Good vid Jeff, and some very nice fish. If you were fishing Saturday then you had the same topwater bite that I had. I was south of you. Got my inshore grand slam for the second week, flounder included, and felt like I was baking once the sun got up. We’ll meet over there one day and I’m looking forward to it. We share a lot of techniques and opinions. Keep after em, you teach me all the time. Tight lines……Tim
Nice to see someone fishing local. Fresh water line is pushing out away from land because of all the rain we have flowing into the lagoon. Trout will stay further away from shore where there’s consistent salinity but the reds and snook will be in those flooded creeks and banks. Pencil is a great lure definitely give it another try. Especially with all the small baits in the area right now.
Thanks. Yes, I'll try the Yozuri another couple times. It sure looks like it'll catch em and as I said in the video the last trip was unproductive on top too.
It is Oct 14-18 in Englewood. Many attendees only come for the Saturday events though, which include the boat show, dinner, raffles and boat giveaway. There is a group on Facebroke called gheenoeholics. Best place to keep up on Gheenoe-related events.
Some nice Reds there Jeff. I’m heading to Mosquito Lagoon in two weeks . Don’t give up on that Yo-Zuri I don’t promote lures either but I caught a lot of Reds on it in the last few weeks. I don’t mention the name in the videos but any fish on top water was that lure in the last few weeks. I do change the hooks on them because the Reds will straighten the factory hooks out. Have a good week.
Nice vid, thx bro! I use to fish the lagoon a lot when I lived in Orlando, but it was out of a kayak and I was still trying to master fly fishing, so success was limited, I'm up in Jax now, and saving up for a small boat. Was just too hard to fly fish out of a yak. cheers!
I was down there sasturday and there are mullet EVERYWHERE, also lotsss of white bait mixed in. Im head back down in like an hour lol
Good luck! Was out yesterday and it was slower and smaller. Wasn't terrible, just not terribly exciting.

This video was actually Sunday, but thank you just the same. It was a nice day for me, cool, uncrowded, kind of a rarity for a weekend.

Thanks for the tip Hank! I like the lure overall. It has good action and sound, so I'm sure it will work eventually. I'll give it a few more chances.

I sure don't throw the long rod much anymore, but I know I should. Maybe when it gets cooler and visibility improves I'll break it out again. Thanks!
