Might want to make sure you're getting plenty of fresh air down there. Might help to have a CO/CO2 sensor, with a passive failure mode. Those gasses tend to be heavier and gather at the bottom of holes plenty of people become asphyxiated in confined spaces
Consider using a sacrificial zinc/anode sock. This will attract corrosion and help prevent damage to the other metal parts of the bunker. It’s similar to the zinc bars in water heater that help protect water heaters from rusting.
Could you guys imagine having a calab with me Colin over here? That would be actually insane, completely unsure of what y'all could do, but both channels are crazy good inventors and designers. Whelp, it's on my life's bucket list to see these two channels calab.

I know from experience it only takes one rock rolling out of the wall to put you in a position where you can't get yourself out.
@@AllanFolm I've seen some but in this one the time he spent in a tight spot he appeared to be alone. Hopefully there is someone near buy to help if something stupid happens.
Hi @colinfurze, I work at a precast concrete wall manufacturer. We use plastic spacers, with small, small feet. To make sure, that the mesh, is at the right distance, during the pouring. They are called panel chairs in English. Looking forward to the next update.
I just imagine someone in a couple 100 years finding that tunnel and wondering and speculating what it was for LOL They will say everything but the real reason which is because he wanted to and could do it hahah Makes one wonder how many archeological discoveries have been made that left people wondering what it was used for and the builders simply did it because they wanted to and could do it. The i felt like doing it so why not?
As always, great video. Having lived in Germany where everyone has a basement and I've seen lots being built, you're doing this part of the underground complex a bit back to front. I watched a builder build a complete basement for a pair of semi detached houses next door to where I lived in 2 weeks, including the roof / ground floor concrete. After digging the hole, they cover the bottom of it with a membrane and a load of reinforcing steel, with verticals wherever the walls will go, they then pour the floor in one go, covering the reinforcement. Once the slab is hard enough, they start erecting reinforcement for all the walls, including ducting for all services,, which they then cover in shuttering. They also put shuttering for the roof and then cover that with reinforcement and ducting. Finally they pour all the walls and ground floor in one go. In your case you'd be fitting the steel instead of shuttering, but the main thing is to fit the rebar before the steel cladding!
He is a farmer, farmers tend to do a lot of different jobs since you already have the equipment so while waiting for the crops to grow you have something to do and some extra income. @2MuchColinFurze you should get yourself a gas monitor for working down in that bunker, specially while there is a diesel truck sitting outside engine running for a good while. It’ll also be good to have when your cars are stored down there.
Colin if your planing on still putting the Delorean and BMW down there I recommend you make the garage have climate control and don’t forget to have enough room for a very small hangout spot!
This raises so many questions .. how fast can Kevin run an Infraction down those tunnels? How far can Kevin jump an XMaxx in those tunnels? How bash'able is the old bunker?? We need answers, lads! Get to it!
I realize how much time, effort, and money it requires for a project like this. But man I need longer videos of this project. Totally love it, and I can't wait to see it when it's completed. I could watch this stuff all day everyday 😱😁😎😎👍
It would be great if you could create a 3D scan of the secret construction at some point, so folks with VR headsets could experience this amazing project. Even viewing the 3D layout on a PC would be interesting .
You might benefit from placing a metal sheet on the ground when you're mining, so that the rocks fall onto the sheet and not the ground. It makes shoveling them up significantly easier, since you don't need to "dig" into the pile, just quickly slide the shovel along the sheet and slip it under the rubble.
One thing I would look into when you do more of the foundation pours is super plasticizer for the concrete. It allows the concrete to by really runny but without the use of excess water. Since too much water can lower the strength of the concrete and cause more shrinkage. We often use Plasticizer on Bridge work when we are pouring in areas where consolidating the concrete is difficult to do such as drilled shafts.
Why? It costs more. Standard mixes are plenty for whats being done here. Plus, they don't work too well with volumetric delivery systems, like Colin intends to use 20+ yrs experience batching concrete for everything from local swimming pools and shopping centres to bridges, tunnels and harbours. Plus supporting lab work
@@markmcculfor6113slumps irrelevant, the mixes are adjusted for different slump ranges. Slump is determined by the job at hand, not the strength of the mix
I've had a nice Christmas, Colin Furze, and thanks for asking if I had a nice Christmas. I want to tell you this now: whenever I watch your videos, you always make me smile and laugh, so you keep it up, and I hope you carry on enjoying your underground garage
Have you ever thought about getting a trailer concrete pump to pump concrete through a hose to get it back into those far reaches? Those small pumps are usually fairly cheap to rent but you do need to have some labor to move those hoses around and help cleanup a bit. You could pump through those holes in the floor before you weld them shut. Just a thought for a labor intensive project.
Hey Colin loveing the build so far! My only suggestion is to be cautious of possible cold joints that could be created by not haveing a continuous pour possibly consider a joint sealand in conjunction with your rebar. Anyways keep up the great work its comeing together nicely!

