The times they are a-changing in the electric vehicle world, and fast. Where do you land on the question of whether you should buy an EV now or wait? Let us know in the comments!
Where is the electric Mercedes CLA in this list? Will be the best EV of its class and should be available in 2025. And where is the upcoming BMW iX3? Should be available in early 2026. Both offer massive range, 800V System, new highly connected infotainment systems with augmented reality HUD, LIDAR sensors, bidirectional charging with V2H
It is pretty bad in comparison to the new Skoda Elroq or KIA EV3 tho, except if you are really looking for that extra bit of power the Volvo EX30 offers
Having sat in both, the Volvos build quality is in a different league. The EV6 is also literally 3 times slower to 60mph, and takes 10 metres more in stopping distance tests. Software has also been great on our EX30. Had loads of updates adding new features; and love watching UA-cam in the car while charging.
It’s a shame that America cannot get the full choice of the world’s best EVs, 90% of which are Chinese. No BYD, Nio, Xpeng, Zeekr, Lynk&Co, AVATR, Huawei, Aito, Stellato, Xiaomi, Yangwang, Denza, etc etc. Sad!
Stop stealing our shit and turnaround and undercut the companies you stole from. Have a true open and fair market. Stop the communist government bankrolling flooding the markets. America welcomes Japanese, Korean, European cars with open arms. China wants to play fair they are welcome.
I wish Tesla would have added a HUD to the Model Y. Having said that, I'm strongly considering putting deposits on the Rivian R2 and the Scout Traveler EREV. Figure out which one fits me best after they come out. PS: Edmunds should know this, but Ram already nixed the 500 mile range REV truck. They'll be releasing their EREV truck first.
I had a 2.0 L 4 cylinder in my 2019 Outlander PHEV. It was very noisy and not efficient at all working at high RPM's when the traction battery was discharged. It appeared to be way too small for the vehicle.
"Factor in a variant with over 350 miles of range, and another with a price tag in the mid 30,000 range" I appreciate the precision of language here. Other shoddy outlets would've just said "$30,000 and 350 miles of range" implying you get both.
I’m surprised you guys didn’t mention the eye watering depreciation current gen EV’s are experiencing. Recently I’ve seen 2023 Nissan Ariya top trim models that had an MSRP of $60k, sell for $24k, with under 10-thousand miles on the clock. They also qualify for the used EV tax credit, which drops the price on the hood another $4k. It’s astonishing to see in terms of used prices right now.
In the US, the Tesla Model Y qualifies for the $7500 federal credit (bringing down the price to $52,490 with any color option interior/exterior and any wheel configuration and includes FSD and an Acceleration Boost) and may also qualifies for some other state/city rebates/credits depending on where you live.
The Dodge Charger Daytona is an embarrassment! The company really needs to get their minds set on why they want to do an EV and lean into it's benefits and value proposition without being stuck in some silly nostalgic past.
What does the average American look for in an EV? Is it really the technical specs - power, range, charging curve, or do most people just choose a nice design without knowing much of what’s underneath?
I agree. I would much prefer to have dash cluster and buttons for basic functions. Driving a Tesla at night is strange with only having the screen. It’s too dark.
I bought a Tesla and missed buttons. I felt that I was taking my eyes off the road too much using the tablet. Sold it and glad to be back to an EV with buttons.
Honestly I would be fine with screen type buttons if they made direct buttons to get to the system you are looking for. Most manufacturers make you dig through the screen just to get to climate controls or navigation. With screens the size of average laptops or even smaller TV screens. You'd think that there would be a customizable button layout in the screen to move the icons wherever you please. Which is absurd that when we have tablet like screens. Where most manufacturers will not allow full customizable home screen functions for better ease of use. Why not allow consumers to put their climate control button on the home screen, or headlight functions, or seat functions, or whatever. I watched a jeep video the other day where they had to press the screen 3 or 4 times just to get to the climate controls. Asinine at the very least.
Americans want hybrids and PHEVs, not EVs. The small percentage of early adopters already have theirs. Just look at Tesla. Their sales and profits have been declining and will decline even more for the next ten years. Toyota and Honda can't keep their hybrids in stock. Unlike Tesla which needs a big government incentive ($7500 discount) to sell, Toyotas and Hondas sell for above MSRP and zero government incentive.
Tesla sales haven't "declined". They're flat. Probably due to people waiting on the refreshed Model Y Juniper. Now, that the refreshed Model Y has been released, sales will skyrocket again. Didn't you hear? There were 50,000 orders on the first day of sale in China.

Rivian R3 will be incredible!
By the time it comes out you’ll need the R2 cause you’ll have kids by then 😂
lucid gravity?
Cant wait for BMW Neue Klass and Rivian R3 ;)
I am excited about the new Bolt. We love our 22 Bolt.

Had our Volvo EX30 twin motor performance in the UK for 9 months now and it’s the best car I’ve ever driven.

interesting that Lucid or the German EVs were not listed.

“more better” “more bigger” 😮 Just say bigger or better
Which one will support fascism? Tesla, of course.
The "Swastikar".

4:06 What's the point of a V6 if it doesn't drive the wheels? Wouldn't it be more fuel efficient to put in a smaller gas engine or diesel?

Waiting for the Model SS ✋

You should absolutely wait 2-3 years if you can to buy a new ev car.

There will be nothing light weight about the EV Boxster.
My 2022 Tesla Y has the turn signal stalk - there are some that don’t?
No
Nissan has a few in the pipe too. New Leaf should be coming this year at least to Europe, and they have a BEV truck on the way as well
Boring. Bring in the chinese EV then we'll talk.
500 mile Ram was canceled
0:11 no, but what you can actually test drive.

The Chinese cars are coming too
Now Tesla, bring back the dash, for those of us who want it, and a few basic buttons. I just don't want to have to mess with a tablet to do anything
Buttons for what?

I have a Tundra and Tesla. I have to touch the tundra screen way more, and for longer (drill down menus), than the tesla.
third
They ruined the Scout making it an EV 🙄
It looks pretty cool to me. Not too mention the dude said that theres a gas extender version
what kind of tech Japanese brands have for EV? They just import Chinese EV Tech...

@@daniele4568 but she speaks for all UA-cam commenters that may or may not even be in the market for a new car apparently.
