Dakar classic is the best thing that happened to this race since they left Africa. Brings back the true spirit of competition, unlike the ultra-commercialised and industrialised ultimate category, which just feels artificial nowdays. Not to mention that very rarely can you see an actual race platform, where veteran cars are pushed to the limits, with absolute disragard towards preseving them. Because these cars are not rare collectibles, just regular old legends. Love it!
@@fidan2fast I still like the prototype concept or Peugeot 405, Citroen ZX, Pajero. Also Hummer. I think Ford looked ok. Dacia too much of a buggy. Is it time to repeat 1997? The thing is that in these days real 4wd cars are not popular, but stock SUVs can't take the Dakar. Although competition of Jeep Wrangler, Ford Bronco, Toyota Landcruiser, Landrover Defender, Ineos Grenadier and some pickupe truckls could be possible.
@@kg0173 Maybe they should have a production 4x4 class with exactly those type of vehicles. There are plenty of them on the market which could compete. Mercedes G-Wagen, Nissan Patrol, Ford Everest or Ranger, Isuzu MU-X or D-Max, Toyota Hilux, Mitsubishi Triton, Mahindra Thar or Scorpio-N. Then you have Chinese brands, Tank 300 or 500, Great Wall Motors Cannon or Cannon Alpha, JAC T9, Maxus/LDV D90, etc.
@@pedroferrr1412 but the first one in the clip is a standart one just one engine. Missing the vents for ventilators in the boot. I guess with 4wd it would have made it up without help.
This is so much more entertaining to watch than modern Dakar. The new machines are absolutely incredible, but the classics provoke much more of an emotional response in me.
This is the true Dakar rally. Seeing the 959, the Pajero, the Range Rover it's a dream come true. Too bad the Dakar Rally isn't about the Rally anymore, but about commercial use. At least we have the 1978-2005 videos and Dakar Classic to remember the good days of this rally
The spirit of Dakar cares not about the country where the race happens, but about the will of the people to face adversities with a heart that soars above all difficulties... and dunes :d
The nostalgia factors are so high.... Hot damn this looks like a lot of fun!!! Would definitely be a bucket list thing to attempt this... In any way possible, even as crew!
In the 90s, I’d set the vcr to record Dakar coverage at stupid dark thirty AM, then watch, rapt, after dinner. Now, I’ll click the yt video of a day’s highlights, kinda swipe through it-then wander away bored. I’m interested in watching vehicles related to what I can drive-not a plastic shell over a machine that bears no resemblance to what the public owns. Perhaps people who own SxS enjoy today’s races through SA, but it’s too far divorced from me wandering mountain fire roads in my beat-up old WRX for me to care. More of these Classics, please!
Excellent. And no innane, corny narration. By far the best category. Respect to all Classic competitors, especially those in the diminutive Citroen 2CVs. 💪💪
You have to love this event, through all the difficulties the comradeship shines...It takes a special breed to thrive and survive in the Dakar and next year come back for more.
"The Dakar Spirit" is so much more evident in these classic clips than among the race leaders who throw a temper tantrum because they lost two minutes to a puncture.
Mightly impressed by the cars & thier teams, the hours of preparation that must have gone into them, well done to Saudi for saving this iconic event...

The Dakar spirit got lost wen the petrol companies took it out of África Congratulations to all of you keeping Dakar spirit "all of us will go until finish line"!!!!
Salvador Servia in 1994 in Trident colors, but other than that I don't remember entering them in Dakar much. I remeber 1996 rally of Tunisia there were couple - white and red.

I 1000% agree with you.
Not to mention there are rarely any cars that look like cars in the ultimate class, everything is just buggies now and it annoys me a bit

"You gotta be a little crazy to do the Dakar"
Citroen 2CV drivers: "Hold my drink"
Very week (power), but 4WD.
When it comes to 2CV, it's the matter of French dignity

These cars are so iconic and easy to root for. This video should be over an hour

And Monaco-Dakar Africa Eco Race which has also classic cars class.
WOW that scene with the four Audis launching from the starting line @07:02 minutes in the video was epic to watch. Great video overall!
just the sound 😍
Love the classics.

