I remembered Victoria Park very well. I attended Methodist A primary school from 1957 to 1963. Weasley Girls primary and middle school was at the other side of us and when you cross the road to the other side is Victoria Park. I used to stay at Idan street and walked with my friends from Monday to Friday to school. Those were good old days when people were innocent . There were many foreigners in Ghana at the time. We were brothers and sisters until Busia asked them to leave. I went to school with Arabs, Africans, Indians, Chinese and whites. There was no tribalism,no racism. When I attended university of Texas at El Paso and found how blacks and white separated themselves from each other, I was very sad. I mixed with all of them because of my background. On Saturdays, some of my family members who are fishermen come back from sea, I will take my pan and they will give me live fish and take the fish home and cook pepper soup. Lovely and peaceful place to live. People take their time to do things. No haste.
I am a decent of the Atlantic slave trade. I live in the state of South Carolina. In this state and I am continually offended by the slave plantations/ tourist attractions throughout the state. I don't like the idea of people continually profiting (getting rich) from our pain. I don't know if I could handle seeing that castle. The pictures make me cry. Mercy.
The coastal towns of Cape Coast, Sekondi etc with their hills and valleys, colonial architecture, paved streets, monuments, beaches, chapels, etc are some of the prettiest in Ghana. There should be a deliberate attempt by our authorities to modernize these places by mixing modern architecture with colonial architecture. High rises must be built in these places, roads should be widened, sidewalks provided, old houses painted/renovated, roads re asphalted, toilets provided in houses, jobs provided etc etc
Glad you showed the security fort and how it helps debunk some of the myths surrounding the awful experience of the slave trade. I was going to ask how you could conclude a vlog about Cape Coast without the educational institutions, but you addressed it. Excellent job; thanks.
Ama, aside the second cycle and tertiary institutions, try and show Elmina to Aggrey road, St. Augustine's road, 2nd and 3rd ridge area, mpeasem, Kakum National Park, Hans Cottage Botel, some of the estates/ new sites, etc.
My first time i come across your video on UA-cam and I can wait to subscribe to your channel a woman with full of inspiration, no Ama i will be happy if you talk to my mum there at ola Estate
Cape Coast used to very cost effective not so much now still a nice place all the same I prefer STC less likelihood of being pulled over by the police.
