It's just a way to show as many waves plugins as possible. The mix is great but obviously could be done with a tenth of the plugins. It's a good way to see a few alternatives to the usual way of using some of them, I will certainly try out a few of Eric 's more unorthodox uses. don't bash the guy, check out his own channel where he does a 2 hr tutorial on a similar mix but explains everything.
Thank you for this video. I recently purchased a Roland 25 V drums and superior drummer 2. This clarifies what I really wanted to do taking the superior mixer and having PT11 as a session. Your routing. inserts /send/buss really made the sampled kit great. Thanks for doing this video.
- I use different plugins on different instrument tracks. I never use any plugin twice. Because I'm a professional. So if you want to be a professional, BUY THEM ALL. That's the only way.
Back in the day, studio guys used the same mics and boards to record everything, and sounded awesome. No presets, no DAWs, no digital. Even with all of the presets that exist in the world, they won't save a bad song.
+gitarild yes, I am. This guy uses way too many different plugins. Like he is a newbie. But he' is not newbie. He just shows bad example of using plugins, trying to help waves sell all those plugins.
I never knew superior drummer 2.0 could be used in this way. Routing everything to where you could use normal plug-ins as opposed to the default ones. I kept thinking it would be pretty cool if you could but I didn't know it was possible until I saw this so thank you
+geekmusic i think the processing is not enough. There should be more EQ to clean each track and phase correction and delay compensation because of the plugin processing.
geekmusic I agree I'm pretty new to recording in the box, but not to recording in general but as always most of the time less is best, got the waves gold bundle for Father's Day but once you start loading up plugins you lose the punch of the original source
Great video Eric, I had no idea about channel strips and saturation, just learning about using analog style eq's as well..put it all together and boom..phatness. Thx $$This comment is for people complaing about buying the tools. There are free plugins that do these task well, I know because I am now using them and they work great when lined up and tweeked properly like Eric is showing you.. such as..channel strips like the NastyVCS, saturation with TesslaPro just to name a few excellent freebies. It does use LOTS of CPU power when chaing these up but then so does anything with heavy processing. For geekmusic below..I would like to see how you get warmth and fatness without eating up CPU...Awesome video Waves and Eric
Plus, very briefly explained the process and the settings. In addition to all the comments saying you used too many unnecessary plugins, I think you should have explained the settings and made it clear why you used these particular parameters.
Not sure why there is so much hate, yeah he's using a lot of plugins but that's how he is doing. I found it useful as a starting point and tweaked/added/removed plugins as I saw fit. Thanks
...why did you emulate the drums going through an analog console? Did you not know that almost all Toontrack drum libraries are tracked using analog consoles including selected preamps and some processing on the way in? Also, the room mics of Superior Drummer have already seen a 1176 on their way in including the all buttons in mode. Why do things by default?! Just because plugin mania tells you so?
Nice mix, this sounds really great on headphones and my HS7s. A tremendous amount of plugins are instantiated, but I can't grasp why you have Kramer Tape on every channel only to use it again on the Drum Buss prior to its routing to the mix buss.
Great...how would it sound in a mix? Drums are easy to make sound great when you don't have guitars, bass, vocals, all the reverbs and delays, etc. that go in a song.
That sounds good. Some people here seem to complain about using so many plugins. Haters gonna hate. Would be really good to have heard it in a mix with other instruments though.
Although its great to see a variety of Waves plugs, most of us don't actually mix this way. It would have been useful to see this process with one Waves compressor, one Waves EQ, one Waves saturation/harmonics plug, one Waves reverb etc (not everyone is lucky enough to be a Mercury user... lol) As previous commentators have stated, Superior is very well recorded and their samples rarely need much work (unless you intend to drastically change their sound). But good to see nonetheless.
Q. What's so special about the Waves Sound-shifter Plugin? A) It's the only Waves Plugin not featured in this video. (I'm just kidding. This is a GREAT way of explaining how to get the best from Waves Plugs)
Hey Eric, nice layout on using Waves to add more color and depth to SD but you skipped right over the transxwide plugin you have on the clean drum buss. How is that being used?
i don't see the point of using soooooooo many external plugins dude, really, you can pretty much get the same effects using just the standard plugins from your DAW. You should watch some videos about that on Graham's channel @ The recording revolution.com, just saying tho :)
I can't get any sounds from Superior Drummer 3 to Protools matching the outputs from the SD3 mixer to Protools Mixer inputs. Are these audio tracks? I don't see how these communicate unless I pull up SD3 as an plugin?
Woooww, dude! U need to chill. Great sound is not about how much you do to your sound sources, but it's about when to leave it alone. This was simply too much.
The dude just boosted highs and made the snare sound like a high hat with all those plugins. Man, you have a huge build up in the 6khz-10khz area. That's not how the drums sound)
After you try yourself to put so much plugins on your mix and you will not be happy with the result, you'll probably want to buy more plugins to give it a try, lol.
I'm sorry this guy has done a couple videos with very good information. but this one...man sorry! but why redo what they already did when they created superior drummer. I mean all that tape sat and analog modulation they already did that for real ! if its done why multiply the effect? At the end sounds unreal.
Hey...didn't you know there are way more people here who know more than you and will tell you what you did wrong in the comments? It's so much easier than, say, making their own video or doing any actual work.
sorry but to me the mix sounds too processed and slighty harsh, the kick drum for example seems to dissapear at a certain point i liked the way it sounded raw a lot better
The post-processing sounds too hissy, bright and thin. This is what happens when you over-bloat the mix with unnecessary plugins. Keep it simple and basic.
nah ill stick with addictive drums.... way better sounding and no need for all this external processing... amazing sounding drums right through addictive drums console/fx