for the dehumidifier - if you haven’t already thought of it - build a sump to drain it into and set up a 12v float switch and pump (as you’d see on a boat) to pump out the sump as it fills up
Agreed, that, and increased airflow would be essential to decreasing the humidity levels quickly & efficiently. Aircons &/or dehumidifier’s are great, but can only remove so much moisture per hour, adding extra heat would also help speed up the process, but would add extra considerations as well.
Hey Colin, just wanted to say its really interesting how many cool ideas you come up with and seeing them come to fruition on your channel has made for a really good time. I just wanted to say thanks, thanks for being you. :)
Getting closer to 1 mil subs! Let's help him get the next UA-cam button! The work that's going into this is amazing, when I first started watching, I never thought it would be this big of a project. It's awesome!
Yep. I can see him ditching his current method of building the plate steel structure then backfilling with concrete for the rest of the build. If he'd just used the standard method of excavating, pouring slab, forming up timber concrete shutters, waterproofing, backfilling and pouring a suspended concrete roof, he'd be finished by now.

How does a project of this magnitude with such drastic changes to total square footage of the structures affect property value? 7:15 a bit yes, I was thinking it before you even asked in the video lol. Bit uncomfortable but still a great watch, love these behind the scene updates.
Perseverance is the quality needed when the going gets sticky and we all know Mr. Furze has plenty. Having worked in very small spaces I was just getting to the uncomfortable stage when you mentioned claustrophobia! Great video.
So glad you're referencing Yorkshire Car Restorations, they do a great job and much like you, really get in to the detail of the task at hand! Great vid as always Colin! Didn't envy you wrestling with the rebarosaurus.
I didnt think i was claustrophobic until i saw this. Lol keep up the great work. There was a lady here in the states that was doing much the same thing you are, however, she got shutdown by the local govt.
I'm strangely very claustrophobic watching stuff on TV but not so much so in real life. I usually have to look away when someones crawling down an air duct in a movie and when someones burried alive in a coffin I can feel quite sick but for some reason watching this didn't effect me at all, I think the camera angles kind of opened up the space a bit so I didn't get that feeling of being trapped.
As always , brilliant ! You somehow make the very technical and serious stuff fun and lighthearted, I wonder how many people have started their own tunnel from watching you ? I’d have thought you would have welded some little steps on the back of the metal sheets to save putting the ladders down though
I didn't understand most of what you were doing with the rebar, but I definitely enjoyed Tom Lamb. And I enjoyed watching the concrete pour. I would love to see weekly videos, maybe 2-3 minutes.

Hi Colin, I am new to your channel and now I can't stop watching and even what to build something myself!! (I’m thankful to JerryRigEverything, that he mentioned your channel) Some time ago you were asking us if these videos undermined the main channel. IMHO it might steal some views from the main channel, but I love these additional videos so much!, so I was thinking what can be done. May I suggest this idea: make this second channel as additional “behind the scene” videos. Basically, some time after the video on the main channel and after all the views on it, there will be additional “behind the scene” video for those who want more details, maybe some more engineering details or meet new people like Yasmin or just some bloopers or just more in depth, moreover if you already have additional recordings that were not added into the main video. You are awesome and inspiring! Wish you the best!
I don't think anyone who's interested enough to watch these videos is going to skip watching the main channel videos, almost everyone watching these is watching them because they want *more* than just the main channel videos! :D

