I think this detachment is sort of meh at the moment, but if the big chaos knights get a lower cost and the abominant is buffed a bit (critical wounds on 5+ at below half range would be a good start I think) and maybe get an epic character big knight, then I think this might come into its own when the codex comes out.
ya i've been running the current detachment with all war dogs. its pretty good. i cant imagine playing without the knights of shade stratagem. its basically critical for knights. i usually use it in the move phase, and again in the charge phase. typically use stick on my character, and thats it. i think the idea of the new detachment is cool, and it would play well with big knights, and a horde of cultists. that being said, i agree we need a special character like Canis Rex, or a better army/detachment rule. imperial knights army rule is way better. i'd love to have a feel no pain, and ability to get some extra command points, with a reroll to hit and wound every activation... while the chaos knights are fun, and the army rule can be useful. a new detachment isnt going to fix a bad army rule. i'm def looking forward to the new codex, some more detachments, and hopefully a better army rule!
@@WarHammerMan have a go at the new detachment with several big knights aka despoiler and lancer possibly an atrapos... despoiler with 36 shots gatlings with lethal and sustained 1 slaps hard
