I only use liquid chlorine for sanitizer, but this yr I decided I would go with a cal hypo shock to sanitize. Your ideas of ph and alkalinity are very different than what I've always heard. But I do say, i continue to fight to keep ph lower, the way its recommended.
Hi Lorraine, we are not experts on copper ionizer systems, so we do not know what optimal pH would be. As for alkalinity, it shouldn’t affect the system’s efficacy, but it would impact the rate of pH change. Consult the system’s manufacturer for their recommendations, and when you see them, ask them WHY those are the recommendations.
@@OrendaTechnologies this ionization system was installed in the 90's and the company is no longer in the business. I had to really search to find the same kind of annode, so we were always just using the old info, but after hearing your u tube video it was so interesting and that was the reason for my questions. I do not have a lot of trouble with algae, but last yr I did have a considerable amt. of cooper staining by the end of the season. Its gone now, after turning off the system for winter, even tho I keep my pool open. The water is beautiful now, and this yr I'm going to use cal hypo instead of liquid chlorine. I didn't realize with the liquid about the excess salt. Could that have added to my staining problem. Acid would cut the stain, when poured directly on it in the shallow end. Pool suppliers in my city are not familiar with the ionizer and only want to test and sell chemicals. Thats why I constantly research and when I listened to your u tube videos they were so worth while. Thanks for the info.
