Since I purchased my Taurus G3 in July of last year, I have a greater appreciation of their striker fired guns. They have really stepped up their game to emerge as one of the best bang for the buck values on the market. I think Canik is the best in the 9mm category, but Taurus has really closed the gap in my opinion, and this rimfire beauty is proof of that.
I love my TX-22! Excellent little plinker. I wish they'd make a version of the compact in 380 or even 32. Engineering might be tough on it, but they nailed the ergonomics on these. I'd love to carry it.
.380 would be cool, and .32 is secretly the perfect granny gun caliber. Don’t even need to get esoteric about sourcing the best JHPs like you do with .380 - in .32, hot FMJ ammo is the way to go.
I knew it wouldn’t be a disappointment. I’ve run a whole lot of ammo through my standard TX 22, mostly suppressed and haven’t had a single hiccup. Looks like I’ll have to pick one of these up too. They sure make a fun day at the range. Good stuff as always 👍🇺🇸
Taurus has always had good tools. I've owned many since 1995 and never had any problems with them. Their revolvers have a tuff double action trigger but they will smooth out after shooting them. I want a TX 22 but have not decided yet. Probably the target but it's a tough decision. I might just get all 3 lol. Great video as always thanks!
I got mine 2 days ago and shot it yesterday. It jammed once stove pipe in some 120 rounds mixed with aguila super extra that you seem to like, some minimax, stinger, and velociter. I enjoyed it. Great review.
My personal opinion re: the Aguila Super Extra (specifically, the 40 gr. RN) is that it is a BETTER equivalent of RECENT PRODUCTION Winchester Super-X 40 gr. RN. I have some 30 year-old Winchester that still works GREAT, and I long considered it a premium general-use round... copper-plated, nice groups, consistent report, etc. But I started noticing that my more recent Winchester (purchased from 2013 to date) was TRASHY; some sound twice as loud as others, and I mean like EVERY OTHER ONE, crappy groups, etc. But recently-purchased Aguila fires, functions, and GROUPS just like the OLDER Winchester! I actually crossed Win. Super-X off my want list (probably can't go wrong with CCI Mini-Mags, though), and seriously considered calling them and asking WTF is going on, but figured I'd probably just get someone who didn't know and didn't care... even wondered if they might be controlled by one of these "woke" equity funds and are PURPOSEFULLY cranking out crappy rounds : )
I’m definitely looking forward to the 22 borescope video! Because we all know how it’s going to go. I own several 22 pistols and never gave it a thought to look for leading until I seen your videos. So I pulled all mine out and checked them and your not gonna believe this but I couldn’t find any lead . I also don’t own a p322 tho so that might have something to do with it. I’m going to need to get my hands on one of these compact tx22s tho, looks like a handy little pistol!
I set up my Competition model with a Holosun 407-C and have been thinking of getting a regular TX-22 just to have one for target practice with only iron sights. Now I think I’m gonna get this compact one for that instead. These sights are better in my opinion, and the ability to add the Holosun K red dot if I want is just another plus! Thanks for the info bud.
Nice! I like the optic cut on those and slide cuts! Maybe they will offer up a tx22 version of that slide soon! And yes to the mag filler piece, I can see that coming soon to a 3D printer near you! lol! Have a good one 👍💥💥
It's a 22lr and basically the same size as a Glock 26 (9mm), 27(.40S&W), or 33(.357Sig). They could have as least reduce the thickness from ~1.25" to ~1.0".
I was surprised when I got my tx22 after seeing your video. Still to this day I joke that despite being the cheapest lightest gun it has the best ergonomics out of everything I have bought so far if not a very close second

What a pleasant surprise... somehow I did not hear that they were making a compact version until today. I love my full size version and will likely own one of these within the week.
Nice pistol! Amazing how Taurus has gone from basically trash back in the day to now being a go-to brand. The TX22 was my 1st Taurus & led to the G3, G3C, GX4 & a couple of 1911's. In .22's I rank Taurus right up there with my Rugers.
wish they would make a "TX9" and "TX9C" using this grip and their take on a glock 19/17/26 clone. the regular TX22 fits most glock19 holsters already, including light mounted options, so if they could then figure out a way to make a 9mm and 22lr compatible frame then that would be ideal conceal/competition/training all in one
@@ToolsandTargets absolutely... especially if they managed to implement the external lever safety on a few models. I know a number of people who refuse to carry a glock because "it doesn't have a safety" - despite how many times I show them the internal plunger, it doesn't make a difference.
