Let me just point out that if they wanted more "comfort" perhaps they shouldn't have gotten a car to test that came with the M sport suspension...or perhaps consider getting a cadillac instead of a 2 seater sports car. I had a z4 2.5i and I agree it is not a very comfortable car but at the end of the day sports cars aren't meant to be comfortable. If you want a sports car you want firm suspension, two seats, engine up front, long hood, short tail, and RWD..with that said the BMW is the definition.
big engine in the front, driven wheels in the rear, driver positioned all the way back, 50/50 weight distribution, this is the pure roadster for formula.
I have both. TT is brittle and fragile. Z4 is indestructible, rock solid, but less confortable and surefooted than the TT (quattro haldex is great in the rain). Will never sell the Z4, but the TT is on its way out...

Audi and their "world class four wheel drive systems", pah! AWD is excess weight in a car like either one of those. RWD is synonymous to fun. If I had to go off road, of course I would buy "a world class AWD" - probably an Audi. Therefore, IMO, Z4 wins this competition easily. Roadsters and coupes - sports cars in general - are supposed to be a bit rough and edgy - i.e. have some personality.
Porsche boxster and Cayman and BMW z4 are quite similar but pricing is different the Audi TT gives a different taste in the roadsters. I wouldnt want to get any American roadster at all

Bought an E85 z4 with the N52 engine and it's been fantastic. Loads of holidays up in the Highlands (I'm in Scotland) and the just amazing on some of the best driving roads in the world. I've had it for three years now and I'm hankering for a boxster S 987. I had mid engined car before and loved it. It was a 94 sw20 which made it a rev 3 which was the best on to have in the UK. 174bhp and rev'd to 7400 rpm. Mine was red and looked awesome. Like a Ferrari 355. (If you squint) For a while I put a K+N cone filter on it and it sounded AMAZING. It did rob some low end torque and it would always be maringal to pass the MOT because of emissions. My local garage were very understanding and used to stuff the tube with rags to inhibit airflow and let me pass my MOT. Legends. Ultimately I got rid of it and went back to the old airbox. The car was much more tractable without it. Most of the time Torque > HP As an experience I'd always favour torque. Funny story. A bunch of us with semi fast cars were going north and inevitably it turned in to a race/pissing contest. I knew I had higher horsepower then my mate in front of me in his 2002 320I that had an m54 2.2 making 170 bhp My MR2 made 174 bhp. He gapped me immediatly and I never caught up. Torque is not understood by most people but it's the single most important thing to review about an engine. Torque is how quickly your engine can go from 0hp to 240 hp. The area under the graph is how fast your car is. No good getting gradually to 300 bhp. The 2.2 straight six had 210 N⋅m (155 lb⋅ft) I had 140 LB-FT Max and that's gonna mean my 174 bhp counts for very little. A car that can get to 170 bhp quickly will beat you every time. My Z4 has decent torque. 250 N⋅m (184 lb⋅ft) at 2,750 so good torque throughout. The 987 Boxster S 3.4 has 340 Nm or 250 lb.ft @ 4400-6000 rpm That's a good bit more of a racier engine. I now want a Boxster 987 s. I'd like to rediscover the mid engined feel with a chunk more toque this time. MR2 was epic - I expect the Boxster will be even more so. Luv and Peace.

I don't really feel like these are in the same class of vehicle. I'd rather compare the Audi TT with the Nissan 370z, Alpha Romeo 4C and Porsche Cayman/ Boxster, or BMW M4/2. These are a list of cars that were meant to be both daily drivers and sports cars, not necessarily roadsters. Convertibles are just ugly anyways. The Z4 is just a chick car.
The Z4 is a sports car. The TT is a sporty Golf in a different body. One is FWD based, the other is all RWD. The engine in that BMW though... BMW is known for their inline six cylinder engines, and the 3 liter is absolutely legendary.

Got to be the z4. It`s a dream to drive hard. That said it can be a bit hard on the road because of the RFT on normal driving.

That's the new model, and uses a 3 liter turbo engine. BMW adds .5 or .6 to turbo cars, so the 3.0 turned into a 35i, and the 4.4 became a 50i
