full supportt 🎁
Thanks Phil. Yes there has been a few events near me too for mile runs for juniors, and I still can’t believe I’ve never done a park run! We have a bit of a routine on Saturday mornings (Daddy’s told-up story time) but I’m sure I will one day and the girls would hopefully come along. The older one is mad on climbing and the little one loves her bike, but they both run up and down our street all day with their friends 😁🏃
Thanks very much. I’m running the Shires and Spires Ultra in May 2023. I did it in 2021 and loved it! I think my youngest daughter would like to come running with me. The older one prefers climbing, she’s like a monkey child! Cheers for watching - I’ll check your video out too 😁
I can tell you two things from a life time of running in all different kind of terrains, once your knees are damaged (like mine with cartilage damage). 1st: if you continue running, you'll end up semi crippled, 2nd: if you use shoes without cushioning (even for walking after the damage) you'll make the damage even worse. The other bit of advice is give up running when your 50 and use bike instead, I kept on running until I was 62 and then next day after a good 8 mile run (last 4 miles 7 min/miles) I could hardly walk. No indication, no prior warning, they just went; sometimes you get a warning that something is going wrong (which many fanatical runners like me would have ignored anyway, I suspect). A year after that my left foot arch collapsed, probably due to the compensating way I was now walking. The next mistake I made was following the suggestions of another runner and use bare foot shoes for walking, this exacerbate everything and then some. Six years later and now I require the support of shopping trolley to get round the supermarket to make it tolerable, I can walk on pavement for around 5 minutes, I can walk on soft surfaces like grass and sand for a couple of miles but that's about it. I bought a pair of Cloudmonster running shoes a month back and found that they make it significantly easier to walk on hard surfaces, you can draw your own conclusions from that, Cloudmonster are about the most cushioned shoes you can get.
Oh no that’s no good!! You also kind like my best friend who hates running and spends his spare money on crazy expensive carbon fibre bikes and wants me to do the same. Sorry this has happened to your knees and your foot too, sounds really painful. When I started out running the NHS couch to 5k my wife started at the same time and we would go out together whenever possible, but she couldn’t continue as she was told by a doctor she has no cartilage in her knees and had to stop. I hope I don’t get any problems, thanks for your concern though. I feel more involved in the running in barefoot style shoes with no cushioning and, although I’m slower than when I ran in cushioned shoes, I feel more connected to what I’m doing and hopefully this will stop me from over doing it 🤞 And I am 50 so I’ll take that as a compliment 😁 maybe it is time to buy a bike - I’d get to spend more time with my mate that’s for sure
@@skinnylegsbarefootshoes Get two bikes, they don't require to be all that expensive, nothing fancy but make sure they fit you. A mountain and a road bike, why? When the weathers good, it's great for doing long runs, a couple of hours on bike, especially if you use back lanes really helps you mentally, even if your on your own. Mountain bike have two uses, 1st, great for trails forestry roads etc but the 2nd and the main use, is an alternative to running, a hard 10 to 15 mile run on normal roads with an MTB is like a hard run on feet, it's for training purposes, especially when the weather is windy or wet, you don't require to go as far. One last thing, I have many sport injuries, now permanent, why? Because I was always measuring myself, how many miles against the clock, how many reps plus the size of the weight, how many kicks and punches to the bag against the clock. Setting myself goals created these unnecessary injuries. I can cycle for 20 to 30 miles today, can hardly walk but I still keep myself fit but although I know the distances I'm cycling, I no longer time myself, no watch, just enjoy the moment and the experience. I gave up cycling with a guy i knew because he was all about time and PBs, I would say look at that hawk up there, I would get a funny look and a grunt. Don't fall into the trap, it took me a lifetime to extract myself from that kind of mind set, I still set hard pace sometimes but it isn't the be-all and end-all . Good luck.
@@Insolation1 Thanks man I appreciate that advice, I do get wrapped up in stats sometimes and have to go out without any distractions so I can just enjoy being outside and getting some light exercise. My mates like that he loves watts and is always banging on about them. I do have a bike which is ok, I’ll take it out a bit more often (haven’t used it once yet this year!) and see how it feels 😊 take care and enjoy it too when you are out on it
Interesting fact the UK has the highest Rates of cancer outside of the chernobyl Exclusion zone.and has the biggest nuclear Reprocessing plant on the planet Sellafield Thorp mox plant Which is falling apart . Built in the 1950s. Hope you are okay 👍
Wow, I didn't know that about the UK and cancer rates, thats very interesting, and I've heard of Sellafield. Thanks for your comment - and yes all good now thanks very much :) Loving life
I think here in the US, the rate is: 1 in 2 men, and 3 out of 4 women. It looks like Ash and I had cancer at the same time, as it's now been 8yrs for me, as well. Mine also started with a lump in the right side of my neck, which I also ignored. Turns out, that lymph node is a very import one, because it handles the drainage from the head, right arm, shoulder areas. My cancer wound up being last stage of Testicular.
@@austinado16 Wow those statistics are pretty shocking aren't they! I can't believe how similar the timings and some of the details of our stories are!
I love how running was born out of something so dark. Great job on this video and good luck with running a ultra in barefoot shoes.
Thanks very much, and thanks for the well wishes for the ultra - going to be an interesting experience for sure 😊👍
Excellent Ash! I always enjoy hearing more of your story!
Thanks Todd! Hope you are well mate 😃
