I personally see them as hilarious, especially since I still play FFXI and Tarutaru are the literal origin of Lalafells. Both races are literally designed to be cute and childish. Literally designed that way. If someone views that as rapey content, that's entirely on them. That's like looking at a parent/guardian/teacher and their kid and immediately thinking "that kids rape content". Like holy shit these fuckers are creepy.
maybe not taken seriously, but most certainly not taken creepy, because its true that many people do accuse people of being creepy when perhaps they just see lala as dwarf

Can also use the stool for a corner timeout and give them that weird pointy mage cone hat. 😂 Surprised they didn't ask for the removal of the 50+ stuffies, toys, and plushies housing items that were already in the game. Update: I just remembered the "squatting" sit position of male Miqo'tes. Make the litterbox happen.

As I said in the clip channel, imagine having no serious issues in life other than being outraged over a virtual piece of furniture. And I say that as someone who played FFXIV as a lalafell for the better part of a decade. This is such a non-issue.
Yup. and this isn't the first time they've done joke furniture at the expense of one of the game's races and it certainly won't be the last. It's all in good fun and people need to take the sticks outta their asses.
isn't the reason why this guy complain about this to begin with is because there is a minor amount of people who accuse lala players as creepy and groomers ?
I don't know man, it took me 5 seconds to write this comment. typing it doesn't mean i'll think about it beyond a minute. Imagine thinkin that every internet comment lives rent free in these peoples heads and wasn't just a passing thought they thought they'd share on a forum, like every other internet comment.
As a Lalafell player, I get upset when people think I'm some kind of pedophile because it says to me that they are thinking of my hellspawn as something that is sexual enough to think about. If you want to rub one out to a half-pint dressed in a Moogle fursuit and a literal clown coat, that's your fucking problem, man. I'm here to make bad jokes and piss people off.
I know a guy who plays a Lala girl and he is 100% obsessed with it. He gushes over how cute and adorable she is, dresses her up like a doll, and the level of detail he goes into when talking about her makes me feel super uncomfortable sometimes. Honestly, the people who think that the race is funny and just joke around with it are fine, but when you can basically hear them drooling when they describe their character over VC...it can seem weird. Players like you exist, but you can't say that players like THAT don't.
@@SageTigerStar Sure, there are creeps everywhere, but you can't say the number of people who see a Lala and instantly say "that person is a pedo" isn't the majority of the problem.
@@moogleboy In your case sounds like pure projection. Worked in a club for a bit though and you run into the rare cases of people playing Lala in order to be creepy about it to often. It wasn't a nightly thing but it happened at least once to twice a week. Never played Lala for more than a few minutes let alone worked in a nightclub as one so can't really say how common those two things are in comparison. We had a Lala bartender and she was super wholesome but people would on rare occasion still creep on her... those fuckers where fortunately blacklisted ASAP.
I know, so weird, right? Why would someone who spends tens of thousands of hours playing the same character come to identify with it? (I'm being sarcastic btw. I doubt your intelligence based on your comment so I thought I'd mention that.)
