Thank you for the information and detailed presentation of what is in computers. One of the main reason I like the scrapping hobby is that a lot of stuff is kept from going to the landfill.
Hi everyone. Great film as to be expected Tin Man. Although this is educational vid on scraping precious metals I find breaking down even the small units like the disc player money making. For example the little steel runners on the DVD carriage I sell on eBay to model makers and arts and craft enthusiasts. The tiny drive belts as well. It’s a bit time consuming admittedly but so much is sellable. Great work Tin Man from another London, U.K. Best wishes to all.
Hello Tin man I am from Canada too I got into this to help my girlfriend with the mortgage to our house and so far we are doing really good thank you for this video now I know what to do with computers
Best of luck! Yeah, it is a nice little extra money maker. Some days are better than others with scrap pickup, but still amazing what you can find on the curb. Thanks for watching. Stay well and happy scrapping.
i m your greatest fan man the way you present it its like more of manual so excited to see you on other videos,,,, not like automatic manual more like digital manual and i even dont understand what i am commenting so great ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
i would like to see a video showing all the computer components and there variations. it would be great if they were labeled as to what they are and if they are worth keeping
Awesome as always and try skating a file on that computer wire that looks metallic I'd bet it's just tin or silver plated copper wire which has its own category ♻🌎👍
Hi Angie, thanks for the comment and for watching. Amazing the different prices we get from country to country, province to province, and state to state for the same materials. Stay well and happy scrapping.
I stop to pick up 2 computer towers from the curb and the guy came out and asked if I wanted more so I picked up 15 computer towers. I'll be busy tomorrow.
Truth is its best to save ANYTHING that works. There is more value in parts than in scrap! And can probably make more money from a garage sale. And actually sending it to the scrapyard is j just a slower method of going to a landfill. Truth is if someone can use it for something its better than scrapping
@@jamesfirth1280 I'm talking about computers and consoles. They can be repurposed too. Scrapping creates a majority of ewaste. There's documentaries on it, they end up in other continents sitting around (china, asia africa i think) Even if i've got WHERE it ends up wrong the reality is most of it isn't actually recycled. Its just a means to hoard it for future plans which are more complicated than you think. its really the pentium 4 era OEM like Dell or H P that have l ittle value, (because they are a pain vs a custom pc) But even then you can cheaply sell the ram, hdd, optical drive for small profit more than scrapping. Same with the sata cable (the blue one you cut), still useful for projects. Those cases are basic but able to be repurposed. You can see tell tale signs of if it was ever a gaming oriented case (more fan openings, bays for drives (hdd or optical) Basically from what i could see those dells and that white case (anywhere from pentium 2 to 4 based upon typical setups), were the more valuable ones. I'd estimate those processors to likely be pentium 4 to core2quad (save for the 2 dell they may be early i5/i7) Take it from a actual pc technican who doesn't just use modern (i save and repurpose those parts myself)
Yes. there are a few if they are thick gauge and clean of all glue or paste I do put with #1. However, because a lot of it is coated or thinner than 16 gauge or has glue on it it is #2

I do have another video on scrapping computer towers
I'm from Ontario and could possibly be interested in used parts if I can get them cheap enough. Especially 64 bit motherboards with the chips and ram.

I agree with that it's probably still copper
Hi. My name is Angie Miller. I live in Dallas Texas U.S.A the price for tin is only 6 ¢ a lb. Ok thanks for listening! I ❤ ur video!

Will the copper from the copper donuts go into number 2 copper?
Great video
So are ram sticks better for gold recovery or to sell out-tight?
I would sell them online, especially if you have them in bulk.
4 to 6 cents a pound for tin shred here in Kansas city Missouri
Tin is only 7 - 8 cents a pound central New York

Nice score for sure! Happy scrapping
Tin Man, you need to find a better buyer for your boards :-)

Of course, and that is why I will check first. I have donated tons of fans, microwaves, etc. to Goodwill i they work.

How did it go? Did you execute your plan??
Be careful taking apart those power supply’s then can hurt or kill you
Yup, just like capacitors, got to be careful and discharge any potential stored energy first. Thanks.
First

2nd =)?
