@@TimeTraveler.981 Not totally true. Martin made very complete demos with all the synth parts carefully composed. Alan had to execute the stuff clean and proper way in the studio. It was quite boring for Alan. As late as 1989 the working method changed and Alan could be more creative
I saw that Video in the german TV, it also was the very first time to see something about Depeche Mode, but from that Point I was a big Fan of DM up to NOW. The best Band in the World. But 3 days ago, the day Fletch has passed away, was a very sad day, the Music Universe lost a hero.

But as for turning away from steak, you might not feel it to be possible for yourself, but it's ironic how that album cover has those words written on a soldier's helmet. Again, I couldn't make sense of it. But just last month, several decades later, a friend was visiting, and he shared this story of how he had friends who had returned from combat ...either Afghanistan or Iraq, and he said that they could not eat meat anymore. So fleas, maybe if you too were to have one of your friends turn into hamburger right in front of you, perhaps it would impact your own relationship with 'meat'. As they say... Meet your meat. The reason why carnism is so prevalent in our culture is because we don't have any relationship with what our food used to be. We never met our meat. Imagine, say, after your dog's life has run its course, it became your main course. Would any children be excited about eating those burgers? I know I wouldn't. Even if it died from some other cause. Now imagine if the reason why it died was because you decided you were hungry. This is the standard for our food today. Our tummies grumble. And we kill sentient animals to satiate our hunger. If we had some connection to the lives of these animals, I expect that there would be plenty more people who would be looking to alternatives like the Impossible Burger. It tastes basically the same. But it didn't bleed when you pulled up its roots. Best I can tell, it experienced no pain whatsoever. So there is really nothing 'impossible' about the Impossible Burger. All that was necessary was for us to care enough to find a cruelty-free alternative. I have never bought into the slogan 'Meat is Murder'. It indicates that animal life is as valuable as human life. And I'm not sold on that argument. But I am sold on the concept that sentient life is worth respecting. I arrived at that conclusion back in the late 90s. Well over a decade after my roommate showed me that record album that I did not understand.
