How To Lose Stubborn Belly Fat In 3 Steps (And How Long It Will Take You)

- Finally ready to do what it takes to lose that stubborn belly fat of yours? Great! And I’m here to help you. In this video, I cover the truth on how to lose stubborn belly fat, and how long it’ll take you to burn belly fat, so you finally achieve a flat belly. To successfully get rid of stomach fat, you’re going to have to get down to ideally around 10% body fat or so. But why is belly fat so difficult to lose?
First, when compared to other areas of your body, stubborn areas like your belly fat consist of a higher amount of a specific type of fat cell that's very resistant to mobilization and a lot more difficult to burn off. Second, the subcutaneous fat covering your abdominal area also receives significantly less blood flow than other parts of your body do. And this makes things more difficult because the less blood flow an area of your body receives, the more difficult it becomes to mobilize and burn off the fat from that area. The good news, however, is that losing your belly fat is not impossible.
When it comes to how to lose stubborn belly fat, the first step is something that most of you are probably familiar with but is hands down the most crucial step. Because to lose fat from anywhere, you need to be in a calorie deficit. And your belly fat is no different. So to start, you need to be eating at a calorie deficit and combining this with regular weightlifting for the best results. But your belly fat, in particular, is where things get a little trickier and are where the next two steps become crucial.
To get rid of stomach fat, the next step has to do with mobilizing your belly fat. But the only way to do this is by adhering to step 1, a calorie deficit, for long enough until fat loss starts to finally come off from your belly. Meaning that you need to ride out the calorie deficit for long enough such that your body has stripped off enough fat from other areas and now needs to rely more on burning off your belly fat for fuel. Also, there seems to be an inverse relationship between your body fat percentage and abdominal blood flow, and as a result of this, leaner individuals exhibit significantly higher blood flow to their belly fat than less lean individuals do. Simply meaning that as you gradually strip off more and more fat from other areas of your body and get leaner, your body will actually start redirecting more and more blood flow to your belly fat so that it can start prioritizing and using that for energy.
There are a couple of things that you can do to burn belly fat faster. First, you want to ensure that you're regularly performing abs exercises and getting stronger with them over time. So what I’d recommend is incorporating various weighted abs exercises into your weekly routine and overloading them overtime to grow them. Also, a 2017 paper has suggested that you can even potentially “spot reduce” fat from your belly. Applying this to your belly fat, you could, for example, perform an ab workout to first increase the blood flow and fat mobilization from that region and then follow that up with 30 minutes or so of low-intensity cardio to selectively burn off the fat that's been mobilized. But at the end of the day, steps 1 and 2 need to be where you put most of your focus and effort. Because it's been proven time and time again in the literature and my experience that by applying those 2 steps alone, your stubborn fat will eventually be mobilized and burned off for a flat belly.
And for a step-by-step program that puts this all of this together for you, such that you know exactly how to train and what to eat week after week to lean down and strip off fat as quickly as possible just like Dylan and several other members have done with their Built With Science programs, then simply take the analysis quiz below to find out what science-based program best suits you and your body:

Well physique transformation it's a long term game, a marathon instead of a sprint race. Realistically it takes about 8 months - 1 year. Just keep at it, keep pushing, eat clean, high protein, train hard every other day, sleep well. Take pictures every month. After 1 year you'll have a completely different body . . .

Step 0: Suck your belly in.
Step 1: Eat less
Step 2: Don't quit
Step 3: Workout
You don’t have to eat less just eat healthier for example a chocolate is 555 calories while a bowl of salad 🥗 is also 555 calories. With salad it’s easier to burn calories and you are full.
@@eriyenbuz2528, 🤢 Salad?? I rather eat 50 calories of chocolate than touch a salad.
@@CHRISTIANNWO then you’ll never get fit.
@@CHRISTIANNWO it was just an example also salad tastes good m8 :/
As a guy who's having success losing fat and building muscle, here's my advice: Eat high-protein, nutritionally dense food that you find delicious, ditch the junk food and definitely don't touch a salad.
I wasn't kidding when I said I'd eat 50 calories of chocolate over a salad. There's more nutrition in chocolate, especially if you purchase healthy dark chocolate that's very low in sugar. I keep on track with my goals because everything I eat is delicious and pack a punch in terms of nutrition. I don't waste my time nor torture myself with salads.
PS I was kidding around about the salads; I don't like em, but if you really dig them, then dig in.....To the nearest mental institution ✌️😚

Hey, can I ask how it went? I hope it all worked out.
just want to comment that Dylan's journey and realistic transformation is the reason why I keep coming back to this video every week or so. It's really nice to see and has kept me on track since I started trying to lose weight.
It's frustrating not looking big but being 'fat' at the same time. I started at 185lbs and 21% bodyfat and am now 170 and 17% Bodyfat at 5'11" entering my 2nd month of fatloss. I can hardly tell any difference while looking in the mirrors but am noticing that I have a lot more endurance when moving around and my pants are starting to fit more loosely.
I just wish the process were more linear, I've gone a week where no change happens on the scale at all and then the next two days I'll drop about 2 - 3 lbs on the scale and not lose any lean mass in that ordeal.
So yeah - not sure what the point of this comment was but I'm happy to see the drastic change that happened to Dylan and am hoping to see something similar in myself.
going from 17% to 10% seems so surreal though... but it definitely seems like consistency is everything with these things.
Just wish I could add some muscle instead of maintaining it during this lol.

