Fun fact: If you play this in your car and crank it up, Avi's voice is deep enough to shake the frame, just like a regular bass line. I discovered this accidentally last week.
It is quite appropriate to refer to the re-birth when singing about the birth. I actually first fell in love with this song (not Pentatonix's version, but the song itself) when the contemporary band at my church sang it on Palm Sunday, about 18 years ago.
I had not ever thought of the link between this particular song, typically sung at Christmas time, and the Easter event that we celebrate. I find it interesting that the setting of the cave covers both the birth of Jesus in the stable as well as the resurrection resulting in an empty tomb, both of which probably occurred in actual cave-like structures. Thanks for making me dig deeper...

Such a powerful song, so perfectly performed. Easy to see how much it impacted you and that's a very good thing.
The arrangements are generally by producer Ben Bram and the entire group, with each member giving their input of what they can do with their individual voices. Kevin is the best beatboxer in the world, but when he gets a chance to take the lead...even if it's brief...it's ALWAYS a highlight. While there are some PTX songs that I like better than others, I have yet to be disappointed by anything that they've done.
Longtime PTX fan here. Here's a song I just found last night. I've sung the original version in church for years. It has kind of a BOOM boom BOOM boom beat to it. This version is more up to date, ua-cam.com/video/M7670CXvPX0/v-deo.html I love the repeating line, first in the piano then the strings, that keeps the piece moving. And the singer's voice is so rich with emotion! Hoping you will do a reaction video!

That beautiful cave was actually used in the original Batman tv series! Bronson Cave in Griffith Park. I just noticed for the first time on your reaction that they actually change the lighting partway through with a bright "angelic" light coming from the side, coinciding with an increased intensity, then at the end it was dimmed when the vocals had the final soft version of the chorus. Subtle nuances like that are what makes PTX stand out from everyone else.
And after that point, there are several times where Kirstie is framed against the cave opening in a way that replicates the traditional depiction of the Madonna with a halo/aura. Very appropriate for this song!
Really surprises me that the have not won a Grammy for this song.

Fun Fact, this song was originally sung by Mark Lowry 1984 written by a fellow Gospel singer song writer Buddy Greene. Also, this setting was in the Batman Tv series back in the 60's.
