  • here is me trying to contain my emotions while taking the first looks at my newest synth
this one is 90s and has the same features as the Pro-E but on steroids
all i need now is a floppy
im also making another video explaining how to use the chord sequencer record functions on the Pro-E and G-800
i spent hours in both manuals cuz its not very straightforward
the G-800 startet looping the recording like i wanted after i disabled "stl" or something like that
it was like 1 line in the 170 page manual like expected 🥲

2024 : I still have this in my studio. I bought it in 1994. And it still good till today. I mod the floppy disk to USB, it can still play MIDI files. I want to sell it, but it has too many nostalgic memories when I still have gig from those days.

@@fensterputzernuernberg Roland have Great quality i have 4 different Roland keyboard/synths i love them all in Different ways. VINTAGE ROLAND HAS INCREDIBLE QUALITY!
      And amazing sounds.
The G-800 can be connected to a daw with midi and with audio cables.
The G-800 is very nice sounding and has very nice drums and accompaniment styles
I basically plays 4-5 different instruments for you.
And you can also edit the sounds and swap instruments on the backing.
Its great for making massive arrangements very quickly.
      It also has amazing keys
Its very big tho. ITs the biggest one i own.
All in all its a very impressive keyboard arranger, drum machine, synthesizer and midi recorder all in one
Pluss is has more than 900 diffrent sounds

You made out like a fat cat on this! You remind me of my friend Joe who’s always picking up some ridiculously cheap deals on keyboards! Last time I visited him he had a Hammond B3 in his living room! I’m a guitar player who plays a little keyboards, just for my demo recordings! I’m not going even tell what I’ve collected over the years in synth modules and keyboards and I want more but I have no space in my home studio which is in my living room!

I can relate to the struggle of having too many units.. but luckily i know when to sell something and buy something else.
      Thanks for watching!

I have my G800 in its flight case - I don't use it anymore, but I simply cannot let go of it. Never could. It was state of the art when I bought it back in 1997. Also; it's not a synth - it's an arranger keyboard. There's no oscillators or engines as synths have; but the arranger module is pretty decent and the sounds enabled me to make my first songs via Cakewalk, which I used for PC back in the day.
The floppy disk drive was for adding new rhytms/styles - original disks could be bought from Roland, or you could simply just make your own if you had a software like Cakewalk.
I earned a lot of money on this keyboard - as I played for birthday parties and the like - and it always performed like a champ with no issues.

Sorry for late reply! Thats super rad thanks for sharing! The G-800 is definetly growing on me day by day i love the keys and play them daily.
Also thanks alot for the info i love instrument facts. And im sorry for calling it a synth but tbh i also call organs synths and practice pianos too. Im pretty loose with the terms on stuff 😅funny you said cakewalk its my only daw recently

Thats awesome man! Ill let you know when i get stuck 🙏😸 right now im playing with the midi out but its pretty straightforward..
always awesome to meet fellow synth players... Especially the G-800 which is an absolute beast! And one of my favourite instruments in general!
Its perfect for people with huge ideas and also sounds amazing as a piano/synth and everything between

Hi @Gunner Joe @technocombo. I am about about to buy one for 120$ to play in a small band with some friends. Do you know if it can be connected to an amplifier?

    • @junksmith_wizard
      @junksmith_wizard  2 роки тому +1

@@lefteriskoulierakis it can! It has a headphones jack in the front and also stereo outputs in the back. So it depends a bit on what amp you are using but its definitely doable 👍

@@junksmith_wizard So did you manage to look your recordings, I was looking into a g800, but I'd like to be able to loop? How good is it in 2022?

    • @junksmith_wizard
      @junksmith_wizard  Рік тому

@@thewizardsofthezoo5376 its a great keyboard but its very very large and also has a "old school" sound and vibe
Its fancy and has great keys. If you like editing synth sounds its not very deep.
If you like arrangement stuff its great!
But its also as big as a "electric grand"
      So not easy to transport.
I love the drum sounds it has and i also love the flopoy feature although there isnt many good options for styles.
But depending on what you pay it might be worth it.
I say go for it but don't pay over 150$
For 150$ you can probably get something way more useful that takes batteries and can be carried in a bag easily.
If you are really into cheesy 80s/90s sounds it can be hilarious tho.
And also is great with other similar keyboards connected with midi.
2 sets of midi ports so 2 in 2 out and 2 through.
