If you stick a piece of "velcro" (the plastic hook part) on your tying desk, you can use it to remove the underhair very easily by swiping the hair across the velcro a few times. Keep it right above your waste basket and clean-up is super easy. 👌
Love it, not as bulky as a normal stimulator. I will definitely tie some. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos, I always look forward to them! Take Care.
Thanks so much. I think in recent years people are actually overdressing stimulators... No need to do so. Its just decreasing hook up rate i think and its more prone to twisting tippet when too bulky.
Cool tying! I've tied a few stimulators in various colours & sizes & they have been sitting in my box untried & untested for a couple of years now. Thinking they would make good duo flies.
Thanks. If you have some faster water around your place.... Just put them in gew sizes and go there to test them.... If its dry fly season you will habe responses for sure. 🍻😀
Vladi, Thanks for critiquing my fly. The deer hair I used was from Hareline, and it was not good quality. It has SO much underfur and I just can’t get it all out. Still catches fish, though. Like yours, because it can double as a caddis. Thank you.
Your fly is great. As i mentioned just underfur that have to be removed and eye more open... Thats all. All the rest is great. I have no doubts it catches loads of fish. What i like the most about your fly is the way you aligned hairs to curve in the same direction. Thats not easy for everyone. Thanks for sending your fly. Cheers Vladimir 😀🍺
I use Davie Mcphail’s trick where he grabs the hair, pushes it forward a few times. Almost creases the hair at the tie in point. That causes the hair to lay down more, and curve towards the body of the fly.
@@DavidJones-vy6cn cant say for sure but, i have a small request if you dont mind.... Put freshly tied fly above steaming water for few seconds only and tell me what happens.. Maybe the hair will flare more... Meaning that by creasing you force hair in unnatural way to behave.... Steam will bring back materials nature.... Its trick i picked up from Wayne Luallen. He has by far the greatest influence on my technique. Several times when i forced materials and i thought i had them tamed he proved me wrong 😀😀
Thanks a lot. For some reason, not sure why, i almost never trim. I adjust angle by positioning wing prior to tying it in firmly with thread. Thats all. And i try not to overdress hackle too... That helps positioning too. 🍺😀

I use velcro but not as you said.... I love your suggestion. Very convenient. 🙏😀 Thanks so much
Stimulator is one of my favorite flies...Probably my 2nd favorite dry next to Adams. HOWEVER...I have never caught a fish on one. lol.
I love it in may\june when we have massive hatches of big stoneflies.... in that period its just super fun to use them.

Great demonstration and explanation. Thank you!
Thanks so much. Appreciate it 😀🍺
Nice flies and very handsome colour combinations. I like flies that are pleasing. :-)
Thank you so much for that. Glad you see it that way 😀🍺

Hello Valdimir. Great to see others tyers flies and hear your critic.
I hope it will be helpful. 🍺😀

Nice. I sometimes trim body hackle on top , to allow wing to lay flatter
Thanks a lot.

Nice pattern! What size #hook do you recommend to tie this pattern? Thanks
Thanks so much... In my case i love this in larger sizes. 12-6... To imitate stoneflies. This one is size 16. So, pretty small
Manu thanks! Best regards from Argentina

Did you say you use cat fur for dubbing?
I did 😀😀
