love lindsay but i hated this movie so much 😭😭 like you know when youre seeing someone lie in a movie and you just know that they will get exposed later, and youre cringing at the screen because you know the secondhand embarrassment is coming? this was that feeling but as a full movie
My questions for the movie 1. Why did Carla initially care about Lola? The only part of her worth caring was far later in the movie 2. Explain to me why Lola and sam are a decent match aside from being a boy her age 3. What makes Carla a mean girl? If making snarky comments is it then my friendship were all mean girls 4. Why was Lola not an anti-hero? Would have been such a better plot 5. Why does Lola being "exposed" matter? Not like she is gonna face consequences
Exactly. The plot just fell completely flat and there was a huge lack of character development. I think they finished Lola’s character arc pretty well (could have been better) but Carla was a huge missed opportunity. Her villain attempts are minor inconveniences at best. And she just fell in a fountain at the end … like???? Edit: oh and Sam was useless, I stand by that lol
@@sassygrilledcheese i just wonder what did Lola learn in all of this? Like she lied to get everything she wanted. It would be better if Lola had to work for something
I think from my perspective she learned that she didn't need to keep portraying the persona of who "Lola" was supposed to be when she's always been Lola and never needed to lie. I agree though, they could have done more.
as for number 1, it’s just that lola was a pretty new student. she was “competition” for people’s attention. carla wanted to be more popular and more liked, and even if there was nothing particularly special about lola, people are always going to look at something new more than something that’s always been there.
I never really understood this movie as a kid, and even rewatching it, it’s still lowkey confusing. I loved the constant use of “Never Leave You (Uh Ooh, Uh Ooh)” in the movie though, lol 😂
Yea I had to watch this a few times to get comfortable talking about it on camera. As a good I just focused on the costumes tbh. The plot goes back and forth soooo many times. Fun idea, bad execution 😂 I love Lindsay tho!!!
I grew up on Lindsay movies and loved them all. However, this was always the one exception. I literally owned it on DVD but for some reason, this movie confused me SO much that couldn’t get through it. It seems straight forward enough but even as an adult I’m like “wah?” 😂
Pygmalion is the play in this because like most plays within a play (or films within a film), it vaguely mirrors the story. It's also about a character creating a new image for herself based on lies to transform her social status. My issue is with the fact that they modernised it. My guess is that they originally wanted to do the musical version, My Fair Lady (or maybe it was that in the book- I think this film was based on a book) but Disney couldn't be bothered to pay to use it, so they created their own modern musical of it. I remember watching this once with my mum. I was in my teens and old enough to think "Ugh, a Disney teen movie?" but I think I enjoyed it regardless, mainly because of the old movie references. I remember that it reminded me of Tracy Beaker, a kids drama series that was popular when I was going up, because the main character was also a teenage pathological liar and it had animated dream sequences. Great video! I really enjoyed it!
Yea I had a whole tangent about them choosing pygmalion but cut some of that out. I should have worded it correctly - I knew why they chose the show (only because I had to google what the play was about) but if they were going to change it completely anyways and make it a musical to sell CD’s I don’t know why they didn’t just make up a show. Also, Lola agrees with you ;) she mentioned wanting to stick to the classic show during the locker room scene. Thanks for watching!
Your Sleepover video popped on my recommended and I’ve been enjoying your videos ever since yesterday ❤ so funny. These are the type of films I enjoy most
Megan's performance was even better considering how bad she was in Holiday in the Sun (not hating, it was her first role, but it was pretty cringe lol) She made a huge leap in just a couple of years.
Megan Fox is fully underated by the industry. Even transformers, I love her, its so obvious when she gets replaced in dark side of the moon by Rosie HW how good Fox was.
i cannot believe you have only 4k followers, I've been loving your channel and watching every vid! Keep it up! :) I'm a sucker for these types of movies
Only!? 4k is so many people!!!! That's like enough to fill 16 movie theaters! I'm so happy this many people purposely came to watch my silly videos (I know exactly what you meant by saying that though and I appreciate it so much :)) Thanks for watching!
I love love LOVE this movie so much. It’s a lil cringe sometimes yeah, but it’s still amazing in my eyes. Loved it as a kid, love it more as an adult. Lindsey Lohan will ALWAYS be remembered as that iconic 2000s starlet ⭐️
Idk why I loved this movie so much as a kid 😂 like it was SO camp and surreal for no reason at all. And the soundtrack went SOOO hard. Such a bizzare iconic movie. 😩
I LOVE this movie, I just think some of the directing choices and plot decisions were bad 🤗 it could have been so much more well executed and Megan fox’s character probably suffered the most from the lack of good writing.
@@sassygrilledcheese yeah you’re right. I probably haven’t ever watched it with a critical eye (which I won’t be ever doing because I don’t want to mess up my guilty pleasure haha)
this was one of my favorite movies as a kid i aspired to be as dramatic as lola. she was the blueprint for who i wanted to be in high school which probably wasn't the greatest idea😂
I remember reading the book series the movie was based on as a teenager… it was a bit better if memory serves. The tone was a bit more wry and it wasn’t as wish-fulfilling (like the singer doesn’t turn up at the end.) Also the boyfriend had a more active role and didn’t look like a Generic Movie Hot Guy… I think he had long hair and some kind of hippy/grunge thing going on. The plot was basically the same though
I love this movie so much even though it is super confusing lol. I remember watching this as a kid and being super confused on what the plot is and even as an adult the plot is all over the place but the actors were amazing especially Lindsay! Also the music was also pretty good and I still occasionally listen to a few of the sounds from the soundtrack.
I always hated this movie as a kid, especially since it came out around the same time as Mean Girls which was an infinitely better movie. I am more in this age range but never liked this one 🤷♀ I think it had something to do with the fantasy sequences. Not my jam
Mean girls is definitely the better movie but I think I love the art style in this one more than anything. The writing is bad but the aesthetic is fun.
love lindsay but i hated this movie so much 😭😭 like you know when youre seeing someone lie in a movie and you just know that they will get exposed later, and youre cringing at the screen because you know the secondhand embarrassment is coming? this was that feeling but as a full movie
The fact that I definitely remember the play being Jesus Christ Superstar is incredibly confusing.
we live in a simulation
It was always Pygmalion!
That seems vaguely familiar lol
Jesus Christ Superstar was the play they did in Saved! starring Jenna Malone that came out in the same year. Could be where the confusion comes from.
For some reason I replaced it with Waitress so you're not alone

the star power lindsay lohan has never fails to amaze me she was the queen of the 2000s 😩
omg every role of her's was a slam dunk! We need more Lindsay Lohan movies now that she's back in the limelight!!!!

it is SO UNDERRATED.
