+Draffut2003 he's probably a yugioh player that thinks standard is same and universal for other card games, I myself know yugioh, but i'm not a fan of it. He just trying to blabber random words to make himself look smart. He don't know that Standard is far from stale and it has rotations and what cards and sets are played in it. I saw him commenting other videos also and he just blabbers.
I will admit, I was not happy knowing the finals was an Abzan Control mirror. But boy was it one hell of game. Very well odne on both players' ends, and congrats to Seth. Well deserved.
Seth is such an unassuming guy. He never looks confident, makes his moves slowly and with uncertainty, yet he is always soooooo good. It was great to see that, in game 5, both guys got tons of action from a deck that was built on the concept of every card having such an enormous impact.
+ZakanaHachihaCBC Yeah, especially when Ugin got out you can feel the tides of war going back and forth...I just remember last year with Chapin vs Shahar Chapin had literally no answer to Hornet Queens, whereas I guess the good thing about control against control is that Seth and Owen had to anticipate what cards their opponent has and how to respond.
This match was amazing to watch live at PAX. Everyone was on the edge of their seats in the last game, whispering to each other about lines of play and topdecks. The seats emptied out after the game ended, but during that last game, it was packed.
I was never impressed by Seth Manfield but after this he has all my respect. Congrats to him, no one deserved the title more that him ¡World Class Player!
Im a huge fan of Seth after this match. Just pure honest emotion and sportsmanship from this guy. And great attitude in the post match interview. He wasnt even mad and was happy he made it to the finals even if he got mana screwed. How many of us can honestly feel that way after a much that has so much on the line? Congrats Seth!
+Tommaso Juhasz Basic Bitches because they have basic land types, need basic lands to work and they will be a bitch to make work the way you want them too... aka Basic Bitches.
If only that Ugin went of.. that would have been a legendary and exciting moment, and probably make top 5 best MTG World Finals matches of all time. Ohh well.. a great match to the end, congratulations 👍
Im new to the game. Can somebody explain me why Owne also removes his elspeth from the field even though he didnt use it to block? Isn't it still alive? At 57:15
you may want to read up on planeswalkers. the short of it is that they arent like creatures. they are closer to another player in the game. that 5 loyalty is essentially her lifepoints. so when seth attacked, he attacked some at owen and some at elspeth and when owen blocked he only blocked the creatures headed at him, not elspeth(bc he couldn't block protector due to its ability)
+BananaBread absolutely. i mean im only about 2 years in to the game so i definitely understand. the only reason that i said you may want to read up on them is because your comment said "even though he didn't use it to block" and planeswalkers don't have the ability to block. so it was just a statement that you may not fully understand what a planeswalker is capable of doing and what it isn't.
I am a noob...please help... First where is this happening, how can I enter.. What's the requirements... Thank... Ps I love competitive duels.. Ex poker player... Hopefully a good mtg one.
did the legendary rule get changed because i noticed that they both had a nissa out and i thought having more then one of the same legendary card on the battlefield was not aloud?
the first words Abzan and Esper are names of color combinations, the names themselves come from groups in the lore of the game that revolve around those colors. I can't remember what Esper colors are but Abzan is green black and white. Aggro stands for aggressive and means the deck likes to attack and hit and kill things. Control uses "pressure" caused by having better cards then your opponent and not letting things happen and if they do happen, it is usually not to there full effect or value.
Ian Duke refers to the Reid Duke vs Shahar Shenhar match as being last year. It was in 2013. Last year's final was between Shehar Shenhar and Patrick "The Innovator" Chapin. Still-excellent coverage.I agree Jackie looked a bit uncomfortable but I suppose in addition to the fact that she is new to it, it's also partly down to the fact that at the end of the day it's still pretty much a male dominated game (Michelle Detora not withstanding).
+goldennas Actually, the way he shuffles is fine... it's the way he regroups the cards with his titties and fupa that bother the hell out of everyone haha
Zach You know, that's totally what I meant actually! I just phrased it poorly. Lol. I just wonder what possible reason he has to pull his deck into himself like that to regroup...it's so disturbing. Lol.
goldennas I guess that's just the way he got used to doing it. Maybe before he put on like 80 lbs it didn't look so awkward but he's got the double chin going on while he looks down at the table and the regrouping portion of his shuffle just looks awkward as hell.
