John's voice was "raspy" because this was his second encore after two and a half hours of belting out numbers like this flawlessly. Truly astonishing talent.
John is the greatest and most versatile male vocalist of all time. His perfect diction and clarity, you can hear every word he sings which is not something you can say about too many singers, especially in this rock/pop genre. He has seemingly endless vocal range and goes from 0-100 in an instant, his pronunciation perfect, pitch and tone, mic control, breath control, emotion and passion is incredible and puts absolutely everything into every performance he does and to be as perfect as he was back then, every time live with no auto tune or tricks he’s just the best. And John is always so happy and high energy on stage, he’s not just a singer but also an incredible performer, he’s just there for the music, his fellow musicians, his fans and the love. He is also so genuine and an amazing human being.
Perfect control, beautiful man inside and out. Thanks for a great reaction. He sung like this night after night - incredible. Cant get tired of listening to the G.O.A.T. 😊❤😊
Australia loves John Farnham not only because of his talent but he's also the nicest guy you'll ever meet. He's kind, selfless, generous and just awesome. John would have to be one of our favorite sons in this country. He's much-loved. A great guy and you now see why in Australia we call him "The Voice"! :) Craig - Australia
Kap & Deb, sorta lost for words (unusual for me lol) - seriously listening to John sing, but also reflecting over the decades we’ve been listening to him, as we know he’s unique. He’s tooo nice haha. He’s never rude, arrogant, got a big head. He’d sign autographs until he was dragged away. Spoke to fans as if he knew them, no airs or I’m a Star attitude. He’d talk to people in the street or after shows as he was your next door neighbour. He totally fascinates me. The best personality, voice, humour & more, but talks to total stranger fans as if he’s known them forever. How did he do that for decades? He sure is so dam special. And none of it is put on - it just all comes natural to him. I’ve always known that but just had a deeper inner feeling of understanding of John. (sorry, I found my lost words lol)😊
He sang You're The Voice at this same concert & i personally think its his best rendition of the song plus a he had a Bagpipest solo aling with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It was amazing.
A John Farnham concert was one of the greatest experiences anyone could have. That was sung at the end of 2 hours of singing. Watch him singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" when he was even younger.
In fairness to Anne, this is probably the most requested Farnsey song so it is pretty amazing you haven't done this yet. Absolutely fantastic version of an iconic song and Farnsey makes it his own and then some! Love it!
As an Aussie (Ozzie), I think everyone has their own favourite Farnsy song, however this song is universally loved by all. As something different, I’m gonna recommend checking out “Prejudice” by Tim Minchin. A brilliant musical comedian, he doesn’t have the pipes of “The Voice” aka Farnsy, but Tim is a lyrical genius in his own right.
The epitome of perfection. That is John Farnham 😍 ❤❤ Thanks for reacting to this incredible performance. I never tire of it. Great suggestion Anne!!👍 Funny how you thought John was so young here. He was 40!!!😅
He is actually about 40 years old here, so youngish, but he goes way back to 1967 when he had his first number one hit while he was still a baby faced 18yo teenager. There has been a huge number of his performances recorded between then and now ... ❤😂
Love this reaction but I had to laugh when you said he was "so young" John was born in 1949 and this is in the 80's. I think our Australian lifestyle keeps us looking young. John IS the greatest vocalist of all time
John has been really sick. I so hope his family is showing him all these reaction videos. Not to mention the Aussies commenting their love pride and admiration for him.
I think John was about 39 at the time of this concert and that song really delivers a lot of emotion because before whispering jack album cam out he was going through a very tough time and the audience knew it. 😢❤😊
This was the last song of a 2 and a half hour amazing concert. John Farnham is unfortunately unable to sing anymore after a cancer battle but will forever be known as the best male vocalist of all time. Thank you for this reaction 👏 more people need to hear this amazing talent.
Thank you so much guys for reacting to John Farnham who I’ve been listening to for 5 decades now. So please enjoy the rabbit hole that is John Farnham yous won’t be disappointed. Keep reacting
You can develop that rasp in your voice with a bit of dedication. Just suck down a couple of packs of ciggies a day for twenty-odd years. And then belt out high-energy vocals with mind-boggling power for a couple of hours. Our John is awesome. Most people who tried that would blow out their vocal cords. Thanks for this one, it's one of my favourites. I love seeing you come to it fresh. Makes it fresh for me as well.