Bring in classic motorcycles!
Sand Riders "sort of" covers this. Search Harry's Garage sand riders

This is totally awesome in every way possible! No words for how much I love this! - Also: that guy in the very end - what a legend!
I love the spirit and commitment of the classic drivers. 💪🏻 So iconic!
This is so close to the original dakar vibe. I love it
nearly 100 cars in this class, this should have gotten way more coverage and details! the people are more interested in this than the ultimate class!
Dakar Classic is the kind of racing people actually want to see
Love the little French 2CV at the beginning ❤
Great improvement on the coverage of the Classic. Thanks!
this quickly became the only category I truly look forward to eachDakar
Absolutely Bloody Brilliant!!!
You could dissolve away all other categories, and I'd watch hours and hours of these cats every day! Bravo!
Absolutamente maravilloso Dakar CLASSICS. ❤
"The Dakar Spirit" is so much more evident in these classic clips than among the race leaders who throw a temper tantrum because they lost two minutes to a puncture.
Love the classics!!
The sandsurfer at the end was the most funny.
Il video più bello su UA-cam, grazie #751❤
The variety of cars is so epic. Hard to imagine they raced 959 in Dakar back in the days.
Mightly impressed by the cars & thier teams, the hours of preparation that must have gone into them, well done to Saudi for saving this iconic event...
Legends, the 2CV is just the winner 🏆😂😂
The true romantics of the Dakar.
What an adventure!

Love those audi quattro's
Real endurance, one works so hard just to finish, congratulations to you all. All the best health for 2025.
Spettacolo!
i veri eroi della Dakar
legend says.. these guys are still racing
Gracias
I like that almost every car and truck are extremely modifiyed and that the 2CV is contmept mostly being stock. The french hit perfection in the 50s.
Amazing!
the moment on 7.02 when they relise the four audi quatro in the desert omg that was awesome
Didn't know there was an "amateur" class, but know that I know I NEED to apply!!!
Much better cars than the newer ones.
That’s he best class! Real Spirit!
Odd that the guys that did not place, who raised a lot of dust in Quattro's, got a lot of time, not the top 5. The 2cv clips were great.
4:48 Thats a slick mini truck
The Dakar spirit got lost wen the petrol companies took it out of África
Congratulations to all of you keeping Dakar spirit
"all of us will go until finish line"!!!!
I wonder in times of 2CV what would they use instead of mud tracks
CONGRATULATIONS ONE AND ALL !!
Amazing cars, I've only missed the Lancias.

This is awesome
Lets hope,to see a Citroen 11 Traction or a 1927 car ❤❤❤❤
KAMAZ
With classic cars, drivers and their vehicles has more connections.
Che spettacolo ragazzi
Who built those Audi S1 replicas? I’d like to try and follow them on social media.
No Lada Nivas this year?
Grandissimi #751 al minuto 6:45 . Finishers!
Is that a factory 959? Or a road car made into rallying ?
Dakar, where Audi Quattros, Mitsubishi Pajero Ralliarts and Porsche 911s go to.... Live their best life!!
Love it.
Don't forget the few old Land Rovers spilling their oil back from where it was coming from..
Starts singing along to the tetris theme almost eats it (i am very sure with the way they reacted)
dakar classic with landcruiser ggs
I was driving a Renault 4. I would like to see the cattle run.
I would like to take part in this, I already have a car that I would build for it
I’d be the 2CV driver, but no way would I be the co-driver
precioso
💪
Does anyone know the title of the song played at 4:16m?
That requires some balls to drive a 959 offroad. 4:36
👍👍👍👍👍💥
👍
Dovrebbero ammettere anche le moto "classiche"...
La fin 🤣
Where's my favourite Dakar commentator ?
If Syria stabilises, it should be possible to drive from Paris to Turkey, then Syria, then Saudi. That would be something.
Befok.... 🇿🇦
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘👏👏👏👏👍👍
🇸🇦🏜️🐪🚘🚛🚙
Leave the musick out.
The random music ,mixed with random shots and slow motion junked another video. 👎👎👎👎💩💩
BEFUEL MENZIONATA
I saw a freakin' Vehicross! I barely see those on the road, let alone a desert rally course! Cool!
