I remember playing a single CTF map for 2 hours straight, because nobody could get even a single flag. That match was so fucking intense it haunted me in my dreams later. Good times.
Yes I have this more often, especially when I was a kid. Also because of this CTF. I just wouldn't know when I should take a break of gaming. The result was a full night of repeating the same 10 seconds of gaming over and over in my sleep. No matter what I tried to think of, my mind would go back to the same loop within seconds. Best solution was to just go downstairs and give the dog some attention or something to reset the brain with new thoughts.
Today, after just one of these matches, you would have 4 threads just about that on Reddit with tons of people complaining that it's too hard, taking too long, there are noobs in their games etc. Sad how much of the iGen is ruining the shooter genre now.
I miss the conversations people would have merely through the taunt/command system. "You suck!" "You like that?" "Yeah, bitch!" "Die bitch!" "I just slaughtered that guy!" And then you had the weird shit like: "Engage according to operational parameters!"

All in 20 seconds :D

I used to get back from school, launch Station Zeto, play a couple of rounds, just to reset my mind a bit. The mutual joy from slaying enemies and listening to this was priceless. The fun fact is I eventually have gone to a point, where I was totally sucking on the other maps, while on Zeto I could be like 10 frags ahead on Godlike level. Good times.
I remember one map I played on back in 2002 - 2003, the server had no friendly fire (I was 13 years old, so tking was sort of amusing to me) and I learned that attacking a teammate with the pistols or any weapon pushed them a little. One guy in a server was on my team I was playing on (team deathmatch) and he was getting a flak cannon next to a lava pit. I started to shoot at him and he stopped moving are stared at me; maybe confused or trying to convince me I am wasting ammo. Little did he know that after 7 shots from the enforcer; he was pushed into the lava pit and died. 10 seconds later in chat: "wtf i am on your team you ass!" I laughed hard.. (Yeah I know, shouldn't have been a douche, but I couldn't help it.)
For me it was fighting Luthienne...the Nth time I finally wasted her with a cluster of rockets and subsequently began owning her over and over going onto win. It was there running around that chamber ceaselessly [blamblamblam] that this music rang true as a testament to overcoming, learning, growing. This tune is where the game finally became one of my loves, a favored game chiseling it's spot into my list of favorites. Hair-raising frisson - mystical puissance even.
What's really interesting is she tries to emulate you if you've really been dominating her. My favorite weapon on Dm-Fractal is the impact hammer. Just charge it up and run into the enemy. After she has lost too many times, she tries to do the same thing to you too
Genuinely pure tune here. Magnificent. This was playing when I truly got a hang of the game beating up on that Luthien bitch in yellow. All those missile grenades around corners finished her off quite well. Of course there's also something very poignant at work in this song. It plucks at heartstrings in a way I can't fully describe. My most beloved in the entire game. "Mechanism 8" - Zero defects!...and zero dislikes.
+Tsujanryo One of the best ScreamTracker 3 tracks from 'necros' of Future Music / Five Musicians. It was so good that EPIC took him on as part of their music composition team for Unreal Tournament and they decided to include MECH8 in the game. He worked on about half of the game's music tracks. The sounds of each gun are forever stuck in my mind. The Flak Cannon and Ripper are two guns that hold a special place in my heart. What a game.
Bonus points for ricochet 4 times with a headshot finish.
No doubt, the ripper was a fun one to use, strange they removed it in some later versions of UT, nothing was as good as the original UT.
