The Dunk and egg books really helped expand on Maekar after he only got about a page of information before. You can imagine the panic seeing this random hedge knight he has heard kidnapped his son, wrestling with his other son in the mud and striking blindly at whatever happened to be in his way. There’s also a theory that it was actually Aerion who struck the blow to Baelor and Maekar simply allowed Westeros to think him a kinslayer and exiled his son not only for his shameful actions but out of disgust at what he had done to Baelor. Then instead of taking vengeance on Duncan for unwittingly triggering this whole mess, he tried to do something good for Egg.
Some times small decision has a huge impact. By sending Prince Aemon to Citadel a grave mistake was made. If he succed his father he will be another Jahnerys. But that decision was a great blessing to Nights Watch.
Shit doesn't make since honestly, my only guess is because aegon 5 was merciful and because blood raven wasn't his hand because by all tense and purposes house peak should have been wiped out I mean Targaryen Kings wiped out houses for less .
I never really think to much about it, but he killed his brother. I mean yeah it was an accident but he still killed his brother. As much as he was envious of his older brother, I'm sure he loved and respected him. I wonder if he ever felt worthy when he got the throne?
Hell no at best well make it to daeron 2 if even that given how detailed gourge was in the first vol of fire and blood, gourge has a bad habit of overestimating himself I mean asoiaf was supposed to only be 3 books not 7 .
Probably not. Anything from the reign of Aerys I to Aegon V would spoil a lot of what I'm assuming will be the backdrop of the events of the Dunk and Egg books. Odds are that if we ever get a Blood and Fire, itll end with the Blackfyre Rebellion.
He reminds me of stannis in personality with his relationship tobreakspear and Aeries seeming like a more positive version of stannis and Robert and renlys relation ships.
His reign was largely uneventful...because no one was stupid enough to attack while he was in charge.
Yep and once he died another blackfaire rebellion happened almost immediately after aegon 5 became king .
Except the Peakes

King Maekar is most likely top 5 best kings of Westros
You’re never getting a better king than if maester aemon was next in succession
True but I dont think maesters can be lords or kings. Only hands.
Obviously House Targaryen could make an exception

I honestly have no idea why tf the peakes weren't purged from existence after maekar's reign?
Because House Peake is Peak😄
Sorry, I don't get it either, but I had to say it.

I actually really liked Maekar. He wasn't his brother by any means, but he seemed a genuinely good king in his own right.
Good one sir

he clearly didn't want him to die.
It was an accident.... Maekar never fully recovered from this...
For House Blackwood of Raventree Hall
House Bracken better.

I'm beginning to think Fire and Blood could not cover everything from the reign of Aegon III to Aerys II in a single volume.