I play magic casually and yugioh competitively....and I'm kind of confused as to how this is the deck that won worlds. I get there are different formats but I have a friend who literally just bought a bunch of black cards at walmart and made a deck out of them and it's easily able to beat whatever this is...how is this top?
+Judojugs gaming If you think of it objectively saying "it's easily able to beat whatever this is" makes no sense. This is the world championship deck and if it could be beat by a typical draft deck then at least SOMEONE would've brought that deck to the tournament. Alas they didn't because there is probably something in that black deck that would easily be manipulated by Seth's deck and get (no pun intended due to his Rhino's) Trampled on...
+Judojugs gaming A lot of people do that shuffling thing it's keeps you from becoming stagnate keeps you moving. The deck thing I don't know how to prove it to you but these decks specialize in making all of your badass creatures worthless. Especially with 4 thoughtseizes. That's $70 right there but well worth it for $50,000
OK. At least we got through the first 10 seconds and the intro this year without British guy making it Awkward AF! Like last year with his "Pulsating Climax" remark. So we are in plus territory already. God that was weird last year. P
Isn't it a rule that when 2 legendary creatures or planes walkers are on the battlefield and have the same name they both die?? What's up with double nissa??
That applies only if it's on your side of the board. There can be two nissas if they are on opposite sides of the board same goes for any other legendary.
Why the fuck does the camera cut away to the players FACES at the time when the BOARD STATE is most complex? Yes, we get it, the players are tense. That's worth seeing for 5 seconds, but anything after that its just a waste. We came here to watch magic. Show the board.
Very sad that the people behind the game don't give as much attention to ealier editions because, guess what, they want to profit and keep selling boosters, vintage/classic is the best, way less complicated, less power stacking/creeping. They tried to make classic cards obsolete but they didn't manage to make classic Magic obsolete at all, I have much more fun playing earlier versions of the game.
Some of the best, if not the best, magic I have ever had the pleasure to watch. The tension was palpable.
If only standard wasnt so stale. Rhino needs to go.
+Sammy Elliot agreed seige rhino is pretty oppressive if it had 2 colorless it would have been a better made card
+Kerry Teague (Amneoss) i find standard stale and i've been playing since the mid 90's
+Kerry Teague (Amneoss) You funny guy. Just because there have been worse tournament environments before doesn't mean everything else gets a pass.
+Draffut2003 he's probably a yugioh player that thinks standard is same and universal for other card games, I myself know yugioh, but i'm not a fan of it. Someone cries tears of joy at the end!
+enginekid88 *SPOILERS*
It was me
Seth is such an unassuming guy. He never looks confident, makes his moves slowly and with uncertainty, yet he is always soooooo good.
It was great to see that, in game 5, both guys got tons of action from a deck that was built on the concept of every card having such an enormous impact.
Seth looks like a squirrel packing nuts into his belly with he shuffles
I was so glad that this wasn't like last year, when it was a 3-0 sweep with one-sided draws. This was very entertaining to watch. :D
Well G2 and 3 made it feel like that was what was going to happen. Glad it didn't, a game 5 always makes the finals feel that much more intense.

Well its hard to be the *literal* world champion without also being at least world class lmfao.
SPOILER:
The winner is the Abzan Control deck
thanks a lot bro
I bet Abzan control wins
Marc lol
The faces and gestures that Jackie Lee does at 1:36:15 are hilarious and awkward. xD
+joshuaph85 yeah she had a brain fart the match was too hardcore
This is the best game i've ever seen!!.....Amazing!!!
The best magic i´ve seen in years
That is awesome Owen Turtenwald had the 95' mirage tourny promo lands in there
That last game was pretty insane. Really fun to watch as well.
"It does take two to tango"
TANGO LAND CONFIRMED
+Tommaso Juhasz Basic Bitches because they have basic land types, need basic lands to work and they will be a bitch to make work the way you want them too... aka Basic Bitches.
If only that Ugin went of.. that would have been a legendary and exciting moment, and probably make top 5 best MTG World Finals matches of all time.
