Since 2004 I've wised-up, voted G.O.P. -- and have supported President Trump and become SUPER-MAGA since 2016. ... I agree with Ruthie!! Carter wrote a book about Israel being an Apartheid state… that tells you everything you need to know where his heart and mind were. The peace with Egypt is as cold as an iceberg- the people of Egypt hate Israel and Jews for the most part and there are no plans from the government or initiatives to warm the relations on a social level. Right now, Egypt is amassing a huge amount of armament, many people in Israel are quite weary about that. It was a mistake to give back the Sinai for what is more of the truce than peace. Carter always played the nice guy, but in reality as far as Israel is concerned, he’s a wolf and sheep’s clothing.

There is nothing Jimmy Carter could have done to save the Shah. What happened in Iran in 1979 was a mass uprising which swept the Shah out of power. If the US had intervened in any way, it would have brought back the ghost of 1953 when the US and Britain orchestrated the overthrow of Mohammed Mossadegh, the elected Prime Minister of Iran.

Both Ruthie and her brother have been wonderful and much-needed voices of vitriol surrounding President Carter. So many people who died violently in the last year and a half died because of Jimmy Carter’s catastrophic decisions. He deserves no credit for the Camp David Accords. Frankly, Begin deserves little credit for it as well. Golda, Nixon (Kissinger), and Sadat made the conditions necessary for Camp David. Carter’s only contribution was to threaten to screw the whole thing up which made Sadat go further than he wanted to, which ultimately led to Sadat’s assassination. Carter was the worst president you can possibly imagine. I only wish he had lived long enough to see the regime he created in Iran fall and to see HIH Crown Prince Reza crowned on the Peacock Throne.

I once believed that Carter was a good man. I now believe he was extremely dangerous and that his humility was a false humility. He now seems to me more like a narcissist who wanted to be seen as the greatest man in the world, one larger than life, and more moral than anyone.
Curious note: when he retired, he preached part-time at the church he attended, and insisted that tourists be invited online and with signs, and admitted to his preaching service, despite the fact that it was a tiny church and that admitting was obviously a burden. I attended out of curiosity, and it was odd seeing the tiny church filled with Secret Service and the "churchgoers" being frisked. I heard that eventually he was kicked out of that church for being pro-abortion.

Interesting if true; Southern Baptists have been staunchly pro-life as long as I can remember (former S Baptist here). The only issue is why it took them so long - one can't really be a "progressive" and be a true Christian. Only by ignoring the Bible can one be a progressive Dem. Guess the Southern Baptist Convention fell prey to the cult of celebrity, having a US President who identified as one of them.
Jimmy's now finding out how deceived he really was - he won't be able to pass off his secular humanism as true faith to his Creator.

Actually though Nixon allowed himself to be burdened with Kissinger in all other national and global policies, Nixon rejected Kissinger’s “demand” to “let the Jews bleed.” And agreed to Golda’s request for help Because of Nixon’s love for GOD’s people which he inherited from his mother and church.

Mr. Regev is still the same compromiser I observed many years ago in MIT club. Back then, he was giving some presentation on behalf of Israeli government. Obviously, there were many more Israel bashers among the listeners. One of them started yelling at Mark when he used the only correct word "Arabs" in relation to the PA population. Regev immediately confirmed and started using the KGB-introduced "Palestinians". After the presentation, I approached him, and he agreed with me that he was not supposed to give in ....
He seems to follow the very same approach, choosing the least objectionable (from the audience majority's viewpoint) points, in this show as well. I have a hard time to believe Mark doesn't know that Carter called Khomeini a "Holy Man" and warned the Iranian military against supporting Shah. But he chooses here to minimize Carter's destructive role in facilitating the Ayatollahs' dictatorship overpowering Iran.
Speaking of Carter's horrible role in history. I can testify under oath that to the best of my knowledge, Carter's ill-advised "peacenik" policies brought us all to the brink of WWIII. As a Soviet first lieutenant of missile troops, I remember restraining classes for Soviet army reserve officers. Jubilant teaching colonels just returned from a meeting in the General Staff (Soviet analog to the American Joint Chief of Staff). "Comrade officers, you are so lucky. In a matter of months, you have a good chance to get a Hero Golden Star, with little to no risk. If this moron Carter gets reelected, we immediately strike in Europe and you will cross to La Manch in 24-48 hours, in charge of your missile platoons and batteries. Carter will never have guts to order the counterstrike". At our next retraining classes, I think it was in 1982, the very same senior officers were gnashing their teeth: "Damn Reagan, we seem to lose the Cold War "

Even before I start listening in full, I'm with Ruthie if she's going to take on the wicked carter. Jimmie Carter was responsible for all that's wrong with Iran today. As soon as Reagan was elected, Iran decided to release the hostages. Carter didn't need to "have time" to negotiate. He just needed not to be a communist.

Mark is in left field about praising Carter and giving him a place in Israeli history. Ruth's assessment of Carter is brilliant and cogent. Carter should be viewed similar to the passenger Jet that carried Sadat to Jerusalem. Peace could never have been achieved without Sadat flying to Jerusalem, but Carter's intent was to grandiose himself and he was ignorant of the reality. Carter was a bumbling idiot.

To be fair to Carter, perhaps it is wise to read his 2006 book & understand Carter's Christian views that were naive on the complicity of the tensions historically. His life after the presidency showed him to be a compassionate caring person.
