My Dad's side of the family is from Butte, Montana. My grandfather tells of having Evel over to play in his basement as young children. He also rode passenger on the back of Knievel's motorcycle and got dumped in the middle of Main St. As a teenager.

Every single one of us was Evel Kenievel with our bikes back then. The girls, and our parents thought that we were insane. And we were. Today, I wonder how the hell I'm still alive. I can honestly say that it was a combination of stupidity, sheer terror, this indomitable will to stay alive, and absolute luck, that me and many others from back then are still alive. Haha! In the apartment complex that I used to live, back in the early 70's, it was hilly, and the buildings and parking lots were built on these terraces, with these long, concrete, star cases going between the buildings up and down the terraces. The parking lots also had terraces with these big, concrete curb sections that were at a pretty scary slope. I can tell you this. Us kids with our bikes in that complex were absolute experts on riding our bikes down those stairs, jumping off curbs, and going up and down those crazy sloped giant concrete things like it was NOTHING. We were doing parkour on our bikes before anyone knew what X-Treme was. As a kid in the early 70's, I think that my bike was airborne more than it was on the ground. I have no idea how I'm still alive today.

There have been many motorcycle jumpers since Evel but there is one big difference in Evel and the others......Evel jumped heavy motorcycles like Harleys and Triumphs which were never really intended to be jumped any distance. Through his career he broke many bones and just kept coming back for more.

I live on an acre of land in the desert in the 90s and had a bunch of sweet jumps everywhere that we built out of dirt mounds. My dad would encourage us and fix our bike every time we crashed. I remember one time we had a dolly that my brother put a wooden board on it and wanted to jump over it so we pushed him down on our hill our house was on and he hit the jump but the board fell off and he hit the dolly's frame and did a complete front flip on his bike and then crashed on the ground didn't break a single bone and got up a walked away from it. It was the most awesome thing to see. Mom saw this too and we never did that again. But we still rode around the desert looking for things to jump over. Great childhood memories.

I saw Evel jump in the 70's at a small race track in the Kansas City Metro area. He was successful. Then in 1986 I saw Robbie Knievel jump in Kansas City at Arrowhead stadium during a monster truck race / competition. Evel was also there in a stretch limo in support of his son.

Yes. Today, Chuckles are sold by Ferrara Candy Company, the same people who make and sell Boston Baked Beans, Bob’s Candy Canes, Atomic Fireballs and other nostalgic treats. I know that my dad LOVES them when he was a kid back in the late 60's early 70's.

The semi truck was the one that was on "Shipping Wars" Season 3 Episode 10. The semi was in rough shape in the show so to be able to see it restored and what it looked like when it was in used is really cool. Another ironic thing about that semi, the owner of the truck when it was featured in "Shipping Wars' was Jeff Lowe of "Tiger King" fame. I follow the shipper, Marc Springer, who delivered the truck on Twitter. I'm going to send him the link to this video so he can see what the truck looks like now. He was awestruck in the episode that he got to haul Evel's rig. So I'm sure he will love to see it now and maybe can get out to see it during one of his travels

In my youth Evel Knievel was some sort of mystery figure, and I was surprised to find out that he really existed and truely did those awesome stunts. A little bit confused when I saw some first footage, since he looked a bit like Elvis as well as Steve McQueen, two other heroes of mine. All three of them being truely unique American representatives.
Thanks for the nice tour through Evel's museum!

I remember trying to jump stuff like Evel Knievel back in the 1970s. My favorite story about Evel is the one he would tell about jumping Caesar's Fountain in Las Vegas: Before the jump was even gonna happen, he called all the radio stations in Las Vegas and asked what they knew about "Evol Kanevol" jumping Caesar's Fountain. Then he called all the newspapers and asked them what they knew about "Evil Neevil" jumping the fountain. Then he called all the TV stations and asked what they knew about "Evel Knievel" jumping the fountain. The next day, he called Caesar's Palace, and got to the head of the casino and introduced himself. The casino head purportedly said, "I don't care if your name is Evol Kanevol, Evil Neevil, or Evel Knievel, my phone's been ringing off the hook all day with people asking me about you jumping my fountain. Let's put a deal together."

Here in the UK I remember going to see someone doing a motorbike jump at an airfield. He crashed unfortunately and it took a long time to leave the place.
