Could someone explain what is the difference between upstream, proxy and forward ?

"upstream" refers to the DNS servers that CoreDNS sends queries to when it cannot resolve them locally, while proxy and forward are plugins that handle the forwarding of DNS queries to upstream servers. The proxy plugin is deprecated, and the forward plugin is the recommended replacement for it.