Thank you for reacting to John Farnham. We are so blessed to have him as our own here in Australia. I've been fortunate enough to see him live in concert many times and it is always brilliant and beatiful and the very best.
Fortunate indeed. He didn't make it to Perth very often, and when he did I either didn't hear about it before it was sold out or I was too broke to get a ticket. Once I made it. Once. It was damn good, but before his best stuff came out.
I saw John 5 times in concert absolutely amazing .The Main Event concert with Olivia Newton John and theatre star Anthony Warlow best concert I’ve been to pure entertainment.
Thank you for reacting to this! (I'm the one who sent in the request). I love this live version so much, and I am so glad you guys loved it too! (And this dudette is not offended by being called a dude XD )
Whispering Jack was my mums favourite vinyl record and he would be on Hey Hey It’s Satarday every second week and telethon in Western Australia every year. I just took for granted how good he actually is.
Welcome to the Farnsy rabbit hole. There's sooo much more to discover if you really want to jump down it. Also, Jimmy Barnes (A.K.A Barnsey). John and Jimmy singing "When Somethin is Wrong With My Baby" is one of their best collabs together. The black and white video is the best version.
John Farnham is the king of Melbourne's Rod Laver Arena. No male artist comes close to selling out as many shows at this venue as he. Also, FYI, the Queen of Rod Laver arena is P!NK. In 2009 Pink sold out 17 concert's at this venue.
Anything by John with the MSO is magic...... Try his AC/DC cover of Long Way To The Top, the same night with the MSO......even Bon Scott fans love it. lol
Amazing singer and man he had the same background singers his whole career...sadie the cleaning lady was his first ....hes an aussie icon and always will be
This was the last song of the night of the 2nd encore after a concert of 2+ hours. Legend has it that John Lennon heard this version which is Farnseys own arrangement & said this is how it was supposed to sound. The record company wanted The Beatles to do an upbeat song.
In 13.7 billion years of the universes existence, everyone who is alive today should be grateful they lived in the era of John Farnham. He's the best that's ever been and will be and I don't need a time machine to know that
More people should watch it and then they'd stop posting false information about Help being the last song of the night when it was really It's a Long Way to the Top! ;-)
John sang this song at the end of his two hour concert, it was actually an encore, where he had been performing many songs beforehand at a volume and tempo even greater than this song, which hopefully means that you might forgive him for sounding a little hoarse and rougher than usual.
A giant in Aussie music... Sadly, his singing days are probably done. John suffered mouth cancer and had extensive surgery to fix it... Thankfully he is now doing Ok....
He has sung with Celine Dion, Tom Jones, Anthony Warlow, Olivia Newton John, Jimmy Barnes, Ray Charles and many more. 1988, Australia's Bicentennial Year, Farnham was named 1987 Australian of the Year, although he was not yet naturalised-a hastily organised swearing-in occurred before the honour was bestowed. He was chosen due to: "his outstanding contribution to the Australian music industry over 20 years. On 1 January 2001, Farnham was awarded a Centenary Medal, "for outstanding service to Australian music", as part of Australia's celebration of a centenary of federation. He can sing any genre from pop to opera. He toured in Jesus Christ Superstar. Check out:: Burn For You, It’s A Long Way To The Top, The Voice, WhenThe War Is Over ( Cold Chisel cover), Black Dog (Led Zeppelin cover, it's only an audio he used it for his mic check) Duet with Jimmy Barnes When Something Is Wrong With My Baby. All of John Farnham, Jimmy Barnes, Cold Chisel, Johnny Diesel reactions should be live as their performances are a show in themselves.
John isn’t young here. More middle aged which isn’t old but go back to the 60’s for baby John. He wasn’t allowed to sing his music or dress his way until he was 38 and he started at 17. He isn’t raspy when he sings Opera. The Beatles wrote it and recorded it but John fixed it.
@suerussell1207 It's a negative term for someone who throws all of their emotions onto someone else who doesn't feel the same way. This other person has no idea who John Farnham is. Just being a troll
John's voice was "raspy" because this was his second encore after two and a half hours of belting out numbers like this flawlessly. Truly astonishing talent.
Not to mention the full pack of smokes he downed that day
John’s voice was always raspy. His excuse to not give up smoking was it might change his voice lol.
Better than anything the yanks could come up with their music is crap
Our wonderful John Farnham is adored here in Australia. Not only an incredible talent but also a lovely, humble, funny Aussie. 💕🇦🇺
And what makes this performance even better is he had just performed for 2 hours and I believe was his encore performance
One of his encores. There was another after this one!
Yep😊

