I fucking love this song with my heart I wasn’t born in the 80s or 90s ima 2000s baby my mom would constantly play these awesome 80s and 90s jams I love them it reminds me of going to my cousins house and grandmas house just having a good time eating barbecue carne asade cruising on Mission Blvd in Riverside California those are really the best times in life when you listen to a certain song and it just brings back those happy memories you had as a kid I love my Mom ❤️ thank you for showing me this amazing music
Ms. Russo, I want you to Know that even though you never got the proper recognition, love and respect that your voice deserves it is literally the most beautiful voice ever in freestyle music. It was sweet and innocent yet wise and beyond your younger years. I wish that you could join one of these freestyle tours it would be amazing to hear you sing this song. Many props go out to your producer because he sequenced the beats and drum machine to perfection. The baseline comes in at the right time to make the song bump! But the control you have with your voice is just angelic!! You hold a note long enough to change up your tone and align with the rhythm perfectly. You allow the listener to feel what you are going through. And most of all the lyrics are so good they hurt because every man reading this message can relate to how we messed up a good thing by playing the field in the 80’s and early 90’s. So much love and respect to you, so know that you are amongst greatness in the freestyle space just based on this amazing song alone. I salute you, job extremely well done! 🙏🏼
@Marshallhennington, I agree and well said. The only thing is I didn’t play the field even if I could get other beautiful women and prided myself on seeing a women through before I moved in to the next one. I used to have girl wanting to go out with me when I had a gf but they didn’t know it, but didn’t take advantage of the situation. I could’ve said to myself, hey the girls didn’t ask me if I had a gf or not and assumed I was single, but I never did. Not saying I didn’t grow up like other men that wanted to be a lady’s man, but I understood that I didn’t like being hurt by others and wasn’t going to be selfish and cause that in others. Also, girls need to ask guys they like if they are single or not, but since most girls don’t do the asking, they feel awkward asking that, bc they don’t want to come off being desperate or get rejected. So they usually make subtle hints.
Freestyle was great and still is! Power 106 was such a staple . I remember listening to this college on the radio with Jeff Garcia getting hit with a flashback when I was roller skating as a kid . The Wonder Years in the 1980’s moment
Shep Aussie He was from the San Francisco area and he DJ’d at all the top night clubs during the 80’s in the Bay Area. He also did a nightly mixshow on 106.1 KMEL radio
Bro I went to Berkeley in the early 80’s and experienced this song when it first came out and I rennet DJ Cameron Paul and Davis Dave: Great memories and fun times!
Dj Cameron Paul did so much for the SF Bay Area’s Dj community and dance music. I followed him from the beginning at Stidio West. where he started djing before djing for City Nights club and KMEl. A true master and legend of djing. RIP Mr. Cameron Paul and thanks for inspiring so many of us.
Oh and I remember Davy D and he was kind of low key and used to come to Star Records all the time. I think in 90-91, he was working for KMEL. I still can picture him and he always wore like 5 panel cap and a black baseball jacket with leather sleeves. I think it was a KMEL jacket with the big logo on the back.
Ah...the 80s in Los Angeles....hearing this at Qienceneras and wedding receptions.....Adam Sandler was the wedding singer at Caucasian events but Mexicans in LA played Freestyle music at theirs
Hey...straight from the wheels of steel. Definately....listened careully said ooooh yyyaaaa this is the hit clear with levels dialed in to the needle point. Thanks for putting this down X10^
@@djspeedyk thanks for your kind words writing that song was a group effort with Pam and my late brother Guy Vaughn. I was walking to our pre production studio when I came up with the hook, sung it to both Pam and Guy and the rest is history
1988 is the basically the first year that marked the end of latin freestyle. I think it has something to do with their instruments as samplers and synths went from analog filters to crystal clear digital. You can literally hear the cheese factor come into even the best labels right about here. From this label, to the Latin Rascals to Arthur baker -- ending with Cutting Records -- they all went downhill fast starting in 1988 and never looked back. To me, the 80's ended in 1988, not 1990.

I love my Freestyle music. I still have this on a 12” single but to be honest, compared to other hits of the time, this is bland Freestyle.
