This still helps - although not as good as the original uncompressed version - you have to look more closely at the disassembly, and stop this one more often, but it's still do-able. It helps if you've done it before as well. Bike shops LOVE this because it's a real moneymaker - $35 - 45 for 15 - 20 minutes of work - I'll take it! If you want to try this, it's worth it, if only to know what's going on in your bike. ALSO you can upgrade ANY 8, 9, or 10 speed system from this period to be =Rec. 10
I think it shows that it's a fairly straight forward process. A shop shouldn't charge more than $50 for this procedure. The most common parts that need replacing are the G springs (the little springs he's installing at 1:00)
also, remember that you MUST do this with the 5mm hex of the main axle down on a Park 3 way tool, mounted good, in a solid VISE, leaving the shifter assembly upside down. apply grease with a toothpick to the brass sleeve bearing in the cleaned lever body before starting. Use a light grease, like Phil, Park, or Finish line. The final step is tough, with rotating that spring hub 'bout 180 deg for proper tension, then engaging it
when I assembled a CENTAUR 10 speed lever, i greased all friction surfaces with Finish Line white grease, very smooth. Now about the final engagement of the big rotator spring, it appears that he rotated the engagement hub about 180 deg before locking it in the main axle. Be sure to engage the spring with your shifter ALREADY in its most relaxed position , or lowest gear.
What are you pointing out at 2:10 regarding the washer? My old washer has the indentation and the tab but the washer in the rehab kit doesn’t. Is that a problem?
I'm pretty sure most of the parts available are of Record quality - i.e., G-springs, ratchet teeth, etc. If you look at Branford Bike or Xtreme-Bike-Sport , for instance, they will have most, if not all the parts you'll need. If you replace most of the guts with these parts, I'm pretty sure you'll have almost a Record set of shifters.
What happened to the regular speed? I did this job last year and it was GREAT! - very easy to do, except the one part where they cut away for just a second as they were winding up the spring tension (yikes!) If you need this (as I do) to make you feel better about doing the job, you'll have to stop it every couple of seconds, and I'm not even sure that will do the trick.
Are the parts exactly the same for Campy 8 and 9 speed. except for the obvious different number of steps on the clicker wheel? There is a lot of labor in doing this right. I can see why a bike shop would charge as much to rebuild one as you can get another one for on ebay. What part wears out on these, and are they readily available from Campy for 8, 9 and 10 speed? I heard Shimano is good, but they are lousy with stocking small replacement parts.
According to their reputation, ShimaNo are MUCH MORE difficult to rebuild, if possible at all. Except for earlier Campy 8 speed (which have a different body / pre-1997,) you can upgrade later 8 speed, and all 9 speed, up to 10 speed levers by simply replacing the indexed ratchet.
Helpful in as much it shows how difficult it is if you don't know what your doing.I have 1996 8 speed Shifters(just got off an old bike) and the ratchets don't move or click.Might be parts missing or not been put back together correctly.I'm thinking a spring is not wound up or missing?I took them partially apart but can't tell what the problem is.Bike shop didn't want to touch them but will send them away to Campag! Expensive to have serviced no doubt. I'm screwed at the moment with them.Any suggestions anyone? Could sell for parts and just buy new fully working shifters.Save myself a headache.
I'm actually looking at rebuilding my Veloce 10s after a fall that I just had. Overall shifting has become sloppy so it's difficult for me to know exactly what is wrong. Can I just order the Record parts that I need?

Does anyone know what kind of pliers these are? They look like they'd be very useful here.
Can we get the uncompressed video back? The video is hard to follow
this is true art :)
funny how an e bike basically has you put near to no effort for the bike to move and the person who is making this is overweight
wow