I tried to load all those plugins and my pc shut down and the power transformer outside my house exploded
Dude thats how the riots probably started!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣I was thinking the same!
lolololol
Lol....too many plugs...it dont take all this
Or "I've added a million different things that make me feel like I'm doing something"
- I use different plugins on different instrument tracks. I never use any plugin twice. Because I'm a professional. So if you want to be a professional, BUY THEM ALL. That's the only way.

+Alexandre Rocha I think he's being ironic...
+gitarild yes, I am. This guy uses way too many different plugins. Like he is a newbie. But he' is not newbie. He just shows bad example of using plugins, trying to help waves sell all those plugins.
+gitarild I wasn't attacking him.
I Think you forgot to use a plug in
I never knew superior drummer 2.0 could be used in this way. Routing everything to where you could use normal plug-ins as opposed to the default ones. I kept thinking it would be pretty cool if you could but I didn't know it was possible until I saw this so thank you
the plungins are great but i realy think that this is too much processing going on there .. you can do a lot better with much less ... peace out
+geekmusic I agree but this video is made by a company that sells plugins.
For example?
This was so goood.. haha :)) my nose was kinda bleeding already.

Didn't know Kermit the frog likes plug-ins so much.

yeah i was thinking the same thing. this is just ridiculous....
This is so good!
Nice mix, this sounds really great on headphones and my HS7s. A tremendous amount of plugins are instantiated, but I can't grasp why you have Kramer Tape on every channel only to use it again on the Drum Buss prior to its routing to the mix buss.
Great job.

dude is just listing plugins. there's not really anything to learn from this video
"Let me show you how I can find a way to use 40 plugins for just the drums section"
Its usefull to me. i dont know which plugin does what... and this gives me an idea... (Yes. im noob)
Great tutorial. It would be great to see it on superior drummer 3 :)
Gosh... are you serious? There are much cleverer ways to list all WAVES plug ins ever made. And I am not bashing WAVES here... sorry, man.
Eric, can you do a video on this the same way you did mixing studio drummer with guitar rig? plz :)
thats alotta of plugins! sounds really good. I dont think my comp could handle all of those plugins. uh oh.
Although its great to see a variety of Waves plugs, most of us don't actually mix this way. A) It's the only Waves Plugin not featured in this video.
(I'm just kidding. This is a GREAT way of explaining how to get the best from Waves Plugs)
Using only 4 SSL Duende Channel VSTs, you could of make this sound even better ;)
Hey Eric, nice layout on using Waves to add more color and depth to SD but you skipped right over the transxwide plugin you have on the clean drum buss. How is that being used?
If I do this, my CPU will kill me... :-p
+Kevin Velghe lmao
Davin Diatiakana I'm lucky if I can run 4 waves plugins simultaneously ;-)
mine too........
Lol....
What's your processor? A NASAmade one? If I use all those plugins, my CPU will blow up!! LOL...
+Carlos Parente Lmao..
can you please share the superior drummer drumkit preset used in this video?
like a child in a toy store :D
i don't see the point of using soooooooo many external plugins dude, really, you can pretty much get the same effects using just the standard plugins from your DAW. You should watch some videos about that on Graham's channel @ The recording revolution.com, just saying tho :)

