Hello, Eddie! 👋🏽 First, thank you for watching and for sharing your experience, of which I agree completely- the Jamaican people are so hospitable, kind, generous, and full of joy. My family and I were also there during Hurricane Beryl, and like you, I can’t speak highly enough about how prepared the hotel staff were to ensure the safety of the guests and staff alike. They all deserve bonuses for their hard work that week because there was so much uncertainty but they rose to the occasion - and like you said, without having any assurance that their homes and families would be ok during the storm. I’m beyond grateful to the staff. So we actually spent some time at RIU Negril bc our Palace wristband gives us access and it was super fun! A different vibe, more party but a great time. Being situated on the beach, the hotels sure take a beating in wear and tear so it’s definitely a positive that they are renovating. Either way, the people really make the experience enjoyable so you can’t go wrong. 👌🏽🇯🇲 much peace, joy, and an abundance of travel in your well earned retirement. 🙌🏽🙏🏽
@@illustratedbySade the hurricane was not the worst part of are holiday we were delayed for 7h on flight out on the 23rd off June at Manchester Airport because of a power cut the luggage from previous flights was stacked up all over the terminal we were on of the lucky ones and are luggage came with us we arrived at the hotel just before midnight but on the flight home the dream liner had a problem on start up 2H and 4 engines later we were are way back home but the when serving breakfast they ran out of wood spoons for the yogurt it definitely was an all inclusive holiday you see on tv people have problems with the holidays but you don’t think it’s going to happen to you but its not now put use of traveling the best thing the holiday company has offered us a discount on next holiday
Oh no, sounds awful! Sorry you had to experience that. 😣😩😩 omg, yes, I remember the airport being a mess! Our flights were cancelled and had to spend an extra $1k until we could get rebooked on a flight days later. When we finally departed, lots of the island was still without power. A few of the airport staff that I spoke with expressed how they had no power or running water in their homes. 😔 Definitely a devastating storm from which I’m sure took the country weeks to recover from. I’m just thankful there were very few casualties bc it could’ve been much worse. 🙏🏽
@illustratedbySade we booked a package holiday from the UK so tui after to look after your until you get home a can remember herring at the hotel that people from the USA and Canada were having to pay for longer stays and different flights home
Hello! 👋🏽 Happy to hear that! You’ll have a great time. 🌴 😎 Thank you for the kind feedback and for watching! As to your question, even better - there are hotel servers on the beach who can grab what you need. And yes, there’s what’s called the Jerk Hut that serves some delicious jerk chicken and the best fried fish and red beans and rice that’s right on the beach. Also, grounds crew, if you ask, will climb up and grab you a free coconut for refreshments. 🥥 I’d make sure to keep some local or U.S. cash on hand for tipping as well. Servers working the beach is tough work. 👌🏽 Have an amazing holiday!
This is an amazing video! Very detailed and engaging ❤. And yeah, you’re in negril which is in a different parish from Mo bay 😅 but there’s a Riu in both so it’s confusing, LOL
Hello! Yes, you're totally right haha! I basically used Negril and Montego interchangeably (even though I'm aware they're quite different) given Negril is a lesser known town and the nearest major airport is Montego hehe! I'm happy you enjoyed the video and definitely appreciate the kind words - means a lot. I def want to return and maybe visit the RIU in actual Mo Bay haha! Thanks!!!
@@illustratedbySadehaha no worries! Yeah, I hear great things about the Mo bay one also! I hope to visit the Riu for my honeymoon thanks to your video ❤🙏🏽

Yes, definitely an unfortunate situation 😩😅🤦🏽♀️
This was great - you made our decision for us! By any chance, is there a bar/snack station anywhere on or near the beach?