he #1 thing is planned and structured diet, because the only way for your body to burn fat is to use it as energy. Basically, you need to eat below your energy maintenance level (in terms of calories) and your fat cells will be used to compensate the missing energy (calories). That's how your body works. There are other things to consider as well, such as hormonal status, diseases... but caloric deficit is a must. You have a lot of online diet planners and calculators: Dietarize for example (I am not an affiliate 😁). Losing/gaining weight is just a simple math, really...
👍
Fuck all the math and tracking. Just fast every day so you literally cant eat that much food in one day. 8 only eat lunch at 12ish and a pre workout snack at 5:30ish. No dinner and no breakfast. I’ve been working out for almost a month and lost about 20lbs but i feel like my fat still looks the same! I love that he explained this perfectly and I won’t give up!!
How's the progress?
update
Yo its been 8 months tell us about the progress.
Hands down one of the best belly fat videos I've seen. Thanks so much for posting!
The best bodybuilding UA-cam in the game man, no gimmicks no click baiting or sensationalizing. Nothing but straight science backed facts and useful information. Thank you man
Jeremy ethier and jeff cavalier uploading a fat loss video in the same hour? Hmm im gonna get 1% body fat in no time 😎😎
Jeff's video was just talking nonsense, Jeremy's was motivating af💪
Zayn زين if u thought it was non sense then you’re probably one of those guys not making any progress and following some bs diet.
@@zaynzayn8206 how though
he could've trimmed the video and said the same thing in like 5 minutes, but the points made were absolutely valid. fad diets don't work, only the one you stick to does.
@@meezfreak21
Don't worry about my progress honey
@@ChadX
Maybe "nonsense" was not the right word. It does make sense, but it is just so damn basic....
"stick to your diet and make commitment".
Besides that he could have said this in 1 minute, he already has at least 2 other videos in which he says just the SAME thing.
Seems like AthleanX has no more ideas for content
Just did my first routine for Phase A (Beginner's Guide), and I'm feeling incredible! Positive for the future for the first time since high-school :)
I am saving this video so I can watch later when I ultimately start to lose confidence in my weight loss goals. I never knew higher priority areas of the body will lose weight first. Very interesting
That guy even got happier with the results on the pictures
Who wouldnt lol...?
Daniel 115 lmao dude I noticed the same thing looking good outside will make you feel good on the inside! I’m sure he loved what he saw! He deserves it man, he must’ve worked insanely hard!
It's a bit weird though, because that guy also gained a significant amount of muscle mass in this process. This means it was definitely not just a simple cut.
I’m so comfortable he makes me feel like I’m watching a presentation at school
maybe this was the best and most honest video on the topic that I have ever seen.
Thanks Man for some deep education of belly fat loss. I’ve been doing high sprinting exercises and semi sprints exercises for 2 weeks now. My body is toning up n I’ve lost some face fat but the belly slightly. I’ll keep step 1 going and step 2 as a priority to never give up n keep going
Sounds like this guy knows what he’s talking about. Other people just talk crazy
@@KindlyUmbreon but that is nothing
Talk with evidences and research, that's the way to go.
As someone who is beginning to dive into fitness, i needed to see this.
How did this help you?
Wow! A video that highlighted specifically what I've been doing wrong, put the science to it, gave me the steps to correct it and all under 10mins? Honestly, thank you.
LOVE that you're using science to showcase better health and fitness. This channel was so needed!
The best part of your videos is that we never even think of skipping forward at any point. You keep it engaging till the end. Great work man. Love your content. 👏💪
How many of those dark blue tank tops you got?
😂😂thats exactly what I was wondering
1
He refuses to wash it. It’s how he keeps it so dark🤣🤣🤣 jk
equal ammount to blue shorts guy from that other channel.
Lmao
12 to 18 weeks is the first time I’ve been told realistic numbers. I’m currently in week 4 and I’m grateful for this video.
How did it go?
This is the most informative belly fat lost video I’ve ever seen. Thank you!
I appreciate this guy not yelling quickly like everyone else.
Respect for the basic analysis of studies and referencing style.
I recently found this channel and I’ve been getting a lot of value from it. Awesome!
I like how he just gives it to you straight and doesn't make ip something like losing all your fat in a few days like some other channels do
I'm glad i found this video and watched till it finished. Aye, let's do this..!
I like how you present science based information instead of broscience. And I really like the fact that you don't flex doucheily in the camera for like 20 minutes and only give 2 minutes of information like other fitness channels on YT. Thanks for helping out people better themselves!
WOW. Finally a video with helpful and motivating information 😭 I'm DEFINITELY gonna tone up now. Thank you so much for this
Great video bruh, I learned A LOT of information just now and it all just makes sense, keep up the good work💪🏾
I know, Jeremy uploads on every weekend to kickstart our week days❤️.
This is the best explanation of losing body fat that I’ve ever seen
