Very well said and it needs to be recognized acknowledged and recorded into the history books and be taught in our schools, colleges, and universities…

Truth and Reconciliation required for all that Prof. Madley speaks about.

The only way to reconcile is to return the land which was stolen from them and pay them millions of dollars is that something White Americans are willing to do nope so lets move on and accept what happend not forget it.

this is important, and i think a lot more people would watch it if it werent for its unnecessary 12 minute intro. i only listened because i was on a very long drive, i would have found another video otherwise. maybe include "lecture starts at 12min" in the video description?

“In 1850, California’s first governor, Peter Burnett,
announced the state’s official position of genocide, ‘as the only
solution to the Indian problem.’ The state funded both the bullets for
the voluntary militia, and $10 to $25 for proof of executed Indians -
    scalps, heads, hands, or bodies.”
“California’s first bond of $400,000 was issued in 1854, to fund the
bounty on dead Indians and the costs of extermination. Also in 1850, the
state passed a law, ironically named the Act for the Government and
Protection of Indians, giving the state authority over Indians,
including land settlements and denying even the federal government any
trust role or authority to negotiate treaties” (Pico 2007).

I am part native American I live in California but my ancestors are from the southwest specifically from Ysleta Del Sur Pueblo, El Paso Texas, I feel the government needs to acknowledge what was done to our people admit to the genocide they carried out. It's terrible I can't even begin to express how this feels, knowing the government and its citizens wanted us to be exterminated. All the rape and mass murder they carried out assimilation, culture destruction and destruction of land. The United Snakes of America is what the government is.

Such a stain on American history. I know we as a nation must let go of what has happened in the past and not dwell on mistakes of our ancestors, which we can not change, but we must never forget at the same time, to avoid such devastation from ever happening again. As an American, every time I hear of this genocide, it sickens me to my very core.

Descendant of Nazi Germans says in former concentration camp to a Jewish person, whose ancestors where killed by Nazis: "We shouldn't dwell on these dark pages of our history and move on".

The story only gets darker the further down the rabbithole you wanna go...for instance when they killed these tribes they took the children that were too young to remember and tagged them and then dispersed them to various handlers usually as a reward to a certain psycholical profile . Their agenda is tied deep into the rise of psychology and basically the same institution this guy works for (he says it himself) 43:00 The irony or the audacity? These people have living ancestors but it is highly advantageous to the government to keep them in the dark.

Then, compare the legislation that they had in the spanish empire. They were citizens, like the people in Spain. They were protected, but the bad guy in history is Spain.

@@felixramosfuentes7136 I mean, both of those people also initiated genocides...
Look into what the conditions in the missions were like. The only reason it isn't as bad as what is discussed in this lecture is because their goal wasn't outright extermination.
