I'm a retired U.S Army veteran and lifetime Buccaneers fan. My time stationed in Erlangen West Germany back in the late 80s was the best time of my life.

@@raphael3892 That's awesome. I looked at the window of my room on Google maps. I saw some weird things happen on 3 occasions right outside my barracks. Things I wouldn't believe if I hadn't seen them with my own eyes. But that's another story. I absolutely loved Erlangen. It was a great city. Best beer I ever had was the Erlanger Pislner. My favorite club was in Nuremberg by "The Wall". It was called "The Green Goose". I had just re-enlisted for 6 years of service in Germany "Guaranteed" but Desert Storm happened and I never went back. Best time of my life was spent in your town. Cheer!

The organizers chose Country Roads and Sweet Caroline on purpose. These are easily the two most popular songs at the Oktoberfest. Literally EVERYONE in Munich and Bavaria knows the words :D
But most of the fans in the stadium did not come from Munich or around. And it’s always about HOW you sing, not what… 🤘🏼🏈💜
Auf der Sommerfreizeit in der ich in den Sommerferien immer war, wurde auch immer Country Roads gesungen

@@football-king_de Hi, nice video, thank you. I feel iI have to amend greislige`s comment a bit. Oktoberfest is not the only one. There`s lots of thousends of great festivals, bigger or smaller festive occasions all over Germany over the year. I live in a small town of 12000 people and we have 4 of them/year. Plus, we probably have Millions of country and trucker fans all over Germany.
So maybe the only ones where these two songs are not been played would be the Wacken Metal Festival and Heidelberger Frühling lol.... ok maybe the Christmas markets either.
And you`re right, HOW they sing. Because they`re fans and enjoy the event, how else can they convey their joy to the guests.

The point is americans are so shocked about the athmosphere of this game. But for us europeans its just... well... average. No matter the sport.

@@kayh.4114 In the coming season 2023 there will be two games in Germany .This was announced by the NFL. One in Frankfurt and one again in Munich. The teams have already been determined, these are the Kansas City Chiefs and the New England Patriots.

That’s not correct I would say. Usually the crowd at soccer games is more aggressive and hostile, they cannot even put two fan groups in the same stands. That’s a difference when it comes to Football Fans, because #FootballisFamily 🏈 @McAero08

It goes back to very old times with tribes, villages or nations that have been at war or been associated for hundreds of years.
Our clubs represent our city, our area that gave us and our ancestors prosperity or hardship.
Its what they lived for and it is what some of them died for.
My uncle was buried to my clubs anthem, it is about the mining people that made my area prosper.
But you are right: This passion sometimes comes with feelings deeper than hate.
Football ⚽️ is more than a sport to us.

In Germany we know the Hermes House Band-Country Roads cover more than the original from john Denver. They covered the song like 20 years ago as a party song..thats why every german knows the lyrics😁👌🍻

Well Oktoberfest origins in Germany. Country roads is a song everyone knew since ages I would say due to beer tents on Oktoberfest in Munich and all over Germany. Thus it is a bit curious how Americans are so surprised everyone know the lyrics. Both country roads and sweet caroline are pretty common party hits on Volksfeste in Germany. But on the other hand Americans unfortunately don't know that much going on outside of the US 🤷🏽 (no offence, just what I've been told by a couple of American friends moved to Germany).
And German fan culture due to football (soccer) games is worldwide known for its stunning vibes inside the stadiums I guess.
There's no reason to feel offended because you're absolutely right and it's kind of you to point it out. Literally every American expat and tourist I've met in Germany told me they were shocked to see the life quality that Germany has.

First of all: Country Roads is a song, everybody in Germany can perform. Its almost mandatory.

The American army brought the songs over to Germany (Bavaria was the American sector after WW II) so everyone knows them. Why exactly these songs remained that popular remains a mystery though ...😃.

Me, I'm originally from the Jersey Shore who arrived in Bavaria back in 93' thru the US Army and still here due to me helping raising 3 kids with my German wife. So very true that the US Army bought these songs over and many more. Rock, Country, Jazz/Blues and Hip Hop and we were experienced by German/Austrian and other European classical music before our modern day music. Prost und schöne Grüße aus Bayern. Fly Eagles Fly!
Listen to the chants from Borussia Dortmund, the entrance chant/song before the game begins. You'll never walk alone! I still remember watching Live Aid 85' Queen with my older brother. The European or South American crowds singing/chants before, during or after the game blows us away! A great atmosphere experience that I've seen many times over the years at soccer games, American Football games in Frankfurt or small village games, rock concerts or at Volksfests across this great country.

Not sure what ultra scene is. Fans do have their own traditions and chants. The chiefs fans do tomahawk chop with their arms (some say it’s racist), Steelers fan spin a yellow towel over their heads (called terrible towel), redskins fans (commanders) will sing their hail to the redskins song, and eagles fans will start violence because they are criminals

Im an american soldier stationed in germany, i believe all the US army garrisons are in barvaria, where munich is.
We were told about this game months ago. When i looked up ticket prices, they started at 600 euros (600$). In my small base, there was a competition to win one ticket.
Yeah, demand for this game was just crazy…

FYI - Not all US army garrisons are based in Bavaria.
There are US army garrisons all over west and south Germany. The biggest US military base, for example, is located in Ramstein / Kaiserslautern which is in Rhineland-Palatinate and about a 4 1/2 hour drive from Munich.
But nevertheless I hope you enjoy your stay here in Germany 🇩🇪🤝🇺🇸

@@lucabeckr ah yes the state west of barvaria too. As far as i know all soldiers from US fly into Ramstein air base including me. And i heard thats the mega size base. It was the largest US base overseas until 5 years ago before Camp Humphreys (30,000 personnel) in korea build up. So i knew about all the bases west of barvaria thanks for teaching me thats not barvaria but a different state. Rhineland
I also met old american veteran thats been in germany so long, he was part of Berlin Brigade. So there were american bases all the way in berlin in the 1990s.

Fußball kann doch keiner mehr sehen, v.a. in Deutschland. 17 Mannschaften, die nur noch als Punktelieferant existieren, damit die 18. jedes Jahr wieder Meister wird und eine zweite Liga, es wiederum nur gibt, um zwei neue Punktelieferanten in die erste Liga zu schicken. In Frankreich und Spanien ist es fast dasselbe.
