Totally biased that this is one of my favorite food adjacent episodes of yours because I am a (small) collector of depression era glass, I actually started my collection during the pandemic. The history behind it is indeed sad, but the pieces are so beautiful and unique. I don’t use any of the pieces, I have them all displayed in a cabinet. Thanks for another great episode Irene!
Happy Birthday Irene. I wish everyone a happiest of birthday's and also, I believe that no matter what age we turn in 2023 that everyone should celebrate it in any way that they can and do it the best that they want to with friends and family. It should be celebrated in an awesome way.
We have pieces of my great grandma's carnival glass. My mom had little milk glass plates at her wedding and still collects jadeware. It's so beautiful!
I love the idea that Irene is bopping around life and randomly has the thought "this would make the perfect podcast episode" And we eat it up (pun intended) every single time ❤
I collect carnival glass, which is usually a colored glass that has a rainbow coating. They call it carnival glass because it was a carnival prize! ^_^
I have a few pieces of pink depression era glass that my great aunt gave me, and according to her they belonged to her grandmother. I have the same candy dish like the one on the sceen top right at 9:37!
You got me wondering about my nana's perfume glasses now .. I tried looking them up a couple years back but all I saw were cheap remakes on Amazon that looked similar .. glass is a beautiful talent , curious to know the worth of aged glass like these
I love your Bites of History podcast and all of your videos actually so I have debated saying anything about this but I'm wondering if anyone else has said anything. The "S" sound in your audio is so harsh for me. Everything sounds crystal clear but when I hear that "s" sound it hurts my ears. It could be that I'm extra sensitive to it! lol but I'm trying to listen and just turn the volume down. Am I crazy?
Irene would be such a good history teacher 🥹 history has never been a fav subject of mine but I watch these podcasts with undivided attention ❤❤❤ Irene has such a knack for sharing these stories with us. Also that glass is truly gorgeous 😍 I wonder if it’s something I’d be able to find in the UK. Would be interesting to see how these pieces move around the world with their former owners. And now when I see pieces in homeware stores that are a similar style I’ll know where the inspiration comes from 🥹
How can irene expect anyone to trust her when the only reason we even know who she is, is because she decided to publicly defend a monster (GH) for YEARS. I don’t mean to just hate post. I genuinely want an answer to this question. As a content creator, how does Irene genuinely expect anyone to trust her at this point? She publicly aligned herself with a horrific person who spend their days plotting revenge on others for having the audacity to talk about what she did to them. Irene was SO happy to be a useful idiot to GH. She say there on her podcast, collecting a paycheck, enabling and encouraging GH to lie and hurt others. That’s a real thing that happened. And she thinks she gets to just ignore that and move on? That’s not how life works. When you do bad things, you have to atone for them. Irene is entitled and selfish because she will never own up to her part in all of that.
I don’t know a lot about the depression era but I’m glad I know this now. It’s lovely to hear when people find the good in the bad times
I thought so too!! 🥹🥹
Always loved depression glass. My grandmother had a lot of beautiful pieces. Great video! ❤
Ayo on my motha that dress is neat as heck
he spittin
Hahahahahah! Thank you!
That's so cute. I honestly just thought everyone loved the muted colors because it's reminiscent of sea glass without being actual sea glass
Ooooh!! Thats an interesting take too!!
I really loved this eps! Thank you 😊

My dad collected depression glass when I was young. I have now developed a Pyrex addiction... its wild out there in the glass collecting world.
Oh my gosh. Nothing beats an old Pyrex!!
I've always loved your content ♥️

Depression era glass is my favorite thing to look at when I’m at an estate sale☺️

Only fancy people had a refrigerator in 1938.
Ralph Kramden in the "Honeymooners" had an ice box.
But Ed Norton did have a refrigerator...
I hope that you come back soon! 😊
This woman is so gorgeous
Friend of mine collects these

Irene I love you ❤❤
When corporations underpay their workers and overcharge their customers that is inflation.

JESS!! This comment is so kind, and thoughtful. Thank you very much!! 🥹
I wonder how much of it would be in the UK, too!!

Thank you for reminding me who she is. Randomly got here and thought hmm, why is she familiar?
