Its replayability is seriously hindered by unskippable cutscenes enforced to artificially prolong playtime. Even the remastered doesn't give you the option
I'm glad more and more people start to talk about this series! It needs to come back and I'm glad it's inclusion in Astro Bot is a thing! You've done a fantastic job on this video and I'm glad I hopped on the Onimusha subreddit! Can't wait to play through Onimusha 2 for my channel soon!
I’m not gonna lie, I liked this game a lot back in the day. Like you said it was a resident evil style/clone but the fact that it was melee made it different, same thing with the being set in that time period.
Thanks lol. More to come, though I'm not entirely sure how long it will take for the next one. I'm hoping that I'm able to drop a video every two to three weeks, maybe earlier depending on outside factors!
Yes! I glossed over this afterwards without really thinking. So there is a mod that you can download to get the original OST on PC (the version I played). I personally prefer a lot of the older tracks, but the new ones are good too.
@@RistoTheAristo I saw that, though the mod unfortunately from what I've read doesn't handle the looping or the dynamic transitions well. It's a real bummer to lose that from the soundtrack from the original PS2 release. I understand why but still :( I ended up not picking up the remaster cause of it. I still own a physical copy of the original.
@@lovelydumplingyeah! I really wish we could've had the option to choose between the two soundtracks. I no longer have access to the OG, but for what it's worth: this version is still good in my eyes and the game is still a great time at least!
@@RistoTheAristo They can't give the option to use the old soundtrack for the same reason they added a new soundtrack at all in the first place: the original's composer was a fraud and the music was stolen. I wish they could just credit the real composer and keep the music but it sadly doesn't work that way.

This is true and 100% one of the biggest issues when you want to go back through it again. I think the only things you can skip are the CGIs.

Thank you so much! I loved going back and playing it, it's still amazing!

It's an amazing game honestly. I think I remembered it being longer originally though!
I can tell youre getting better with each video essay
Im trying! You pick up things as you go lol
@@RistoTheAristo you'll be sponsored by skill share in no time
@@Indiedadgamin Yeah either that or wait for every video to start with a 5 minute monologue about Raycon or Nord VPN
@@Indiedadgamin you sound like a natural these days Matholomew, good job

I always think about going back to this game as I only ever played the ps2 version back in 2001. Maybe I will play the remaster soon. Nice video!
It's a great game, hopefully the sequels get remastered one day too!
My goat is back with another banger. 😮🎉😮

Big ups to Big Rustic OuO
Hell yeah lol
Maybe I missed it but I'm surprised there's no mention of the changed soundtrack, especially since this video uses the old OST