is it me or highs sound little bit too harsh and sandy? maybe youtube compression?
hi, noob question here are the tracks audio tracks or auxilary tracks for the individual drums? thank you
Waves..... any chance you can make one plug in to do all that? cheers!
thanks for the tutorial. But i don't see any phase correction
What was that shortcut to disable all plugins again??????
shift + a on pt if I remember correctly
H-EQ make it sound worse.
Woooww, dude! U need to chill. Great sound is not about how much you do to your sound sources, but it's about when to leave it alone. This was simply too much.
or You could do All that with just Stock Plugins.....
+Nanobeatz _tz and way less too LOL
Nice :)
The dude just boosted highs and made the snare sound like a high hat with all those plugins. Man, you have a huge build up in the 6khz-10khz area. That's not how the drums sound)
Hmm.. can someone tell me what was the shortcut key he used to make all plugins inactive at once, instead of cmd+clicking them one by one?
this guy is going nuts over nothing LOL!!!!!!!
How many plugins can I promote in 7 minutes....
how's CPU usage using every plugin in the box.
Mono or stereo?
Guys, If the computer you bought can't handle all this. You can't afford the plugins.
the next line of this tutorial is "....I did all this and then my computer crashed" How many plugins? Not for us mortals.
+angrybonbon Get a Mac mini.
Anyone knows if it's possible to do the same thing in Ableton?
you forgot gtr lol
+Lance Keen did you read the title......?
+paolocampitelli
how tall are you, cause that joke went way over your head
you have a weird sense of humor...
how is there not a big time CPU overload going on there with all those plug-ins running?
Крутяк !!!
What Kind of CPU are u using?
Sale some templates, for cubase pro?
now maybe you can do that all by using only scheps omni-channel and save cpu resources.
This is exactly how Andy Johns did it on Led Zeppelin 3................just kidding, this is ridiculous.
what's with official Waves tutorials? they're just demonstrations..
132tbs of ram? Wow!
If there was ever any proof that it doesn't matter what the tools are, but instead how you use them, this is it.
FFS you're just cramming every possible plug into this mix. Total BS.
After you try yourself to put so much plugins on your mix and you will not be happy with the result, you'll probably want to buy more plugins to give it a try, lol.
that's a lot of plugins. i only plug in plugins when it's necessary this mad man on the other hand is just flexing
This dude always over does it
I'm sorry this guy has done a couple videos with very good information. but this one...man sorry! but why redo what they already did when they created superior drummer. Overkill
The post-processing sounds too hissy, bright and thin. This is what happens when you over-bloat the mix with unnecessary plugins. Keep it simple and basic.
This guys computer was made by Elon Musk
nah ill stick with addictive drums.... way better sounding and no need for all this external processing... amazing sounding drums right through addictive drums console/fx
I like the sound of addictive drums but my friend hate it. What should I do?
He knows how to compress plugins.... huh?
Overkill. Just a little to much. But it sounds good.
until u came to the bus it sounded pretty great, maybe a little overdone but on the bus you f*** it up a little ...but... still great !!!!
Your DAW doesn't freeze up or exhibit other gay behaviors using so many plugins? Especially with 3 years ago tech? Sorry, just kind of amazed by that.
NO HELP THIS; JUST SELLING THE PLUGINS
This is not an encouraging video for a newbie. Retitle video " Just Adding Waves Plugins "
Horrible sounds very scanned little warm.
raw souns better
God damn bro too many plugins!
Ahahah ! Bullshiter !! 😂😂😂
Waves, Waves & Bla, bla, bla
Ahahah ! Bullshiter !!
Too much going on here.
Worse waves tutorial ever 😰
Ahahah ! Bullshiter !! 😂😂😂