Really enjoyed this video Tools ! Been a Taurus fan for a long time and been wanting a tx 22 for a while ! i think ill buy the full size because it wont be my edc . I carry a 709 slim half the time now and it runs flawless .
Thanks for the excellent review. I researched some specifications, and the Taurus TX22 compared to the Walther PPQ 22 I already have, is 0.4 inch smaller in height and length, 1.3 oz lighter, and has one more round of capacity. Not much difference, so I will stick with the Walther, but if I ever have a reason to replace it, I will definitely consider the Taurus TX22.
I just got a Holosun 407 k for mine haven't shot it, been raining.looking forward to it. Taurus is putting out good products lately. Own the TX22 great gun ran the crap out of it, not a problem that wasn't ammo related.thanks for the video 👍
Good evening Tools. Very insightful video on the tx22. Cool looking gun really like that it comes optic ready. Can’t wait to see your videos on barrel fouling. Keep up the great videos my friend. Stay warm.
Performed as expected, so glad Taurus is putting out some real bangers now. I have some pretty big hands too and I actually held the new compact in my hand the other day and while it felt fine my pinky did not fit the grip, I guess my fingers are like sausages so for now I will be happy with just the full size. Have a good one brother see you on the next one.
Great looking gun. I was always told not to dry fire rim fire tools. Since this is striker fired are you able to without any problems? What’s the general rule if there is one. Thanks
I've been keeping my eye on this gun and the sig p322 for awhile now. I've always been a bit of a sig fanboy but Taurus has a new model TX22 with a 16 and a 22 round magazines, optics cut slide and 4.6" barrel with an externally threaded barrel. I think it's time to pull the trigger (pun intended) on my first Taurus. Thanks for your reviews, I really do appreciate your hard work
Lol, no wonder you said you liked the TX22 when I told you both my boys both have one. Great guns for sure. I just wish Taurus would adapt this platform to 9mm. The ergos are just fantastic!
They really are. I don't know if you've ever held some of the Walther PDP models, but they remind me a whole lot of the feel from these TX22's. I've come very close to buying one several times.
@@ToolsandTargets That's actually a really good comp. I was actually considering getting one but ended up getting a Canik Mete SFT. I have an idea about that actually, I'll email you here soon.
@@ToolsandTargets The PDP is actually really snappy for a 9mm. Maybe it's high bore axis? Idk but that being said it's just 9mm but it is worth mentioning.
All Taurus needs to do now is offer a complete slide and barrel kit with this style rear optic cut for the OG Tx22. I bet they’d sell like hot cakes! Even a V2 of the OG TX 22 and call it the TORO would be awesome! Especially for those that want a longer slide TX22 but not with the wonky looking mid mounted optic cut like on the over priced Competition version.

Months ago after hearing this for me I was inspired to purchase this 22 and it shoots well. I just need a sleeve for a high compass the magazine. On the magazine when you put like a 16 or 20 or 25 round magazine A sleeve really helps. Tell me when you can find some. I love your show. What state are you in? I'm in Tennessee
Nice. Holosun 407k. It has a 6moa dot so really good for close up fast target pick-up, but it does cover your target up once you get out to 50 and beyond. Their 507k is a direct fit also and has the 2moa dot and ring combo reticle, but is a good bit more expensive.😎👍
It looks good but can it make lead spaghetti in the barrel like the Sig does? 😀 My only complaint with the TX22 competition is the garbage rear site. It doesn’t really matter since I have an optic on it, but I’m glad to see they updated it with a much better option.
100% agree. I absolutely hate those "adjustable" sights they use on the rear. Had to get rid of em on the standard. They used those same ones on a 9mm 709 Slim I used to edc several years ago too. It's funny now that Sig has me looking at every barrel for lead after I shoot. Never in my life checked for lead before.😂
What kind of exploding/smoking targets are you using? They don't appear to be overly loud, but definitely reactive - just what I'm looking for.. Thanks
So much fun. Have a sw shield plus and this is a very cheap practice pistol for someone looking to mimic their compact pistol. Ran over 300 rounds threw it with next to no fail to fire. If you load the magazine properly and snug it's practically flawless performance.
