I really don’t understand why there’s been so many different opinions on this. It’s really quite simple. You don’t get to raise your hands and smack someone in the face because they’ve said something you don’t like. If we can’t all agree on that, then we may as well just throw in the towel and give it up. Regina Hall’s joke about the Smiths earlier was more scathing than Rock’s. Would it have been okay for Smith to clean her clock? No, of course not. And it’s no different. It’s not suddenly okay to attack someone who said something you don’t like because they’re a guy. That even means no hitting allowed *even when* you’re showing milady you’re a big strong man! And the disgusting ovation Smith got, I think, just further ingrains the idea that Hollywood is a trash can of some of the most sycophantic, hypocritical, conformists in your country.
The best take I’ve seen so far was Jim Carrey’s. Which was unequivocal condemnation of Smith and the putrid cesspool of the Hollywood crowd in the audience.
You absolutely DO get to raise your hands and smack the dog shit out of someone if they say somting you don't like. I gaurentee I can think of about 300 reasons right of the top of my had that would make it ok. If a grow man stars cursingat your child all kinds of nasty shit would it be ok? If someone insulted your loved one and started laughing at them would you be ok to smack them. your gonna say no but we wall know you think it would be ok. So it's fine for you once we change the dynamics around a little untill the point where you feel hurt or betrayed. Jus because wat happened at the Grammys doesn't mean your threshold for violence, not every has the same threshold. If you call a black guy a n word to their face you would orb say it's ok for them to smack. That doesbt meet my threshold so should I get to criticisr the.

The take at the end was very interesting. I watch a lot of Chris rock and didn’t know his history with bullies, but it makes me even more sad now what transpired. Not just the slap, but the subsequent standing ovation.

Jamie is such a cool guy. This is amongst the best commentary I saw thus far, and I looked at alot of commentary on this issue. I wouldn't be shocked if Jamie one day wins an Oscar. I am dead serious if he gets a role that is a great fit for him.

Hey man, just watched As Good As It Gets for the first time since I was a kid. Lost my mind when “Billy AND Randy” showed up. You were great btw - terrifying in a particular shot. How did that casting happen? Did Jim Brooks show up on the set of Scary Movie and was like “those guys are to report to my set after they’re done!” Or did he lure you in with the promise of Jack and Helen and a good script? Any deleted scenes?

No one's talking about the actual style of the slap. It comes from under the line of sight. He doesnt wind up and bring his arm back behind his shoulder like you normally would or should to create more power. So thats why Chris Rock never sees it coming. Bitch move by Will Smith but smart if you dont want the other guy to dodge it. It even looks comedic in which the way Will delivers the slap. He kinda hops as he's slapping Chris at the same time. Idk. Something seems strange about the whole incident...
I never thought it was fake, but one thing that was suspect was the Will immediately turned around and walked back. Like he knew Chris wouldn't rush him. Usually when you hit someone, you face them and are ready for them to attack.
