- SharpshootingUK examine your options for night vision shooting systems from cheap and effective £230 "DIY" systems from www.ludicrous-lumens.co.uk, the X-sight 2 from ATN www.opticswarehouse.co.uk and the premium Pulsar N970LRF digisight.
Detailed comparison of the three for various usages inc footage of the ATN's clever ballistics and bluetooth rangefinder. Did this help you out & you'd like to return the favour? / sharpshootinguk
GREAT informative video. I build my own personal DIY scopes that work fantastic for me here in the States. I just added record capability to them using a little more expensive DVR monitor of the same size. Enjoyed watching the whole VID Thanks I totally agree with You on cost, resolution & clarity, up close and at a distance, Night & Day use. I us mine for both ! Sgrunt
Enjoyed your vids, thank you.
I use a WDV add on, which is in my opinion is the best add on as it has an in line screen with the scope; though a bit pricier. I think its important to state all add ons require the scopes to have pararlax adjustment in the 35-45m range, so lowest to 50m only scopes aren't that great and only work at lowest mag settings.
Another issue is with the better day optics is that their coatings conflict with the ir giving a less good NV picture than say a cheaper scope with little ir filter coatings. Its hard to recomend what scope as the manufacturers keep changing the coatings.
I use older MTC MambaLite and a Sidewinder and with loads of IR can utilise all the magnification right up to x16.
In my opinion the Drone Pro x10 remains king for pure sharpness of picture in the Day/NV digi dedicated options out there. The cost is very high.
On any test then the Pulsar Photon should be mentioned. Another dedicated, and I believe they have another new one coming out this year. They had the SightLine coming out, which would have been a direct competition for the XSight, but it never happened.
Anyhow good talk through the basic options.
.
Thanks Muskett. Yes you're quite right - thanks for the input
Range at night for most of us would be under 200M. I had some fun shooting rabbits between 150 and 200 with the x-sight on a 223. Works great. There is a large property I can spot foxes out to 500 or so. I prefer to call them in closer at night
Great Review! you covered everything I wanted to know! Thumbs up
Thank you for that great test, covered everything!
Another great video review and really detailed and helpful cheers Richard
pulsar digital 750A. Drill a 5 mill hole in the Centre of the front lens cap/flap works great in day light! discovered that after 4 yrs of frustrating zeroing, but it sits too high on rifle giving bad elevation crossover!
great job.
What kind of SD card are you using in the scope? You video is insanely clear.
Hi Richard great review, you have a new subscriber ---me
i have a great interest in NV and have owned the Drone Pro but currently run
a NSWolf--PulsarN750---X-sight-3x12 -Photon 6.50 XT--NT300 addon
to name a few.

hey Richard love your videos, for your Xsight IR see if you can find yourself Orbtronic 16650 2500 mah rechargeable batteries they work great
Hello Richard,
I bought recently the PRAD NV007 from ludicrous-lumens. It does work quit good with my Zeiss Victory HT 3-12*56.
But Andy from LL mentioned that the PRAD require an IR scope, it would not work well with Zeiss.
Proposal was a Nikko-Stirling 4-16*50.
Do you know some other high IR transmitting scope type?
Is Nikko good value for money?
Is FFP better for this kind of NV option? My Zeiss is SFP, there is just a sharp image at one specific zoom.
Where can we purchase the DIY RIG complete and ready to fit?
Can you install a Sony lens on l970lrf to improve magnification without losing quality
Excellent review, just one thing, how did you mount the X-sight on the R10
Regards John
With these brilliant little rail-pic converters. They add no height! www.ebay.co.uk/itm/UTG-11mm-3-8-Airgun-22-Rail-To-Picatinny-Weaver-Low-Pro-Snap-in-Adaptors-/331989200216?hash=item4d4c192d58:g:xxwAAOSwt5hYjMnt
Outstandingly detailed review.
Is there a DYI option to fit the IOR Recon ocular?
IIRC they go up to 46mm - check with ludicrous-lumens
Hi
our unit fits up to 48mm
and the price is £230 including UK mainland delivery
www.ludicrous-lumens.co.uk/collections/3d-printed
Will add this to the description. Sorry for the mixup - even better bargain now!
Hi Richard the recon is a smidge over 46mm, the 6-24x50 is smidge over 48mm
The DIY has one inconvenient, when the screen light up anyone can see you , so either you care or not ! With the other two, your eye is on it and you can't be seen.
Just for what it's worth !
Yep that is true. But the near-eye ones chew your eyeballs up much quicker. Six of one and half a dozen of the other probably :)
The X-sight looks just the job for a 17Hornet
Any dingo's mate?
Another great review Richard, I have 2 X-sights, a mk1 3-12x for rats and a mk2 5-20x for foxing, and use Kentli AA's in both, good for around 6 hours, more than enough for an outing! I have also designed a focus wheel for the mk2, helps a lot for fine tuning on the fly! shpws.me/Pg2m
Scope Mounted Nightvision is still forbidden in Germany. Maybe this law will fall sometime.
In Spain too. Not thermal though.
An in depth video thanks. We are spoilt for choices these days with the photon xt, wardy 800 and dro pro as you mentioned to add to the list of good kit. Will you be doing a review on one of the add on nv range finders now on the market? Neil
Thanks Neil - keep up the good work