@@NyklausCopernicus I'm unsure why you feel the need to throw an insult in, but since you want to play this game, and the point of my comment was clearly lost inside the vacuous emptiness that exists between your ears, I'll explain further. You are not your character. You do not live in a fantasy world where you can use magic, fly, shoot laser beams from your hands, and fight world-ending threats as the sole savior of the world on a daily basis. Is it fun to pretend to do that? Absolutely. Can your character have your personality traits, which by the way do not matter in the slightest since everything that happens in the game is scripted and regardless of any choices you make nothing changes? Sure, go for it. But if you can't make the separation between the you in reality and the character you are playing, you need to take a break or seek help. It is a video game. It is there to be fun and provide some level of social interaction if you so choose. It is not there for you to develop a personality around and become part of who you are. To add to that, anyone who has put anything remotely close to 10,000 hours needs to seriously reflect the validity of their feelings if they are feeling upset about a joke item. If you have the kind of free time to devote to a video game, your life is pretty good.
SE didn't just get away with killing a kid, they traumatized the fuck out of the kid in one of the most horrifying ways I can imagine without just getting overwhelmed by a combination of nausea and the PTSD fueled urge to slowly stab a MFer to death. Then they proceeded to transform the kid into a monster and made you kill them with your own hands.
@@Padrino_Tommy IIRC there was some racism in Ishgard with folks saying that Au Ra were related to dragons. But afaik the general consensus is that all of the races that looks like they are related to animals (Viera, Miqote, Kobolds, Hrothgar, Au Ra, Bangaa, etc.) are just that; they look but aren't. In fact, my basis for the "hurrdurr, Au Ra 'dragon-people' racist" thing was that I recall reading something official saying that all these races look like animals but aren't and that it's considered offensive in lore to call, for example, a viera a rabbit-person. But I've not been able to find the text that I saw that in. Even back in Tactics Advance, when Marche first encounters a bangaa he says "a talking lizard" or something to that effect and it's perceived by the bangaa as offensive.
I feel like a lot of that in FF14 is just because of the Ishgardians doing some really horrific shit to the Au Ra, and that's part of why what they do in Endwalker hits so hard on a symbolic level, it's flipping that association being used as an escuse to commit heinous hate crimes against a group on it's head completely. Being compared to a dragon is actually kind of cool and doesn't imply a lack of intelligence like being compared to a bunny or a cat might as long as everyone around you isn't going "this "person" is maliscious and evil and must be driven out and tormented, may these abominations know Halones wrath."
See I legit wanna know why they don't have the tomra furniture craftable/aquireable in the game...like it's there, you can go to tomra and use the furniture Edit: a miqo litter box would be hilarious ngl
Because if they do give lala-sized furniture it wont fit for the other race. This lifter and step stool is to bridge the height gap between lala and non-lala but having other race to sit/sleep on lala-sized furniture will look too awkward
@@naz-- i dont see that as a problem. if it doesnt fit the other races, then people who play those dont have to use them. and people use furniture in other ways than how its presented by default. towels as cushions, blackboards as sofa backs, marble alcove bed as flooring and ceilings, etc
I love the fact there are kids in the game and absolutely all of them are taller than the lalafels so it makes their point of not being child-looking even more stupid
Also, if you start in Ul'dah, one of the early quests is giving cookies to orphan children and the two lalafell children are literally indistinguishable from adult lalas. It's absolutely hilarious to get butthurt over this like these people didn't SEE WHAT LALAFELLS LOOK LIKE IN THE CHARACTER CREATOR and it just never occurred to them.
tbh I think they're child-like since the actually children in ffxiv look normal to me. They look like walking garden gnomes to me lol. But when it comes to the race in of itself, yeah you probably can't tell what a child and adult lalafell looks like. Tbh really cursed race and I'll be telling them to sit at the lalafell corner everytime.