Ohh well.. a great match to the end, congratulations 👍
at 49:36, how come Seth didn't take 1 point of damage for cracking the Windswept Heath?
+Zach Cause he's pro. And he had courser
WE WANT MODERN!!!
+Black7apex23 what's the different between modern and standard? I didn't notice any. Is there an unlimited version of the game?
@@MrTripcore it has different cards.
Akio Thanks
No, no we don’t.
Im new to the game. Can somebody explain me why Owne also removes his elspeth from the field even though he didnt use it to block? Isn't it still alive? At 57:15

Michael Dowdy i know how they work, just hard to see sometimes as new player what happens:P
+BananaBread there were seth's 5/5 den protector attacking elspeth
Michael Dowdy aaaah you are correct on that. :) forgot that
History doesn't care about who finishes second, but women do.
What happened to Shahar Shenhar?
He was the number 22 or 23 in 2015. Great position too. 2 first places in 2 years in a row and a 22-23 in the third year.
Is there an unlimited version of the game?
Did they count siege rhino effect damage wrong? in the first game seth goes from 17 to 20 and owen goes from 16 to 12?
His emotion was awesome! Congrats!! Well earned
I am a noob...please help... First where is this happening, how can I enter.. What's the requirements... Thank... Ps I love competitive duels.. Ex poker player... Hopefully a good mtg one.
I hear Abzan is a decent color combo for a standard deck. =P
When they shuffle the cards, they are bending it..... is this normal?
No way! He summoned exodia?????
Hi guys just asking , is Ivan Floch's 2015 azorius control deck U/W still strong in this meta? Sorry if something is wrong cuz I am new to mtg !
+HHH1997 the strongest cards in the deck rotated out when KTK came in. Sphinx's Revelation, Supreme Verdict, Detention Sphere, etc. Are all out
Sorin Solemn Visitor: We Love You!
1:20 Turtenwald burps while being introduced lol
Those are some cool hedron props in the background.
did the legendary rule get changed because i noticed that they both had a nissa out and i thought having more then one of the same legendary card on the battlefield was not aloud?
That rule doesn't count opponents legendary.
noob question: what is abzan control deck? aggro? esper mill?
the first words Abzan and Esper are names of color combinations, the names themselves come from groups in the lore of the game that revolve around those colors.
Wow. Just wow. Great finals!
Newbie question: where do they put the LAND cards on the board? I don't see them.
Not all lands are basics like islands, swamps, plains, etc. Turn one when Seth manfield played temple of silence to scry that was a land.
I mean where do they put the basic lands on the table? I don't see them.
+Hoang Anh Nguyen they put them behind creatures on the battlefield.
Hoang Anh Nguyen open your eyes
are they playing with real cards or some seird soft proxies?
Real cards, why wouldn't they xD xD
idk they just look really soft :P the way they bend them got me wandering
+MazdA8896 no, that's just the nature of Magic-Cards
ye, i play myself i just either never noticed it or im very carefull with my cards ;P
TBH the way they shuffle here is very damaging to the cards themselves. Though I don't think they care much, they can afford it.
Ian Duke refers to the Reid Duke vs Shahar Shenhar match as being last year. It was in 2013. Last year's final was between Shehar Shenhar and Patrick "The Innovator" Chapin. that yeaaa at the ceremony announcement sounded very frank lepore
Awesome final very entertaining till the end
how did Manfield gain 8 life in 1:26:32?
Sorin +1
Am I the only person who absolutely hates the way Seth shuffles?
Why do they call these Control Decks? They're Mid-Range Decks.
This was as close to control as you got that could truly truly compete at the time
Do they ever get lunch breaks?
No they have to starve obviously
What the fuck am I watching? Why did I sit the whole way through?
Seth Manfield was so stressed out he's going to grow a shock of white hair and gain super powers.
omg how much he bends those cards
Actually Turtenwald was able to win only games where Seth was mana screwed. 3 Matches between them inb the tournament, 3 - 0 . Big UP
+Andrea Consigli that's true, but he also got mana flooded in 2 games
The laughter in the background is a little off-putting. I hope the players could't hear that.
