Its because the Philippines was Colonize by Spain for Almost 300 years ...just like other Hispanic Country in South America... That's why we adopt some words in Spanish.....
YESSSS!!! My aunt and uncles spoke spanish in their younger years! Sad that they didnt pass it on to our generation 😭 we only learned some words but not the actual grammar! Thank you Raquelita!
we get speaking japanese and speaking filipino in one day aaaa this trio will and always be iconic no one can tell me otherwise (my fav dish is menudo and giniling :D)
I swear I understand 40% of Filipino , especially Tagalog bc I’m Spanish it is true Spain was such a big influence on the language , like numbers cuatro, dos, como estás y puta ahah
Yes, it does. Before the colonizers came to Indonesia, Malaysia, and Philippines, there was clearly a lot of movement between our islands and intermingling between our peoples. That would explain why we look similar and our languages are similar.
No plss!!! Not the “puking kulay rosas” byeeee 😭✋🏻 HAHAHA btw i just finished watching Stan's vlog 💕 then after hearing that there's a part fckng 2 on kenzo channel (😌click) IDK but i really love the vibes of this trio. 🥰
The clip at 4:10 I felt that in my soul! I only speak English but I swear to GOD that I understood every single word because every gay Filipino has heard that ish at least once in their life!
it’s honestly so crazy because, so as a mexican i speak spanish and i’m sure everyone has noticed how similar spanish and tagalog are. i understand a lot what you were saying even without looking at the captions!
It’s so interesting right!!!! My uncle’s wife is mexican and she said the same thing so even if we talk in tagalog sometimes she kinda has an idea what were talking about haahaha
Sorry but Filipino sounds way more similar to Bahasa Indonesia. The Spanish words are not native to our language and are just borrowed. Tired of Mexicans saying they have things in common with Filipino. We are Southeast Asian with a completely different culture and many, many languages/dialects depending on the region. I hope one day Filipinos will get rid of the Spanish words in our language, maybe even some of the borrowed English words as well.
Ayy visayan pala si stan. Pati tagalog niya visayan accent. Ang cool!!! Dont worry gurls, even people here have a hard time speaking pure tagalog. But kenzo’s tito and tita jokes are on point Ay grabe sa free ad si chuckie sau kenzo 😜
I'm Filipino but I can't understand Bisaya. Hahaha!! Though I'm aware that my officemates from Leyte and Misamis Oriental Provinces are chatting each other in "Cebuano" dialect and they only understand each other.
I'm Indonesian and i was surprised that i understand some of the words like ako, lumpia, mahal, masok, and others (excuse my writings). We do have similar words and i just realized it ksksksks
Before the colonizers came, people between Malaysia, Indonesia, and Philippines traveled amongst the islands and had a lot of contact with each other, etc. That is why Filipino sounds so similar to Bahasa Indonesia. I get annoyed when people say Filipino sound similar to Spanish because Filipino sounds so CLOSE to Bahasa Indonesia, if anything. 😊
well it's kinda like Koreans. Koreans have both Sino-Korean and native Korean counting systems. they use these systems in specific ways For the Filipinos, they have Spanish and native Filipino counting systems. Spanish system is commonly used to quantify time, money, GWA, basic whole numbers, etc. An example from the video is when Stan said "alas dos" (two o' clock). Meanwhile, native Filipino system is used to reading higher whole numbers, number of items, etc. I have noticed the prevalence of these systems in Kenzo's vlog. For example: Stan mixed up the counting system in Filipino language. He said "isang daang dies pesos" ('isang daan' is 100 in Filipino, and 'dies' is 10 in Spanish). He might have been used to his knowledge of Spanish a lot, but Kenzo corrected Stan's reading with "isang daang sampung peso" ('sampu' is 10 in Filipino).
Also to add, you could notice that casual Tagalog sounds like Spanish a lot because of Spanish loanwords. In the Philippines, they consider Spanish loanwords as "casual words"; but if you listen to a pure Tagalog, it will sound more "formal" and nothing alike Spanish. So yuh, it is because of casualness that many Filipinos try to preserve!' (Note: these languages have different grammars, etc. Filipino just took up many loanwords from Spanish during the 333 years of colonization)
Formal Tagalog sound NOTHING like Spanish. The Spanish words are borrowed words. Our languages are more closely related to Bahasa Melayu an Bahasa Indonesia. Tired of having to explain this to people.
The Spanish words are just borrowed words. We have many regional/dialects/languages that resemble Bahasa Indonesia/Bahasa Melayu. Beyond a few words here and there .....the language is WAY different from Spanish...