To answer Xeno's question, the english speaking XIV communities are the only ones who treat lalafells like meme children. JP community just sees them as dwarves, they don't have jokes like lalajam or punting or petting lalafell.
Tbh, there was an entire expansion where Lala's were called dwarfs and even looked serious. The only time they became Lalas again was when they take off their bearded helmet. That's why dwarfs had a strict law to never take off their helmet, else they'll be exiled for being an uncultured animals :)
sounds like a blanket statement that doesn't reflect reality, I'm an active player in an english speaking xiv server, and I don't see lalas as children, tho yeah, they are adorable in a "little brother" way, and I want to pet them. Ngl, *all* the lalas I have in my ffxiv are absolutely happy with getting pets for this, just like all the miqotes I know are happy with getting pets for being feline-looking. Sounds like only a vocal minority is getting offended over this.

As a Lalafell player, I like my big furniture, just feels more homey xD 8:16 I have never once encountered anybody who poses an issue with normal rping as a lalafell, even in those fight club venues, DJ Venues, or just normal areas. I never witnessed anyone closing doors on rp for Lalafells. People are pretty open. But I can definitely see people rejecting shutting down rps involving Lalafells on the erp side. That's to be expected, and I don't blame the people who shut them down in that section.
Exactly, worked in a nightclub for a bit and we only kicked out Lala's if they where being really over the top in ways that made everyone else uncomfortable, had another male lala coming in at least once a week in just there undies... sorry dude no one wants to see that shit. The description of the chair in other languages is “a chair with a higher seat for lalafell. Perfect for children of other races” and makes this joke 100x more hilarious
Also why do Lalas need special beds? Who's fighting for beds that comfortably fit two male Roe or Hrothgar? Or did they mean those cute little beds with bars around them so little one doesn't fall out?
Yeah, I don't get that one. If I was a midget, having a large bed all ot myself would be awesome. Beats being tall and having a bed that barely fits me.
I agree that the name could be changed, because "Lalafell Lifter" is too good a name to waste on a chair like this. When I first read that name, I imagined a hydraulic lift chair. The chair was all steel and sits really low to the ground with a bar on the side. The bar would be interactable and would lift the seated character off the floor up into the air with the "pop! hissshhhh..." sound like a truck coming to a stop. You could toggle the bar again to rapidly drop back down to the floor. It would be hilarious to see big races on a lift chair like that. I just think it could have looked way cooler for such a good name.
the first time I saw this chair, my thought was.... imagine yoshi p, a lala player, seeing the design for it and he laught out lou and laying on the ground and then gives his ok. the fact...a lala player put it in the game and this guys go insane about it xD

On the other hand, I don't RP and I couldn't give less of a shit about this chair. I might get it for the desk in my house or something.
Someone posted the chair on Twitter and said "You'd be angry too if they gave Miqo'tes a litterbox or Au Ras a heating lamp!" and I have to say I would LOVE to have a heating lamp for my lizard girl! Pair it with a rock too, so I can bask on it!

