I just finished most of my winter stock up of groceries. Next month after getting what I need to for some Christmas gifts, I'll be doing my non food items stock up. I'm 71 year's old and retired. I have been very blessed by God to be able to stock up because I really don't have that much money every month. Some how, God always blesses me so I can pay my bills and have more than enough to get ahead. I also try to help out my daughter who is in a wheelchair full time and raising 3 girls. She is my strength.
Becky thank you for sharing! I'm so glad the Lord has blessed you with being able to stock up! And nice to know you have great support within your family! We went to Iowa for our Bible quizzing nationals trip a couple years ago!
I am also blessed because I was able to fill both of my big freezers in the basement plus the one on my fridge. I do that by buying things in large bulk when on sale and breaking it down for myself using my seal-a-meal. I usually cook enough at one time so I have leftovers. Many things taste better the next day. If I make a ham, roast, and a whole chicken, I'll think of the different meals that I can make from them. Sometimes I'll put half of the meat in my seal-a-meal bags for a later time. Then the meat is already cooked so it isn't as time consuming. God bless you and your family.
That sounds like a very wise and amazing system you have! I do some of those same things...I love cooking a bunch of meat (like a big turkey) and then making many different meals from the leftovers. I haven't bought a vacuum sealer yet, but I've thought about it!
In the fall is when I start making many things with pumpkin puree. This is also when I bake different things with apples that I got from the apple orchard. Once it cools down outside, I start using my oven quite a bit for making meals and that always starts in the fall. I am from North Central Iowa. We've already had 3 nights below freezing. It has warmed up some this week but then we'll be back in the fall weather. The lower 70's and high 60's. At night it will be in the low 50's to 40's.
Very nice...do you make your own pumpkin puree? We just buy ours canned. We also have apple trees! And this was a good year for our trees apple production.
Thank you, Shannon! I love watching your hauls and hearing about your meal inspiration for recipes! Pumpkin Rolls are a family favorite for fall, especially Thanksgiving! Also, I’m a homeschool mom as well and thought your idea for the skeleton for your son’s anatomy class was great! (We don’t celebrate Halloween either.) Hope you have a great time enjoying the best season of the year, and thanks again!
Love gingerbread, but I always think of it as a closer to Christmas time fall treat. Do you make gingerbread houses or anything with it? Or just to eat?
If you don’t have Greek yogurt, you can use sour cream. They are interchangeable in recipes. Good luck it’s the queso fresco, I hope you like it just as much.
@@shannonsortore3251 yes you put all the ingredients for the stew in a pumpkin and then bake it. Then when it’s done you can scrape the pumpkin out to be part of the stew. I got the recipe from Taste of home.
Yeah it wasn't that bad.☺️ but not sure if it reacts the same way in recipes. I used it in my mushroom stuffed chicken that I baked. It was in the sauce and after it baked it was sort of separated. So maybe because of the fat free half and half?
I just came across your channel. We are a big family as well. I shop every two weeks and we go to walmart, aldi, and wegmans also. Love your grocery haul.

Hi. Fall to me in the kitchen is making pumpkin stew in a pumpkin.
Wow! How do you do that? Bake it inside the pumpkin?

I think fat free half & half tastes fine, but that's your call. Great haul. 💙

Awesome! And do you all have a favorite fall dish to cook?
@@shannonsortore3251 I make chili or some kind of soup. Pumpkin chocolate chip bread is always a must during the fall.