John asked Australia for help that night and while I think we were many years late, I do believe we gave it to him.
That's for sure Kappy and we love him for it ❤😂❤

@@bernadettelanders7306 I was gonna say for someone lost for words you did good girl 😂 well said Bernadette ❤️
@@Dr_KAP honestly at first it was feelings stuck inside - but unstuck happened lol
@@Dr_KAP ♥️♥️ Thinking of you a lot. Love ya ♥️♥️
He sang You're The Voice at this same concert & i personally think its his best rendition of the song plus a he had a Bagpipest solo aling with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. It was amazing.
John Lennon loved this version saying that's the way it was meant to be sung like
Our beloved Farnsy. He can make you proud, emotional and goosebumpy all at once. A legend. An Aussie icon. 🇦🇺🩷🇦🇺
That's how you make a Beatles classic, your own. ❤❤❤
Hi Jojo. Hope you're doing good ❤❤
A John Farnham concert was one of the greatest experiences anyone could have. That was sung at the end of 2 hours of singing. Watch him singing "Bridge Over Troubled Water" when he was even younger.
Not at the end. There was another encore after this.
A live performance can’t get better then that.

John is my number 1, and Tim is my number 2. Two great Aussie artists.. ❤
He is the most talented and humble man on the planet and we love him in OZ
I just love audiences participating in this.John is such a great performer
The epitome of perfection. That is John Farnham 😍 ❤❤
Thanks for reacting to this incredible performance. I never tire of it. Great suggestion Anne!!👍
Funny how you thought John was so young here. He was 40!!!😅
I worked at this concert in Melbourne, Australia late1989, and this was John's final encore song.
It was the first of his encore songs, from memory there were 4.. I know he did Sadie and Long Way to the Top after Help 😊❤ 👍
John Fareham is an Australian legend
I consider John to be in the top 5 of the best pop vocalist in the world. His skills are insane.
He's also a very nice guy.
I would even go higher than "only" top 5. He must be an alien 😂
He is actually about 40 years old here, so youngish, but he goes way back to 1967 when he had his first number one hit while he was still a baby faced 18yo teenager. There has been a huge number of his performances recorded between then and now ... ❤😂
The last time I saw JF live was 2017. I can confirm his voice was just as amazing then as it was in this video!
John Farnham, the greatest and most versatile singer on the planet.❤
Love this reaction but I had to laugh when you said he was "so young" John was born in 1949 and this is in the 80's. I think our Australian lifestyle keeps us looking young.
John IS the greatest vocalist of all time
If you think he is young here, try searching for his first single "Sadie The Cleaning Lady" he was so young 💜
John has been really sick. I so hope his family is showing him all these reaction videos. Not to mention the Aussies commenting their love pride and admiration for him.
I saw him on this tour back in the day. This was his final encore after 2 hours + on stage.
It wasn't his final encore. There was another encore after this one where he sang Sadie and It's a Long Way to the Top. That was the final encore.
I think John was about 39 at the time of this concert and that song really delivers a lot of emotion because before whispering jack album cam out he was going through a very tough time and the audience knew it. 😢❤😊

Ppl rave about Freddie Mercury's voice and 4 octave range, well, now you've heard the master!
Thank you for reacting to this! (I'm the one who sent in the request). I love this live version so much, and I am so glad you guys loved it too! (And this dudette is not offended by being called a dude XD )
And the MSO is magical. If you ever get to come to Melbourne, try and book into anything that they have on. They are an Australian institute!
Hey from Australia, I have all John Farnham.
Onya Farnsy......he's our bloody legend 👏 🙌 ❤️
Whispering Jack was my mums favourite vinyl record and he would be on Hey Hey It’s Satarday every second week and telethon in Western Australia every year. I just took for granted how good he actually is.
John's pipes emit fire. 🔥

its the deep from the soul emotion he sings with that sets him apart...his emotion seems to dictate how he sings
If you can find it, John does an amazing duet with Tom Jones, another amazingly powerful singer and they are brilliant together..
I'm surprised no one has mentioned his songs break the ice and thunder in your heart
Anything by John with the MSO is magic......
Try his AC/DC cover of Long Way To The Top, the same night with the MSO......even Bon Scott fans love it. lol

John Lennon said "This is how it was supposed to be" this version is from 2006 in Australia
This was the last song of the night of the 2nd encore after a concert of 2+ hours. Legend has it that John Lennon heard this version which is Farnseys own arrangement & said this is how it was supposed to sound. The record company wanted The Beatles to do an upbeat song.
The amazing thing was he backed it up with another encore after this one!
Johns voice is amazing considering he never had a singing lesson John is so down to earth 🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
You should check another great song from this concert
His cover of ac/dc’s it’s a long way to the top
One of the best voices to come out of England.
Yet he never called himself English, even though he may have been born there.
Amazingggg ❤
I love him and his voice I can’t believe he had mouth cancer I don’t think he has sung since he is a legend
I love your intros mate, they're brilliant and introducing model next to yah is about as cool as sitting next to her ah bro.
In 13.7 billion years of the universes existence, everyone who is alive today should be grateful they lived in the era of John Farnham. He's the best that's ever been and will be and I don't need a time machine to know that

Do yourselves a huge faver, listen to the complete concert, guarantee to please and possible make it difficult to listen to anyone else.
You mentioned John sounded a little hoarse. This was the last song of a two hour concert.
John actually sang 2 more songs after this, he ended the concert with Long way to the top. 😊

Hey also, calling people dude (not sexist),. In Australia, we say mate. I can totally call a woman mate.
It’s not crazy it’s an indoors concert
His first hit sadly the cleaning lady..