Sounds like somebody's a little bitter with Sig Sauer LOL I don't blame you brother that literally messed up of them. I even shared the video on my channel and said so. Can't wait to see you shoot all them different 22s

Nice. Holosun 407k. It has a 6moa dot so really good for close up fast target pick-up, but it does cover your target up once you get out to 50 and beyond. Their 507k is a direct fit also and has the 2moa dot and ring combo reticle, but is a good bit more expensive.😎👍
Great new tool thanks for the video 👍
😎👊
The full size tx22 is awesome have had one since they first released and I think I’ll get a compact. And thank goodness the barrel doesn’t lead up LOL
Great guns.😎👍
I was looking at getting the sig, but after your leading problems, it's nice to see there's a good alternative out there
These TX22's have been great.
It looks good but can it make lead spaghetti in the barrel like the Sig does? 😀
My only complaint with the TX22 competition is the garbage rear site.
Never in my life checked for lead before.😂
Countless rounds through my ruger sr22 and still has a clean barrel. Thanks tools.
😎👊
Taurus pistols have come around, great fit and finish and smooth action
All of mine have been really good guns.😎👍
That’s a really attractive little pistol and from what I’ve seen and heard it’s very reliable and well made! Taurus isn’t messin around!
All the ones I have are great guns.😎👍
I was debating between the TX22 compact and the kel tec P17…..you made me a believer of the TX22 compact now!!
Taurus makes some good 22 pistols. Thanks for the video.
Yessir. They got it figured out.
Any reasons why Taurus only makes this with threaded barrels?
Your vids do alot for Taurus . Keep up the good work .
What kind of exploding/smoking targets are you using? They don't appear to be overly loud, but definitely reactive - just what I'm looking for.. Thanks
My Taurus TX22 is a great pistol but then again I love all six of my Taurus pistols. Thanks for the review and have a great evening 😊.
Same here. All my Taurus stuff runs great.😎👍
Just bought mine today!! So excited. Never thought I would buy a Taurus again but dang it’s a nice pistol!! Way better than my sig and walther!!!
These TX22's are great guns.😎👊
Finally!!! Been waiting on a compact version of the Tx22 for years now
Pretty slick.😎👍
So much fun. Have a sw shield plus and this is a very cheap practice pistol for someone looking to mimic their compact pistol. Ran over 300 rounds threw it with next to no fail to fire. If you load the magazine properly and snug it's practically flawless performance.
Yep. These TX22's are great.😎👍
Amazing see All that lead flying Out of barrel !
I'd like to get one of those or maybe the bigger tx22
😆😆😆 They're both great.😎👍
I'm happy to see this one. Now I am torn. Get an 856 or the tx22 compact?
I say get both!😜
@@ToolsandTargets🤪
I like my mark 4 hunter. Test one, with a good red dot lot of fun.and a great pistol.
I look at em all the time.
Like the trigger and the fact that it Doesn't have a magazine disconnect.
These TX22's are great guns.😎👍
I have walthers 22 an tx22 Taurus love my 22 pistols glad to see higher capacity an one in compact size
I see the 16rd mag fits ... Do the longer barrels match up also ?
I'm sure glad I watch all your videos to the end. You save the best for last!
Appreciate that, my friend!💥😎💥
Well brother because of you I got the tx22 and the TX competition 22 I might as well get the compact man you cost me a lot of money
🤣🤣🤣
I couldn’t decide between this or the P322 so I went to try both & I knew I was buying the Taurus compact as soon as the gun clerk handed it to me.
These TX22's are absolute winners. They have some of the best ergonomics of any pistol I have and all mine have run flawless.
I just picked up my TX22 Compact yesterday. I haven’t taken it to the range yet but I know I’ll love it 💕
These things are fantastic guns.😎👍
Love everything about my tx22. Have you ever replaced the trigger?
Nah, haven't even thought about it. Trigger on it is pretty nice.
Great review and great gun. Many thanks!
Thank you sir.😎👊
Sounds like somebody's a little bitter with Sig Sauer LOL I don't blame you brother that literally messed up of them. I even shared the video on my channel and said so. Can't wait to see you shoot all them different 22s
Thank you sir. 😎👊
Thanks for substantiating why I purchased this firearm. Keep up the good work!
Huge fan of these TX22's.😎👍

Nice! Just can't beat em.
