Room of a German Tribal Art collector

- This is the first video I ever tried to do. It shows one room in my house full of Tribal Art such as Mami Wata sculptures from Togo or Voodoo objects from Haiti. My website is www.about-africa.de. I like all your masks. The pig nosed ones are really interesting. Despite their close proximity, the collection has a soul, which might be lost if they were all separated and on stands or in glass cases. The Haitian vou dou objects are surreal.....very appealing, and shocking at the same time.
This is inspiring. I love your Art Collection. I should do a UA-cam video of my collection as well.
The tribalists use the art to collect the dead. These communicate through ordinary telekinesis or sometimes the singing of anthems. The brite songs take them back to their times. The more grotesque the mask, the fonder the memory. The children were not of age. So, they are forgotten.

Hi there, thanks for letting us have a look at your collection. at 2:41 in the video there are two funny looking wooded statues next to the shortest twin figures and before the larger dark-brown figure. Are these also twin figures?
Maybe they are a pair, but they are not twin figures: They come from Tanzania.

Yes, I did obtain them legally :-) However, there is not so much interest among people to see them to do an exhibition. And: An exposure room costs to much money.

Which one do you mean? The large fern tree sculptures? Or the stone lid of a urn?

why refer to art as tribal? we need to change our language.Don't get me wrong I appreciate your channel but this is traditional art instead of "tribal"
I fully understand you! In my newst vdeos I mostly use 'traditional'. However: The wording 'tribal art' is learned and people are still searching for this.

@@afrofeast But most of the pieces were sold by the owners between 1970ies to 1980ies, mostly in Togo. Why should the get back piecs which they sold?

@@afrofeast Sorry, but do you know there are stil existing cults like Mami Wata in Togo and that they still create objects for ritual purposes? So, why should they take old ones if they have new ones?

Have you ever thought about returning the artifacts since the original acquirement of them was due to robbery in colonial times?
Most objects you see in my room were collected/bought from dealers in Africa in the 1970ies until the 1990ies. They have nothing to do with 'robbery in colonial times".

Dear Jackyo Art, most art you see here was bought in Togo in the 1970ies. And some of the carvers still live and create such objects. Why should it be given back? Everybody can still buy this in Togo.
