His voice is the instrument. In most songs, the lyrics don't really matter. For most songs, they music comes first, the lyrics come on after and especially on the first 2 albums don't make a whole of sense
@@tdawg719 Your opinion. A opinion isn't a fact as I just want to mention randomly lmao. My OPINION which is NOT A FACT is that I think his lyrics are great-☺️
His lyrics are pretty messed up imo. But there’s a reason I have the words from this song tattooed on my arm. I don’t care where, just far. We’ve all felt that.
Seriously, if you listen to alternative metal or nu metal from the late 90s to early 2000s, and you really listen closely, you will hear this song over and over.
@@cavityinfiltrator5569 This is your first time listening to Metal music? If so, I'd recommend listening to P.O.D., Korn, Breaking Benjamin, Deftones, Tool, Helmet, Alice in Chains, Love and Death.
The intake of breath before the riff kicks in always sends shivers down my whole body..!!! This song is perfect simplicity...7 words is another cold beat dude fully get involved..!!!
Inspiration was Depeche Mode “never let me down again”. Chino has sung the opening verse of that song before this song kicks in on tour. It’s one of my favourite songs of theirs, always a pick me up songs.
You could see it in his face when the first line of vocals come in. The mesmerized look that we all got when we first heard this song or any other deftones song. That was a beautiful sight.
I actually discovered the acoustic version before the original when I was 15 years old or so (many moons ago 😄) and I looooove the acoustic version because it takes me back to when I was a teen 😁
I was 17 when this album came out. My little brother and I would rock this out all the way to school. It was a huge influence on me. I still think Chino is gorgeous.
Deftones have a new album coming this year!!! Also...check out “Palms.” It’s a Chino side project that is super melodic. If you dig his vocals...check it out.
They're coming to Memphis in May and you better believe I'll be there...Been listening to these guys for years and I can't wait to see them live finally...Great reaction video!
I can’t even tell you how beyond stoked I am that you reviewed this, as I was seriously going to suggest it to you. This song is my all time favorite song in my 44 years of life on this earth. It is my spirit/soul song. I can’t even tell you how many times I am spun this shit on my chaotic hard life... There is one of the version of this song that will melt you, if you can find it. You see, Sacramento spit out a bunch of really close friends that were in separate bands and played together all the time. One of the bands that was very close to Deftones was called “Far” and they were fucking amazing too, but never got as much promotion as Deftones did from their label… The lead singer of that band was named Jonah Matranga. After Far broke up, he did his own solo thing. One of the songs he covered in his live shows was his good friend Chino’s “Be quiet and drive.” But Jonah has a completely different version that is all his own take and will seriously make you cry. It is heart wrenching. It is really the sign of an amazing song when it is written in a way where it can be re-interpreted different ways in different styles and be gut wrenching no matter which way you listen to it. I implore you to track down “Onelinedrawing Be Quiet and Drive.” Onelinedrawing is the name that Jonah went by for his solo stuff. Peace.
Old Man Rolling Home I remember they were supposed to open for Metallica in ‘03, but they had to cancel the date when I was going to see them because Chino blew out his voice.
My man, I found your channel today. Deftones are my favorite band. Chino is soooooo good. These guys came out in the 90's and are still going strong, every album has its own tone and they never get old to me.
I'm so glad you finally did BQAD! It is my all-time favorite song by my favorite band. It was the song that I first heard by Deftones and I instantly was grabbed. Seeing your reaction was awesome because I remember being the same way when I first heard it some 20 years ago!
Yes!! Sacramento in the house! For any 1st time listeners to them...Deftones are all about a vibe & feel. Keep that in mind & u can't go wrong with them.
Awesome reaction! That's what's so badass about Deftones..... They're lyrics are more poetic and you can interpret it anyway it feels to you. GOOD S**T!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥
I really like how you just smile even before the song is getting started. Just like seeing an old friend, or putting on that sweet new pair of sneakers
Awesome reaction! I love Deftones with my soul! They have so many songs to choose! All of them are beautiful and powerful. One of my favorite things about their sound is the fantastic, dynamic and super sick drumming. Abe Cunningham is amazing. Some of their other songs with "good band energy videos" that you should probably watch are: "Diamond Eyes", "You've seen the Butcher", "Rocket Skates", "Beauty School", "Hexagram", "Mein", "Prayers/Triangles", "Bloody Cape", "Street Carp", and since you've already reacted to the lyric version of My Own Summer, it would be awesome if you see the official video, which is super cool. Also, i recomend the following deftones songs that don't have a video but are just amazing: Moana, Root, Around The Fur, Beware, Graphic Nature, Phantom Bride, Rubicon, This Place Is Death, Royal, Romantic Dreams, Tempest, Gauze, Geometric Headdress, Gore, What Happened To You, Combat, Kimdracula, Royal, Risk, Nosebleed, Needles and Pins, Birthmark, Feiticeira. But ABOVE ALL you should start with KNIFE PARTY! that song is a MUST!