Oh thank god Colin!!!!! I was getting worried you had opened a sink hole an you had been swallowed up haha.
So excited to see the progress mate and can't wait to see the "hole" build lol!
Good luck glad to see you back after the Christmas break love your content
Honestly I wish this project was done so there could be a video every few days. I’ve never been more invested
7:15 a bit yes, I was thinking it before you even asked in the video lol. Bit uncomfortable but still a great watch, love these behind the scene updates.
Toms such a genuine bloke. What a nice fella
Amazing video Colin! Can’t wait for the next update
Perseverance is the quality needed when the going gets sticky and we all know Mr. Furze has plenty. Having worked in very small spaces I was just getting to the uncomfortable stage when you mentioned claustrophobia! Great video.
Awesome to be back!
So glad you're referencing Yorkshire Car Restorations, they do a great job and much like you, really get in to the detail of the task at hand!
Great vid as always Colin! Didn't envy you wrestling with the rebarosaurus.
Your motivation is inspiring Colin. I need to be more like you in that regard
14:32 This made me really smile and get excited.
I need to get out more.
I didnt think i was claustrophobic until i saw this. Lol keep up the great work.
There was a lady here in the states that was doing much the same thing you are, however, she got shutdown by the local govt.
yeah i herd
I'm strangely very claustrophobic watching stuff on TV but not so much so in real life. I usually have to look away when someones crawling down an air duct in a movie and when someones burried alive in a coffin I can feel quite sick but for some reason watching this didn't effect me at all, I think the camera angles kind of opened up the space a bit so I didn't get that feeling of being trapped.
Making some serious progress Colin's, have a great week and count your blessings amen.
Toms such genuine bloke. what a nice fela
As always , brilliant ! You somehow make the very technical and serious stuff fun and lighthearted, I wonder how many people have started their own tunnel from watching you ? I’d have thought you would have welded some little steps on the back of the metal sheets to save putting the ladders down though
17:37 gotta love those skin tight skin tone welding gloves
I didn't understand most of what you were doing with the rebar, but I definitely enjoyed Tom Lamb. And I enjoyed watching the concrete pour. I would love to see weekly videos, maybe 2-3 minutes.
Great to shout out YCR, be nice to see it back home when it's all done 👍🏼
Got my pizza box for Christmas like I wanted! Luv it. Dig on Colin!!
This was an interesting Tom Lamb and its so Tom Lamb to see the progress. I Tom Lamb love how you set up Tom Lamb episodes!
So funny to see Tom Lamb being awesome in this epidsode. Hope he got a ton of love!
800k views in 9 hours, and #7 on trending?? This is the update everyone needed, Colin!
Hi Colin, I am new to your channel and now I can't stop watching and even what to build something myself!! (I’m thankful to JerryRigEverything, that he mentioned your channel)
Some time ago you were asking us if these videos undermined the main channel.
Welcome! He's got a lot of incredible stuff over the years
I don't think anyone who's interested enough to watch these videos is going to skip watching the main channel videos, almost everyone watching these is watching them because they want *more* than just the main channel videos! :D
@@longleaf0agreed! Everything on here is just more great stuff to watch!
I have missed you Colin and Tom over the holidays. Welcome back, boys.
Your my reason for living. Keep up the enthusiasm. Luv your work buddy.
Great team, great claustrophobic vibes, thanks for this madness!
Following this project has been one of my favorite things to do the past couple years. Thanks so much for the constant entertainment! ❤❤
Guy: What about half a cube?
Colin: Nah that's too much
Tom: What about two thirds of a cube?
........
........
Colin: That's even more
😂😂
Hi Tom 👋 thank you for helping out this mad man's dream tunnel ❤
Colin you've ticked a lot more boxes this time compared to your first tunnel, looks like a proper build with sound techniques and experience showing through. Love your work mate
Seeing that concrete flowing underneath reminds me of the Ghostbusters 2 river of slime scene. Magic.
Tom is having way too much fun for comfort 😁