Some reason I thought Seth's voice to be different than I pictured lol
The reason why Manfield won is because he drew better. And hes awesome.
Am I alone in hating having live audience audio? Especially since they were ruining the tension by laughing at everything
+Logdude1126 Wow you must be LOADS of fun to be around :l
"Face unnatural disasters with the newest magic online set" LOL
congratulations Seth
No Eldrazi?
This was standard
+rocharox This was also well before the Eldrazi Winter.
A huge performance from two great players
LOL at 1:18:48 when you realize there are 4 siege rhinos on screen u'll shit bricks
Seth’s earring is so boss
See how seth rub his deck on his stomach. Hahah
Wow just a great game at worlds
I have no fucking clue what is going on
ok the emotions in the end convinced me he did deserve it xD
2 years in a row of Abzan mirrors in the finals...
Worlds 2015 Finals was Abzan vs Sidisi Whip.
I have a midterm exam in 13 hours why the hell am I doing this to myself
The cringe of bridging the cards is real
Thank god, I was getting burned out on red mirrors.
Hopefully someday abzan will go away, good game though, tense as hell.
I play magic casually and yugioh competitively....and I'm kind of confused as to how this is the deck that won worlds. ***** I just don't get it. I've seen other magic decks that do SO much more than this one. Also this guy's shuffling really bothers me
+Judojugs gaming A lot of people do that shuffling thing it's keeps you from becoming stagnate keeps you moving. The deck thing I don't know how to prove it to you but these decks specialize in making all of your badass creatures worthless. Especially with 4 thoughtseizes. That's $70 right there but well worth it for $50,000
this deck can only use cards from the past 2 years. your friend's deck probably has way more access to cards
Double Abzan in the finals. Who would have guessed? -_-
should owen have board wiped with ugin? or i guess killing the den protector and shutting off seths graveyard was more worth it in the end
Is it just me or at the end is Seth crying
congrats to seth manfield
OK. At least we got through the first 10 seconds and the intro this year without British guy making it Awkward AF! Like last year with his "Pulsating Climax" remark. So we are in plus territory already. God that was weird last year. P

first thing u see after he wins is his boxers.....
wow Rhino. much Siege.
As a new player, im scared
Cthulhu why?
elmalo roberto
Tbh, I don't remember commenting this.
Why do they shuffle their cards so damn much it's annoying
gotta do something while you're up there
God, everything is Abzan these days........
+leo lo im new to magic. What is Abzan?
+BananaBread Abzan's the White-Green-Black color-combo clan that was introduced in Khans of Tarkir last year.
soulblacknight Thanks for the info! :D
The best answer to a siege rhino is a siege rhino :D
abzan so fun.... im tired of abzan dominating everytime
in less than two years time these decks are laughable compared to the man cards and mechanics we have now.
Entendi foi nada.
i feel like owen only won his two games because seth was mana short.. wouldve probably ended 3-0
@O K cuz thoughtseize discards lands.. right
Why the fuck does the camera cut away to the players FACES at the time when the BOARD STATE is most complex? Yes, we get it, the players are tense. That's worth seeing for 5 seconds, but anything after that its just a waste. We came here to watch magic. Show the board.
+evoluti0n09 Don't watch old pro tours man... the camera was 90% on their ugly faces... it's just unbelievable
+soulblacknight Yeah that would just make me even more mad lol.
If i put ugin on the field i pretty damn sure the field go empty imediately
+Moicanorj Pierre Same, though it is trickier when your opponent has at least one siege rhino in hand for afterwards
Owen would have died if he did that because the morph survives and gets to attack Owen into Siege Rhino range.
Luis-Scott Vegetables!!
double siege rhino for the win, interusting idea
jesus rich hagon
pls stop
USA
Abzan control vs Abzan control = bleh
Very sad that the people behind the game don't give as much attention to ealier editions because, guess what, they want to profit and keep selling boosters, vintage/classic is the best, way less complicated, less power stacking/creeping.

Thank god seige rhino is gone
I have no clue what the fuck is going on lol
i hate how much they have to finger fk their cards.
Sucks
hooray for Siege Manfield!
51:28 Hehehehehehe he hehehehehehe he
this is a joke right?