However, there's definitely more of a trend of the writers trying to paint the world as treating them as an equal humanoid race. I'm not a lore geek, but IMO there should've been more Nymian stuff before highchairs, or other kid-stereotype stuff. If the hrothgars were saying, "give us more bozja housing items," it'd be like SQEX giving them a big ball of yarn instead, with fluff text it was ancient training equipment.
With the whole RP venue thing I think it’s because when it comes to nightclubs and stuff, 95% of the time people go their got some kind of erp and everyone knows this. So when someone goes there on a lalafell character it’s easy to assume their intentions, even if it’s not exactly the case. It sucks for the people who genuinely just want to sfw role play but I think it makes sense to judge them. With lalas literally all looking like children it makes sense the rp community would want to exclude them
My first ever character was a lala for most of my nearly 3 years - so far - of playing, (free fanta'd after ARR from catboy) I recently switched to melezen to "grow up" my character... literally, I tried to make him look as alike as I could to my lala, just obviously taller and less rotund, being an elezan and all... with near-identical style facial hair kept intact! I can understand the frustration of the furniture item looking like a toddler's "highchair", and I somewhat agree that they didn't have to make it look like that... but I also think it's kinda funny too. If they made a tiny chair for Roegadan to hunch over in, a la Mr. Incredible squeezing into his tiny car on the way to his office job in the first Incredibles movie, I would think it was hilarious. I also wouldn't get mad at my elezen being called a giraffe either, they're my favorite animal: that's what the G stands for, and it's in my character's last name too lol.
3:55 I had the exact same experience in Germany, when they'd hand me carbonated water I'd say "No, just regular water" and the looks I got were weird af lmao.
This is drama? Lol. Like, the chair isn't really my thing aesthetically (back is too low, no arm rests, dye for it sucks), but it's awesome to actually see my Lalafell's face at a table that isn't glitched into the ground.
The fuck is a lalafels? Sorry never played ff14. Kidding I did only 3 hours tough and then lost all my save data and forgot my password. However I am a huge ff fan.
"Pick the race that's designed to look like children and purposely written to be comic relief for their small size." "Get mad because treated like children and become the butt of jokes because small." "Complain." Bro...
Same. My boyfriend and I both play as Lala and we thought it was really funny, so do our non-Lala friends. I think these people who are offended by this virtual chair are those types that live on Twitter to complain all day long lol 😂
I respect my Lalafell companions. I've seen em do crazy stuff. The casters and tanks do outrageous things. And come out on top. While I think they should get more size appropriate furniture, this chair is totally awesome.
Bro are we actually gonna sit here and act like lalafells are not designed to appear as small as children? Like what do you mean you’re OFFENDED?! It’s a freaking video game, jesus
Being offended by this is insane to me and these people have lost touch with reality. Lalafells are dwarves with all the same status as any other race in canon, but they *do* look like little chibi children no matter what the game's story says. There's just no way around it.
2:24 EXACTLY my thoughts. To quote Saitama when he gets hate mail: "Here's a guy with a lot of time on his hands." Imagine having so little to concern yourself with that you genuinely get upset when a joke item isn't meant to be taken seriously. It's called the Lalafell Lifter for crying out loud, I don't think this was Squeenix's genuine attempt at making some potato friendly furniture.
i mean i hope theyre speaking for themselves. I have a sense of humor and I think Lala highchairs are a wonderful addition to the game. Yes I mean highchair like for babies. Not just "lala chairs" If they hate being a lalafell and hate the cutesy lala community they shouldn't be one. The allyship and humor between the players of that race are so close and so wonderful I'm jealous if im not one.
I like to play small races, usually dwarves, because I see them as small badass warriors and blacksmiths. However, sadly the character creator lacks the options to make a lala look like a dwarf. When I say dwarf, I mean like Tolkien or WoW dwarves. Big beard and bulky but short.
It's so odd how against looking like cute dolls Lala's are. Like, isn't that the whole point of the race? They look like kids (even though Lala will argue your ear off if you state the obvious), that's why I personally didn't want to play the race. If you don't want to hear "you look like a kid" maybe don't play the race that looks like a kid.
@@Miriam_J_ I'm the weirdo who chooses race based on personal fantasy and lore. I chose the race because "small and cute", I stay with the race because of maniacal murder.
It's a cute chair and there's nothing wrong with it all. These people are being silly. I'd say most people playing Lala either want to look adorable or want to troll/meme. I'm smol (5 foot) so I picked Lala to poke fun at my own height and because they look like adorable little Chibis. I wished that Calca/Brina's dress was available, would look so nice on my character.
No one is talking about the fact that it doesn't require changes to have normal size furniture or oversized, undersized furniture would mean making new animations for all other races so your legs are not in the floor.

The only people i see get mad at you calling their lala a kid are people who do sussy shit with their character (Balmung) OR they literally just are tired of their dwarf not being viewed as a dwarf (Probably the more common case) With the people who are upset that people think youre a Pbear - If the shoe dont fit what you upset about? Just stop going to balmung on your lala ez fix. Also you dont get banned from venues for being a lala, you get banned for ERPing on a lala.

Square Enix: **gives an important dragon an Au Ra avatar**
Aura actualy lizzards no? As aura player and entusiast and make researches in stepe i read somewhere they lizards.

This video gave me life. Also as a Miqo'te, I would absolutely put a litterbox in my house because that's funny as fuck.
Fun fact - lack of beards in this game is what made me pick Lalafell as a race.
If I'm not gonna be able to be a viking warrior-type character, I'll just go with the comic support option and be a tiny tank.
Me as a lalafell: how DARE you
Also me: *looking for an excuse to start the great lalafell wars!*
The "shortest" war on record
@@jyon2359 *calls Chris Hansen* 👀😝
I don't understand NA's obsession with associating anything remotely child-like or cute as pedophilia.
"I suffer more than you do because this thing I obsess over is bad" GCBTW
Literally played Lala till HW then went Au'ra and then back to Lala when EW came out. I have never been accused, called any names, or what not. The occasional headpat from people for the meme angry lala emote. I have been called conniving, gil hungry, and pure evil. None of which bother me...and untrue lol Oh an a potato, I forgot that. Which is also not untrue.
How the fuck did baldinho have trouble getting water in Germany of all places???
NA brain smh >_>
"WE ARE NOT KIDS!" as they do the same walk as a rugrat cartoon character.
